When news broke in early February that Mariah Carey had booked a return ticket to Las Vegas to mount another residency, it was revealed that she would design the set list as a celebration of her 2005 blockbuster album, The Emancipation of Mimi.
It inspired the title of the exclusive run — The Celebration of Mimi — as well as the timing. Carey took the stage at Park MGM’s Dolby Live to launch the 16-date residency on April 12, 2024, exactly 19 years to the day after the album was released. It’s no surprise Carey wanted to commemorate the 14-track effort, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and brought the elusive chanteuse back into familiar territory at the top of the charts. The success of Emancipation of Mimi was fueled by the No. 1 smash “We Belong Together” and punctuated by singles “It’s Like That,” “Shake It Off,” “Get Your Number,” “Don’t Forget About Us,...

Another week and another bunch of judging rumours regarding The X Factor – and we are sure the publicity is not upsetting Mr Cowell or his plans one little bit,
Today he has put one of these rumours to bed and announced that diva songstress Maria Carey will not be part of the Us judging panel, due to her pregnancy.
Speaking to The Los Angeles Times, he said:
“I can tell you officially that Mariah will not be on the panel, mainly because I think she’s still gonna be pregnant at the time we start filming and she’s gonna need some time off.”
“She couldn’t start working straight away, and they’re long days. But we’re hopeful there will be a role for her – and I’m not sure what yet – on the live shows. She wants to be involved.”
So far only one judge from both shows has been confirmed,...

After a decade in which more black actors won Academy Awards than in the past seventy years combined, 2011 represents a setback: the Oscars failed to nominate a single black artist, and Vanity Fair's influential “Young Hollywood” cover featured a single black performer.
So here at NextMovie, we're gonna celebrate Black History Month by highlighting the hottest, up-and-coming young black actors. These nine-under-30 might not all be household names yet, but we think they represent the next generation of Anthony Mackies, Zoe Saldanas, and Will Smiths (literally).
Gabourey Sidibe
Sidibe's Academy-Award nomination for her debut performance in "Precious" sends her to the top our list. She may be 27, but Sidibe's making a name for herself playing teens on the big screen (she co-stars opposite Zoe Kravitz in the upcoming indie drama "Yelling to the Sky," which premieres at the Berlin Film Fest this month) and on premium cable with the always-amazing...

"American Idol" finalist Adam Lambert's concerts in Malaysia are being protested by the country's Islamist opposition party for promoting "gay culture," according to Reuters.
The Pan Malaysian Islamic Party (Pas) is demanding the authorities cancel Glambert's concert and has threatened to call "as many of its members and supporters" as it can to proselytize to the concert-goers.
"Adam Lambert's shows... are outrageous, with lewd dancing and a gay performance that includes kissing male dancers, this is not good for people in our country," said Pas Youth leader Nasrudin Hasan.
Lambert has responded via Twitter, saying, "While I don't believe that my glamnation tour is in any way offensive I have agreed to make a few minor adjustments out of respect for the Malaysian government. Looking forward to a fun show."
He continues, "Does my show "promote the gay lifestyle"? It promotes living Any lifestyle that includes the freedom to seek love and intimacy.
