The Bachelor’s season finale on Monday opened with a “previously on…” introduction that gave star Juan Pablo Galavis a heavy-handed villain edit, as well as pro-next-Bachelorette edit for Andi Dorfman, who broke up with him last week.
This week, the two remaining women – Clare Crawley and Nikki Ferrell – will each get the chance to meet with Juan Pablo’s family in St. Lucia. What unfolds between the introductions and the final rose ceremony will be the “most dramatic, surprising ending Ever on the show," Chris Harrison declares before the live studio audience in Los Angeles.

Time to get started with the real "Bachelor" episodes, fans. Two one-on-one dates and a group date. The pre-show ad promises, "Hot clubs, hot rubs and one. hot. mess." Just the way we like it. Get your favorite wine ready and here we go.
Clare's Date
Molly (the dog) takes a dip in the pool, as Clare gets ready for her date. She says this could be the first date with her future husband and while that is technically true, let's not get ahead of ourselves, chicky.
Juan Pablo drives up, blindfolds Clare and whisks her off in his car, which is a lot cuter and less creepy than it sounds. The show keeps up the charade that the "Bachelor" is the one who actually plans these dates, as Jp talks about putting together the winter wonderland where the date is taking place -- in the middle of Los Angeles in approximately September,...

Last night, America crowned Phillip Phillips, the 21-year-old pawn shop worker from Georgia, as the latest "American Idol."
This should've come as a surprise to exactly no one, given that Phillip is now the fifth in an uninterrupted line of "White Guys With Guitars" who have snagged the coveted crown over the past few seasons. I was noting the bias towards "Wgwg" way back in my recap of the Top 24 -- although in those halcyon days, I was foolishly giving the edge to Colton, just because he was more conventionally attractive (and more annoying), even going so far as to note: "He's white, male and can play an instrument, so he'll probably win." Close enough, right?
Clearly, I was discounting the sympathy votes Phil-Phil would earn for his kidney problems, but I did note that he had one of the stand-out performances in the first live round. I've enjoyed a...

I didn’t take it too seriously when Britney Spears’ name first surfaced as a possible replacement for exiting judges/mentors Nicole Scherzinator and Paula Abdul on The X Factor. After all, the pop diva isn’t exactly renown for singing live. And what’s more, she conducted much of the promotion for her last record, 2011′s Femme Fatale, via email, incurring the wrath of talk-show emcee (and subsequent The Voice host) Carson Daly when her management team insisted they be allowed to approve and edit a pre-taped interview with the “Womanizer” singer.

Nicole Scherzinger drew heavily criticism for her judging this season on The X Factor, and now she's revealing that the show is no longer the first priority in her life! Nicole, 33, says her focus is shifting with the new year, RadarOnline.com reports. "Next year for me, it’s about my music,” she said. “This has been quite a learning experience, quite a journey for me. I didn’t expect to have been so emotional through the whole elimination process. I wanted to just mentor and empower artists.” What do You think, HollywoodLifers -- would you be sad to see Nicole go if she left The X Factor? -- William Earl [flv custom_thumbnail="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdIBw97J6E81324730223678" width="600" height="350"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdIBw97J6E8/flv] More 'X Factor': Drew Ryniewicz Messed Up Her ‘X Factor’ Performance To Spend More...

Are you with me here? Have You ever gotten as deeply involved with 'AI' contestants as you did with X Factor's Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik, Chris Rene and Rachel Crow? I challenge American Idol to come up with a crop of "artists" as outstanding as the finalists on the first season of X Factor. I've been puzzled all along as to why the X Factor ratings, while very good, haven't been as strong as Idol's and I just hope that more people discover X Factor . I seriously am going to miss the X Factor crew next week. I've become so completely attached not just to the top three finalists who battled it out on the finale, last night, Dec. 22. But I want to know that Rachel Crow, Astro, Marcus Canty and even the group, Stereohogz, have a future musical career or more. And as for runner-up Josh Krajcik,...

Amaro was awarded The X Factor's $$5m grand prize in Thursday's finale when she topped runner-up Josh Krajcik and third place finalist Chris Rene. Discussing her life-changing win with the show's official website, Amaro revealed that the most nerve-wracking moment of her life was when host Steve Jones announced the final result. "The entire time I was thinking to myself, he's going to say Josh Krajcik. Prepare yourself for Josh Krajcik," Amaro said. "So when he said my name, it was just like, he said my name!" She added of her mindset before the finale: "I honestly didn't [think I'd win]. I didn't think I would be in this position right now." > X Factor (more)...

