To crudely paraphrase the great Liverpool football manager Bill Shankly, "Some people believe X Factor is a matter of life and death.
"I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."
The X Factor: Which three groups made the Live Shows?
It's Judges' Houses weekend on The X Factor, which means that we've got a whole three shows of torturous final auditions before the acts can say they've truly made it and reached the Live Shows. Only then can they lay claim to the fact that they're in the same company as Rikki Loney, Austin Drage and Bad Lashes.
Apart from approximately three minutes of actual singing, the majority of tonight's episode was filled with fretting from the acts, fretting from Louis Walsh, followed by tears from the acts and tears from Louis Walsh.
We can probably all agree...

Happy 10th anniversary to The X Factor!
We've already compiled a few of our favourite X Factor moments over the past decade, so now we're going to celebrate with a quiz to see if you can name the following 10 ex-finalists.
Do you recognise any of these former hopeful faces? Have a go below:
1. Series 5 - guess the X Factor finalist
Can you remember this slightly cheesy (and extremely hair conscious) performer mentored by Simon Cowell back on The X Factor back in 2008?
Following his X Factor departure, he's performed at Butlin's Holiday Park in Skegness, turned on the Stevenage town Christmas lights and appeared in Attitude magazine's naked edition.
2. Series 8 - guess the X Factor finalist
No-one could remember this act's name while she was on the show, so we doubt it'll spring to mind two years on. That's a shame, because this former barmaid from London had a really...

X Factor returns this weekend and it's gearing up to take over your lives until Christmas. And even if you're the sort of person who would normally rather eat a plate of dog food than spend Saturday night with Louis Walsh, there are at least a couple of reasons to be excited about the show's 10th series.
1. Loveable oddballs.
Without X Factor we would never have seen Jedward performing the talking bit in 'Oops I Did It Again', watched Kitty Brucknell in a glow-in-the-dark catsuit, witnessed the horror of Diva Fever or, most importantly, been treated to the genius of Wagner.
From 'Loaf Shack' to bongo-drum bashing, from backing dancers rubbing their boobs to owning a pet lion, Wagner remains the greatest ever X Factor oddball in our eyes, but hopefully this year, he can be topped.
And don't even get us started on the greatest act to never reach the live shows.

Former X Factor contestant Austin Drage has claimed that Simon Cowell has an "aura" when he enters a room. The singer, who took part in the ITV1 show last year, described Cowell as a "superstar" and a "good guy". "When he walks in a room he has an aura about him. You know he's there before you have even seen him because people are whispering about it," Drage told Digital Spy. "I think it must be stressful for him having so many people clawing at him everyday. I just wanted to work with him and progress musically, I didn't want to be his best friend and get something out of him, like so many people do." He added: "Simon's a good guy. Former X Factor star Austin Drage has claimed that John & Edward are "insulting" to hard-working singers. Drage, who was knocked out in the fourth week of the ITV1 series last year, claimed that the current series is in danger of becoming like "Big Brother, with monkeys in cages". "There's a lot of speculation about John and Edward, and yes they are funny to watch, but it's quite insulting to the people who do sing for a living," he told Digital Spy. "They have filled a place, which one of those people could have taken, which for people who work really hard trying to make something of themselves is really hard to take. Former X Factor contestant Austin Drage has claimed that Cheryl Cole has made the wrong choices on this year’s series.
Cole has chosen Lloyd Daniels, Joseph McElderry and Rikki Loney as her final three acts.
Speaking on Five TV’s chat show, Live From Studio Five, Drage said, “I think Cheryl got it wrong, didn’t she? I was a Duane fan.
“I thought what Duane did was really current, he did Ne-Yo, he had that whole soul thing going on. It really killed him, didn’t it?
“I know Duane and Rikki quite well personally, and Duane’s got such a great vocal. Rikki’s got a good voice as well and they both want it badly, but it’s really hurt Duane.”...
