One of the most infamous events in “Star Wars” history is getting resurrected on Disney Plus, through a lens made of Lego.
“The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special” will debut on the streaming service on Nov. 17. Set after the events of “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” the special continues the partnership between Lucasfilm and Lego of making playful, tongue-in-cheek animated versions of “Star Wars” stories using Lego figures and blocks.
The 45-minute special will follow Rey as her further investigation of the Force launches her and Bb-8 across the history of the Skywalker Saga — as Finn, Poe, Rose, and Chewbacca prepare for the “Star Wars” holiday Life Day on Chewie’s home planet of Kashyyyk.
A rep for Lucasfilm tells Variety that a few “Star Wars” actors will reprise their roles for the special, but it’s still unclear whether Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, or Kelly Marie Tran are returning.

Who’s sitting on top of the world? Zach Braff, who’s loving life while making his Broadway debut in the quick-tapping musical comedy Bullets Over Broadway.
Braff stars in the adaptation of the 1994 Woody Allen film as David Shayne, a playwright whose first big Broadway endeavor is underscored by gangsters, divas, talentless chorus girls, and a rising number of dead bodies. The score is based entirely on period standards from the early 20th century.

The screen-to-stage adaptation has grown more common than the reverse: of the 56 musicals nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical since 2000, 22 are based on films, with winners including "The Producers," "Hairspray," and last year's "Kinky Boots." But this year marks an especially memorable adaptation, with Woody Allen's "Bullets Over Broadway" hitting the stage. To celebrate this, Film Society of Lincoln Center will screen Allen's 1994 film version for one night only in a presentation titled "From Stage to Screen: Bullets Over Broadway." The film tells the story of idealistic/egotistical playwright David Shayne (John Cusack as a pretty good Woody surrogate) who agrees to cast a gangster's moll, Olive (Jennifer Tilly), in a significant role in order to finance his new play. Olive is escorted by Cheech (Chazz Palmintieri), who turns out to be a writing genius who constantly revises and improves Shayne's play. Meanwhile, Shayne embarks on an affair with the diva-ish,...

As the pill-popping, Vodka-swilling title character of "Blue Jasmine," Cate Blanchett joins a long line of actresses who have played crazy in Woody Allen films. No one has created more complex, multi-faceted female roles than the New York maestro, but let's face it: these gals are never more mesmerizing than when they're screaming, shouting, and throwing a major tantrum.
To celebrate this latest wacky inclusion, here's our list of the nine nuttiest female performances in Woody Allen films.
9. Christina Ricci, 'Anything Else' (2003)
At first glance, Amanda Chase (Christina Ricci) looks like she'd make a really great girlfriend, especially to a nerd like Jerry Falk (Jason Biggs). But looks can be deceiving: once you get to know Amanda in "Anything Else," you start to think that maybe Jerry should stick to dating apple pies. Based on the evidence of this film, the pastry would prove a more stable relationship.

Last week, actor John Cusack asked his 855,000-plus Twitter followers whether Lady Gaga was the modern-day Edgar Allan Poe. It was a bit perplexing, considering Gaga is a musician and Poe was an author and poet. Surely there was some prolific writer that Cusack meant to say instead? "I said that because of all the blood and gore she has in her [performances]," the actor explained to Moviefone, in a conversation at the Vault at Pfaff's, a New York City establishment once haunted by many of Poe's literary peers. Despite potential cries of blasphemy from Poe fanatics, you should excuse Mr. Cusack for trying to make a joke. After all, he spent months researching the late author -- delving into the myriad of mysterious, blood-filled tales of revenge and murder -- for his role in the upcoming movie, “The Raven,” and perhaps he needed a bit of humor to break things up.

Thirty years after making his debut, John Cusack is still a Hollywood outsider. Now 45, the star of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven talks about mortality, his Brat Pack past – and why he wishes he could work a room
John Cusack is puffing on a fat cigar. It's incongruous, seeing him dressed all in cool, casual black, sucking on a Cohiba, like a goth who has crashed a Hollywood mogul's house party. "Yeah, maybe we shouldn't mention the cigar," he says. "I don't want people to think I'm this movie cliche. I'm certainly not a mogul – in fact, nothing could be further from the truth."
I don't think there's any danger of Cusack being mistaken for a movie mogul. But the cigar begins to feel somehow appropriate. The more he smokes it, the more at ease he becomes with it, until he owns that damn cigar and waggles it like a spare,...

Woody Allen is best known for his cinematic output, but inbetween annual film efforts he also works on theatre projects. While it’s been a few years since he brought a full-length piece to the stage (he produced a one-act last year), he’s looking to come back with a bang by getting Bullets Over Broadway to the Great White Way at last. Why “at last”? Well, this is not exactly a new project. A musical version of the 1994 film (released over here in 1995) was first mooted back in 2003, which means that when it finally lights the lights in 2013, it’ll be 10 years in development.Bullets followed struggling playwright David Shayne (John Cusack), who finds himself in a tricky spot when his producer finally digs up the funding for his latest project from a gangster. Nick Valenti (Joe Viterelli) is happy to cough up the loot, provided his talentless bimbo...

In 1993, whilst under heavy fire from the media regarding his split with Farrow and in the middle of a nasty custody battle over custody of their children, Woody Allen released yet another movie. “Manhattan Murder Mystery” is a light hearted romp that reunites him with Diane Keaton in a role originally intended for Farrow. Keaton and Allen play a high class married couple who accidentally stumble upon what they believe to be a murder. Co-Starring Alan Alda and Angelica Huston the movie is fun, frivolous watch which showed that the on screen chemistry between Allen and Keaton was still there after all those years. It also proved that regardless of what was happening in his personal life Woody Allen was still an accomplished and extremely focused film director. He escaped from the pressures of reality by immersing himself in even more work.

Woody Allen’s You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger follows a pair of married couples, Alfie (Anthony Hopkins) and Helena (Gemma Jones), and their daughter Sally (Naomi Watts) and husband Roy (Josh Brolin), as their passions, ambitions, and anxieties lead them into trouble and out of their minds.
After Alfie leaves Helena to pursue his lost youth and a free-spirited call girl named Charmaine (Lucy Punch), Helena abandons rationality and surrenders her life to the loopy advice of a charlatan fortune teller. Unhappy in her marriage, Sally develops a crush on her handsome art gallery owner boss, Greg (Antonio Banderas), while Roy, a novelist nervously awaiting the response to his latest manuscript, becomes moonstruck over Dia (Freida Pinto), a mystery woman who catches his gaze through a nearby window. Despite these characters’ attempts to dodge their problems with pipe dreams and impracticable plans, their efforts lead only to heartache,...