Melanie Amaro may have won The X Factor's $5 million grand prize, but that doesn't mean fellow finalists Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene will walk away from the competition empty handed. "Of course," he told us when we asked if he wanted to sign Josh and Chris. "If not, someone else is going to sign them!" What a fabulous night The X Factor finale brought this week! What a satisfying win! Along with finally crowning the winner of this competition (the winner of which had the title in the bag from the moment they auditioned), the final twelve returned to the stage as well as some big names including Justin Bieber and Leona Lewis. Not only that, the show got into the Christmas spirit, which brought the night’s high even higher!
The final twelve opened the finale with Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” and there were actually more faces that were not missed than missed. Looking back, the right people definitely made it to the finals. During the performance, we discovered that Drew has become a brunette. Whether or not she is as stylish as she thinks, she has some growing up to do in general before taking on a $5 million responsibility. So, as much as we love her,...

If you need a reminder that there is hope for humanity this holiday season, look no further than the line of people waiting to get into Thursday night’s finale of The X Factor. Standing behind me: two-thirds of the miles-more-interesting-than-inTENsity, tight-fitting-pants aficionados the Anser. (Yes, their pants remain as snug as ever.) Standing in front of me: All of Chris Rene’s family, who, since we’re on the subject, are quite the fashionable bunch themselves. With only 45 minutes left until the show was live to the East Coast, the line was unusually long, and moving at a snail...

Melanie Amaro has become the first ever winner of The X Factor USA. The 19-year-old - who originally hails from the British Virgin Islands but now lives in Florida - triumphed over Josh Krajcik to take the top prize of a $$5 million (£3.18 million) recording contract and a starring role in a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial. Amaro was famously recalled to the live stages of the competition by Simon Cowell after he had chosen his four acts at Judges' Houses and originally left her out of his final selection.

The word “Finale” — spelled out in all caps using pure molten lava — bubbled and exploded across a giant electronic screen. A lithe young woman in a red-and-white striped, fur-trimmed bathing suit writhed seductively inside an oversized snow globe. And Melanie Amaro, Chris Rene, and Josh Krajcik were reduced to blubbering, carol-singing wrecks.

"The X Factor" crowned its first winner Thursday night (Dec. 22), in a finale that came down to boy-category member Chris Rene, girl-category member Melanie Amaro and over-30-category member Josh Krajcik. So who won the $5 million prize?
Melanie Amaro, which is at the same time a surprise and not. On the one hand, Melanie had one of the best initial auditions (if not the best) we've ever seen. She has also been really strong week in and week out on the show.
On the other hand, there hasn't been a female winner of "American Idol" since Jordin Sparks in Season 6, which was four and a half years ago. We weren't honestly sure a girl could win one of these singing competition shows anymore, regardless of how talented she is. But Melanie has proven us wrong.
How do you feel, "X Factor" fans? Did the right person win the competition?...

After a finale to top all finales, the first ever USA 'X Factor' winner was announced. Are You happy with who we chose? The X Factor finale started off on an exciting foot with the top 12 contestants singing Lady Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," which was bittersweet seeing Rachel Crow and Astro, who were kicked off possibly too soon. Up next, we saw holidays tunes by the top three -- Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene -- which were lovely, but ultimately, we wanted to see who was the winner of the $5 million recording contract! Unfortunately, they kept it from us for awhile longer. First, we got to see Justin Bieber and Stevie Wonder (and Drew!). Sadly, Chris was eliminated first. "I feel amazing that I got to be here," he said, proudly. Then we got to see 50 Cent collaborate with Astro, another montage, followed by Pitbull,...

"The X Factor" just wrapped its first season and we know it's coming back next fall. So we have a few cheers and a few jeers about what the show did well and what the show needs to improve upon for next year.
What Worked
Hollywood Week
Actually pre-setting the groups and giving them vocal and dancing coaches was a stroke of genius. The Hollywood Week of "Idol" may be kind of fun because it's a hot mess, but honestly, we actually liked seeing the groups do well and make the eliminations hard on the judges. -- Andrea Reiher
Allowing Original Performances
Too often singing competitions turn into karaoke competitions with better backing tracks. But what made "The X Factor" interesting were the periodic original songs -- specifically those by Brian "Astro" Bradley and Chris Rene. They broke up the predictability of the show and also demonstrated that contestants have real creative talent,...
