What Happened to Hasbro's Micronauts Show? Writer Eric Rogers Says It Got Scrapped - Main Image
Hasbro has apparently completed 52 episodes of Micronauts' animated show, which former head writer Eric Rogers recently confirmed, and fans are furious at the abrupt cancelation of the long-awaited series.
52-Episode Micronauts Show was Shelved At Hasbro, Head Writer Reveals
As early as December 2017, a Micronauts film was already confirmed for production and slated for theatrical release, but the journey wasn't easy for it to come to fruition.
Paramount picked out a 2020 theatrical release for a G.I. Joe film and 2021 for Dungeons & Dragons, while a live-action Micronauts was set to open seven months after G.I. Joe's March 2020 release (slated for October 2020).
When that didn't push through, Mego's beloved toy franchise since 1976 eventually transformed into an animated series in January 2018, set to launch sometime in 2019.
However, Micronauts never did come to our screens.

The “Angry Birds” universe just became one series bigger. Amazon Prime Video and Amazon Kids+ has picked up “Angry Birds Mystery Island” to series from Eric Rogers (Futurama) and Titmouse.
“We’re excited to work with Amazon to add a new chapter to the Hatchlings’ story in ‘Angry Birds Mystery Island,’” said Rovio’s head of Brand Licensing, Hanna Valkeapää-Nokkala. “I’m sure fans of the Hatchlings will be eager to see them in their own series, with speaking voices for the first time.”
The 24-episode first season will follow three new hatchlings — Mia, Rosie, and Buddy — and a foreign-exchange piglet named Hamylton on their all-expenses-paid island getaway, where they find themselves mistakenly catapulted onto an uncharted island. Left to explore the exotic sights, smells, and unexplained phenomena of their new environment without any adults around, the ragtag bunch quickly learns that, in order to survive and make it back home,...

Netflix has given a two-season order for "Skylanders Academy," the first project from video game giant Activision Blizzard's in-house production outfit Activision Blizzard Studios.
The series itself was first announced as being in the works with the creation of the studio late last year. The show, based on the multi-billion dollar toy brand, charts a team of heroes as they train the next wave of Skylanders Academy cadets.
Justin Long, Ashley Tisdale, Jonathan Banks and Norm MacDonald play regulars while the likes of Susan Sarandon, Parker Posey, Catherine O'Hara, Bobcat Goldthwait and Chris Diamantopoulos will lend their voices to the series.
"Futurama" writer Eric Rogers serves as showrunner with Sander Schwartz, Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk executive producing. The first episodes will debut on the streaming service in the Fall.
The confirmation comes as Netflix unveiled a new slate of kids' properties set to debut shortly including adaptations of the kids book series "Llama Llama," the graphic novels "Hilda," the Dreamworks animated feature "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron," and the live-action "Spy Kids" film franchise.

The first Warcraft trailer isn't the only big news out of BlizzCon today. We just received a press release announcing the launching of Activision Blizzard Studios, a studio "devoted to creating original content based on the company's extensive library of iconic and globally-recognized intellectual properties." And as you might have guessed, that means a Call of Duty cinematic universe is in the works.
First up, though, is a TV show called Skylanders Academy based on the popular Skylanders game. Justin Long, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), Ashley Tisdale, and Norm Macdonald will provide voices for the animated series.
There aren't any details about the plans of the Call of Duty cinematic universe (other than referring to it as "robust"), but it sounds like Activision Blizzard Studios is taking a page from Ubisoft's playbook here, making sure they retain creative control over their mega-popular games and bringing them to the big screen...
