We all know Dirk Bogarde can act well. His months of practice at the piano showed and.. his women- capucine "Princess" and his "countess" did a superb job. Often movies like this can be trite, too historical and less a directorial/ acting triumph but this was.
I know much was written about the actual music and its playing - and all of it seems true - well chosen pieces that helped the movie flow.
How many of us today know the keys are not even touched by the actors and it always leaves a bad taste - but seeing Bogarde "act" teaches us a lot given he had never played before this movie.
Worth seeing.
