The start of the Global Peace Film Festival film festival is just around the corner— but there is already plenty to watch on their YouTube channel: interviews and panels are now live that give depth and context to the program. Check it out and consider subscribing to the Gpff YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/eRtwFrw #filmfestival #peaceTickets are on sale now (peacefilmfest.org)
Global Peace Film Festival has had an impactful relationship with the distributor, Bullfrog Films Inc, over the years. Bullfrog is one of the longest lasting non-theatrical distributors. Its clients used to be libraries, universities and schools but they now include all sorts of special interest groups. The company has evolved from 16mm delivery to streaming.
The Global Peace Film Fest’s Nina Streich and her second-in-command, Kelly DeVine interviewed John Hoskyns-Abrahall, Winifred Scherrer and Alex Hoskyns-Abrahall at Bullfrog about their long, fruitful and continuing work to support documentary film, filmmakers and audiences. Check out the interview

50 years old, what began as natural foods, health consciousness-in-us-made-films…made five films…then published a magazine because film distribution was too difficult, so John Hoskyns-Abrahall, Winifred Scherrer and Alex Hoskyns-Abrahall began making and distributing; making films proved too difficult, so they started distribtuion company Bullfrog Films to distribute other environmental films which was not in school curriculum. As it caught on, more and more films were produced on the environment.
Wini: The focus has changed Nuclear Power, then Nuclear Weapons, then librarians were buyers…we always look for connections between issues. We are interested in films that cross barriers of issues. Libraries had non fiction film collectons. Then we went to colleges, connecting with different disciplines. Pandemic made more shifts in what librarians and colleges wanted to deliver.
We now have a community screening site, Bullfrog Community, to enhance public performance of films, provide posters, questions, etc. The is a very big change for us.
Festivals/ Distributors have editorial eye and conversations with users and filmmakers…delivery was dependent on their needs. Originally if someone want to buy a 16mm film it would cost 850. Now with streaming, libraries still want DVDs for their collections.
Schools no longer require 20 minute films to enable questions and lessons around the one hour class session. Sundance Film Festival’s docs changed this. Now with streaming, the teacher assigns watching at home and discusses it in class.
Industry and audience changes have changed formats of films many times over. Social issue documentaries were standard fare in public librariees. K-12 became centralized around certain disrtributors with very curtailed budgets for buying. Universities and Colleges were more stable but are now also instable.
The exchange of films between Bullfrog and the Global Peace Film Festival also highlights changes in the “educational film market” and distributors’ place within the festival film circuit.

Inspired by Chenoweth’s Broadway Bootcamp, the series introduces 8th to 12th graders to the world of performing arts through master classes in acting, singing and dancing, and goes on the emotional journey with them as they prepare for a future as performers.
Chenoweth launched Broadway Bootcamp at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center in her Oklahoma hometown of Broken Arrow in 2015, to give talented local kids a taste of real Broadway talent, working with them one-on-one. Diana, Princess of Wales has been portrayed in no shortage of high profile works of fiction this past year, from her introduction on the fourth season of Netflix’s “The Crown” to Pablo Larraín’s new film “Spencer,” and now a new Broadway musical. After beginning previews last March just before the coronavirus pandemic shuttered New York theaters, “Diana: The Musical” returned to the Longacre Theatre on Nov. 17 with Jeanna de Waal in the title role.
“Diana” chronicles nearly two decades in the life of its title character as she enters the public eye and becomes internationally recognizable. Joe Dipietro and David Bryan, the Tony-winning team behind the Best Musical winner “Memphis” (2010), reunited for “Diana” with Dipietro contributing book and lyrics and Bryan the score. Tony-winner Christopher Ashley directs and also reunites with a fellow “Come From Away” alum, the Tony-nominated choreographer Kelly Devine. Broadway stalwarts Erin Davie and two-time...

‘Come From Away’ Is Latest Broadway Returnee: Tony-Winning Musical Resumes Performances In September
Come From Away, the Tony- and Olivier Award-winning musical, will return to Broadway’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Tuesday, September 21, producers announced today. The reopening will mark the acclaimed production’s 1,251st performance.

As with all other Broadway productions, Come From Away halted performances on March 12, 2020, due to the Covid pandemic shutdown. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave the go-ahead last week for Broadway’s reopening at 100% capacity in September, providing the productions meet current safety protocol guidelines.
Tickets are on sale today, with the playing schedules as noted at the purchase site.

“It’s all about the tone,” reveals choreographer Kelly Devine of her dance creations. Devine brought her varied dance background to Amazon’s “Modern Love” to craft a memorable musical moment in the episode “Take Me as I Am, Whoever I Am.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
This episode of “Modern Love” stars Anne Hathaway as Lexi, a single woman living with bipolar disorder. She meets Jeff (Gary Carr) in a grocery store on a day when her mood is exceptionally happy and the flirtatious pair agree to a first date. The euphoria of Lexi’s emotional upswing causes the world around her to break into song and dance with a musical number.
See Anne Hathaway (‘Modern Love’) might just sing her way to an Emmy again
While the majority of the dancing occurs in the store’s parking lot, dance starts to creep in while Lexi shops and flirts inside.

Exclusive: A Clueless feature remake is in the works at Paramount with Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver producing and Glow writer Marquita Robinson penning the script.
The movie is quite early in development, so details are minimal in regards to whether it’s a fresh new take for the millennium and if older characters will be reprising their roles.
The original 1995 film directed and written by Amy Heckerling is a cult Gen X classic, loosely based on Jane Austen’s Emma, and provided a satirical window into the Beverly Hills high school scene of the day. The movie put a number of young actors and actresses on the map who flourished in the wake of the pic’s release including Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Breckin Meyer, Jeremy Sisto, Stacey Dash, and the late Brittany Murphy. As BroadwayWorld reported earlier, The New Group has just announced complete casting and the design team for Clueless, the Musical. Amy Heckerling takes us back to 90s Beverly Hills with this musical version of her beloved film Clueless, a modern spin on Jane Austen's Emma. With her singular voice, she gives us a score that reimagines 90s hits into ingenious parodies and yearning monologues for her lovesick characters. Director Kristin Hanggi Rock of Ages and choreographer Kelly Devine Come from Away drive this fresh take on the story of Cher Dove Cameron - 'Liv and Maddie,' Descendants, Hairspray Live, a girl so psychotically optimistic she can't see that her bungling attempts at playing Cupid disguise her own fashion-plated isolation.

Escape to Margaritaville will blow out its final flip-flop at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre July 1, closing shy of the four-month mark after its official March 15 opening. The Jimmy Buffett jukebox musical is planning a 2019 national tour.
The parrothead tuner, directed by Christopher Ashley, featuring Buffett’s beachy, breezy, rum-heavy musical reveries and with an ensemble cast headed by Paul Alexander Nolan, has been among Broadway’s lesser performers since opening to buzz-harshing reviews. With no Tony nominations, Margaritaville has been playing in recent weeks to roughly half-full houses and taking grosses around the third of potential.
The closing was announced by producers Frank Marshall, Mindy Rich, Anita Waxman, and Beth Williams. With the Sunday, July 1 performance, the show will have played 29 previews and 124 regular performances.
July won’t be entirely Buffett-less, though: Buffett himself will appear with the Broadway cast on PBS’ live broadcast of A Capitol Fourth from the West Lawn of the U.
