Presenting two real-life stories from my days of yore, although names have been changed to protect both the innocent and the guilty.
Story The First:
I knew a girl in high school – I wouldn’t say we were friends, but she was someone who had never participated in the Piggy horrors. Sally was an A+ student, on the track to an Ivy League school. Pretty (but not gorgeous) and popular (but quiet about it), she came to me one day and said that she needed to talk to me privately. I was surprised… and a bit suspicious. What did she want? But because Sally had never been overtly mean to me, even though she was part of the clique that instigated most of the callous cruelties upon me, and because I still hoped to be “accepted,” and I wanted to believe for some reason she was about to warn me...

This classy Fox production was considered the epitome of sick film subject matter in the pre- Psycho year of 1959, the true story of jazz-age thrill killers Leopold & Loeb. Dean Stockwell and Bradford Dillman are the nihilistic child murderers; Orson Welles stops the show with his portrayal of Clarence Darrow, going under a different name.

Dustin Lance Black has responded to Sam Smith's apology over his Oscars acceptance speech - and claims he was joking all along. The 41-year-old screenwriter took to Twitter on Monday to clarify his harsh comments about Sam Smith's suggestion that he may be the first openly gay man to win an Academy Award. "Well this has proven to be a lively day on Twitter. From humor to anger. The former my intent ... in defense of history. Much love to all," he wrote. Well this has proven to be a lively day on Twitter. From humor to anger. The former my intent.

Nobody Waved Good-Bye
Directed by Don Owen
Written by Don Owen
1964, Canada
Like many classic films, Nobody Waved Good-Bye (1964) began as something different. Don Owen was commissioned to create a television documentary about probationary officers, but expanded it into a fictional coming-of-age story. Producer Tom Daly liked the idea and ensured an increased budget: still, the final product only cost $75,000 Canadian, shot over three weeks in Toronto. The movie initially flopped in Canada, but became a sleeper hit in the United States and earned a BAFTA nomination in England. Over time, it became recognized as a landmark in Canadian cinema.
Nobody focuses on Peter (Peter Kastner), an 18 year old juvenile delinquent railing against middle class morality. He argues with his well-off parents (Claude Rae and Charmion King), who disown him after a traffic offense. He emancipates, drops out of school and moves into an apartment, working menial jobs. His girlfriend...

What did Jason Statham get up to before he became an action superstar? Hint: it involved quite a lot of metallic body paint...
The other week, a piece of footage hit the internet which sent ripples through the very foundations of our culture. It wasn’t an alternative angle on the Zapruder footage. It didn’t show a well-loved celebrity being debauched in a hotel room. It wasn’t a leak of the Star Wars: Episode VII trailer. No, it was the BBC posting a clip of a young Jason Statham diving for England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.
It took us back to a time when names like Chev Chelios, Frank Martin and Lee Christmas were just twinkles in a screenwriter’s eye. Back to the 90s, when The Stath was merely a diver-turned-male-model, jobbing his way in adverts and music videos. Come with us now...

Tea Leoni will make her return to television in the new CBS drama Madam Secretary.
Tea Leoni To Star In 'Madam Secretary'
In Madam Secretary, Leoni will play newly appointed secretary of state Elizabeth McCord. Elizabeth’s husband will be played by Tom Daly. Though Leoni’s character is starting off in the cabinet in the West Wing, the actress is optimistic that McCord will one day make her play for the presidency.
“Wait until year four,” Leoni said Thursday at the Television Critics Association.
Leoni also addressed why she’s deciding to return to television now, when she’s turned down a number of offers over the years. The mother of two revealed that now that her kids are older, she’s in a position where she can spend more time away from home to commit herself to a TV project.
"My kids at 15 and 12 are ready.

Olympic diver Tom Daley and his Oscar-winning screenwriter boyfriend Dustin Lance Black have moved in together in London.
Tom Daley, Dustin Lance Black Move In Together
Black, 39, has reportedly moved in to Daley’s apartment in East London that looks over Olympic Park. Though Black has long called L.A. home, he now only visits it on occasion so that his pals don’t “think he’s died,” he told the Daily Mail. As for London, he said he’s “enjoying it there.”
Black had been making his red carpet debut with Daley, 19, at Battersea Power Station’s annual party when he made his candid remarks about living with the athlete. For the night out, the couple showed up in coordinating outfits – both sporting leather jackets, denim button-ups and sneakers.

In the wake of Nelson Mandela’s death Thursday, many celebrities took to social media, including Oprah Winfrey and Morgan Freeman, to express their condolences for the late South African president. And shortly after the news broke, blogs re-posted a tweet allegedly sent out by socialite Paris Hilton confusing Mandela with Martin Luther King Jr.
Here’s a look at the tweet:
Now, Hilton says it was all a hoax. She took to her actual Twitter account to respond:
Just landed & heard the sad new about Nelson Mandela. He was a true Hero & the world is a better place because of him.

Happy birthday to Best Actress winner Joan Fontaine (Suspicion, 1941), also known as the second Mrs. DeWinter. She turns 93 years young today. What on earth was she thinking about when she won the Oscar. This photo to your left fascinates me on account of "who knows?" It seems so much more candid than many Oscar night photos.
I keep the following "still with us!" list, not from any morbid curiousity but from a genuine happiness that some legendary screen stars are still walking the earth even though most of them aren't walking the screens these days. This year has been rough with the losses so maybe I'm going to stop keep this list. My heart was in the right place! We want the following to know that their past accomplishments are acknowledged by new generations.

All of them were born before the movies even had sound!
