In 1994, Yoko Ono gave Paul McCartney demo tapes that would eventually become the 2023 Beatles song “Now and Then.” She helped bring a major piece of Beatles’ history to the world decades after her husband’s death. Several years before she gave McCartney the tapes, Ono also helped preserve more of the Beatles’ history. After Ono learned Beatles road manager Mal Evans’ memoir was slated for destruction, she stepped in to save it.
Beatles’ road manager Mal Evans wrote a book that was nearly destroyed
In 1988, artist Leena Kutti accepted a temporary position at New York publishing house G.P. Putnam’s Sons. She was to go through their storage room and clear it out. This meant throwing away much of the artwork and manuscripts stored there.
While sifting through boxes, Kutti discovered thousands of vintage photographs of The Beatles and a manuscript titled Living the Beatles’ Legend: Or 200 Miles to Go by Malcolm Evans.

In its fifth and final season, Psycho prequel series Bates Motel will finally catch up with the timeline of its cinematic precursor. What the show’s creators choose to keep or change from the original film looks to be half the fun of this season, making it especially exciting for fans of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 seminal masterpiece and grandfather of the slasher genre.
Last season’s shocking penultimate episode saw Norman Bate’s (Freddie Highmore) attempted murder-suicide result in the death of his mother (Vera Farmiga). If there was any question as to the presence of Norma Louise Bates going forward, those are answered quite emphatically during the opening moments. Jumping in time almost two years since the end of last season, we begin with Norman and Mother having breakfast together. The meeting clearly shows Norman is no longer himself but a combination of both mother and son.

A&E’s horror series serves as a prequel to Hitchcock’s 1960 thriller. Freddie Highmore (The Art of Getting By) plays young Norman, who’s moved to White Pine Bay, Oregon, by his mother, Norma Louise Bates (Vera Farmiga, Safe House) six months after his father dies. Having examined, investigated and completely broken down the ins and outs of the entire 'Psycho' franchise for my documentary project 'The Psycho Legacy,' I’ve managed to become pretty well versed in the mythology and time-line of all the events as they take place within the universe set up by Sir Alfred Hitchcock in his 1960 adaptation of the Robert Bloch novel 'Psycho' right through to the final prequel/sequel of that particular franchise with 'Psycho IV: The Beginning.'
One of my initial concerns with A&E’s original announcement regarding their prequel show 'Bates Motel' was that my knowledge of the movies was going to spoil all the details of how the events leading up to the first 'Psycho' had transpired. But alas, what the writers and producers of the show wisely opted to do instead was set the re-imagining in the present day.

In case you haven’t been following the news, A&E has been in the process of making Bates Motel, a prequel TV series based on Hitchcock’s Psycho, with Carlton Cuse (Lost) on hand as the executive producer.
Up until now, Vera Farmiga (Up In The Air, Source Code) had been the only casting news, as Norma Louise Bates, the mother who will shape young Norman Bates into one of the most well known serial killers ever. Now, the search for Norman Bates has ended, and the choice is Freddie Highmore (above). Highmore is a British chap, well known for his roles in Finding Neverland and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. It’s insane to fathom, but Highmore is already 20 years old. He looks about 9.
It was previously mentioned that Cuse’s “Norman might not be what fans expect. Cuse isn’t looking for someone to imitate Perkins, as...

A&E's upcoming drama series "Bates Motel" is shaping up to be either really promising or really ridiculous. The "Psycho" prequel, which was given a straight-to-series greenlight in July, is being executive produced by Carlton Cuse of "Lost" and will explore the early days of Norman Bates, focusing on his relationship with his mother. Vera Farmiga was announced in the maternal role of Norma Louise Bates several weeks ago, the Academy Award-nominated actress making her return to TV for her first regular small-screen role in eight years. And now, according to TVLine, the show's found its young Norman -- Freddie Highmore, the former child star of "Finding Neverland" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," will play the killer-to-be. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory star Freedie Highmore has landed the lead role as a young Norman Bates in A&E's upcoming new TV series Bates Motel!
