The Family Stone (2005)
The Family Stone's Review
The Family Stone's story is simple, and bring nothing new to this genre. Sarah Jessica Parker, Dermot Mulroney, Craig T. Nelson, Diane Keaton, Claire Dannes, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Elisabeth Reaser,Paul Schneider are in it.
I bought the DVD when i'm shopping at one mall on last year's Christmas. I know that this movie is going to be like another holiday movie theme, but i love this kind of movie.
I agree to people who said that this one is good. Yes, even for the cliché story, it still good. I laughed, and i cried. But one thing that left me disappointed is the chemistry between the lead(SJP and Mulroney). Its impact that me rated this movie 5/10.
Green Lantern (2011)
My Preview on Green Lantern
The film is about a pilot who had an accident , discovered an alien who got crashed too , and decided to help him. And alien gave the power he has to him trough the ring.
What got this film so wrong is that the film is only a film. It feels too animated, and it doesn't live in our heart. Even animated can move our feeling.
On the paper, it seems like Ryan Reynolds is the perfect choice. But, he made Hal Jordan look annoying and doesn't get my sympathy, I think i'm not the only one with this.
And the love story is so cheesy. There are two element that actually bumped this a little bit, Mark Strong and the Make-Up department.
If you're a DC Comics Fans, be ready for the worst.
I Am Number Four (2011)
Bland, Dull, Emotion-less, Chemistry-free
I Am Number Four tells the story of a young boy named John Smith but the real name is Number four, that actually an alien who escapes from his planet from the Bounty-Hunter. The Hunter only hunt based on their numbers. because the 3 others alien before him is already hunted, now Number-Four must escape from Hunters.
This was a failed try from D.J. Carusso (I like Eagle Eye , Disturbia is an okay for me). It's just too painful too see teenagers with wooden acting and chemistry-free(hello Alex Pettyfer, Dianna Agron, and Teresa Palmer), and the characters is so forgettable that you don't even care about. Don't make me comment on screenplay.
That's it. DON'T SEE IT.
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Great collaboration beetween Emma Thompson and Ang Lee
The movie is so long (about 130 minutes). But it didn't made me feel bore. Because what Ang Lee did with directory and Emma did with Screenplay is superb. So magical on what Emma translated the word in Jane Austen's novel to her Screenplay.
The Movie is so charming, especially with hugh grant in it. Although he is still 'Hugh Grant', but the quirkiness inside Hugh's personality made him a likable leading male. For Kate Winslet, it safe to say that she is is a scene stealer in this movie. Emma Thompson is great in front of the camera. And it is so refreshing to see Alan Rickman taking a role as a nice englishman with a charm.
Ang Lee + Emma's screenplay + top notch acting = 'must see' movie/'must own the DVD' movie.
Pride & Prejudice (2005)
Epic Love Story
It is a very predictable movie. But, there's something about it that made you feel, say it 'in love'. After watched the movie, i laughed like a crazy person. It's just a sweet, smart romantic-comedy.
The cinematography is very eye-catching. And the Acting is very brilliant, led by Miss Knighley and the charm of Mr. McFadyen + the support from the supporting cast made this is a must-see for you guys who haven't see it. But, what bother me most, is the fact that Why Matthew McFadyen is not a A-List actor after doing this movie? Keira became a huge star after doing this, so why he isn't.
A perfect feel-good movie, for sure.
Lone Star (1996)
You are not alone, "Lone Star"
This is a complex movie, for sure. And i like it because of that.
I watch this movie twice. At my first watch, i thought the movie is an okay, i rated it 6/10. But, it made me think, how could a movie this good is an okay for me? So, I decided to watch it again last night. And, ..... wow!!! The acting, the cinematography, the screenplay(the best part from this movie, i guess), and score match together like it made by heaven. It has more than one messages, but don't worry . John Sayles(Director) invited us in a believable way. In my opinion, the twist is one of the best.
Bravo!!!!
