Scarface (1932)
shoot em up bang bang
this 1932 film really caught my attention. i don't like old fashion mobster films but this one i enjoyed. taking place during the time of bootlegging the theme and setting was perfect for this film. each seen was exciting and filled with action. because this film was shot during the time of the code approval this film doesn't have much blood involved. but don't worry it doesn't take away from the action. in this film they give you a better view of how tony and his sister might have a relationship bordering incest. where in the modern films it just looks like hes an over protective brother. this film was different from modern mobster films only because in films today you see more of the illegal actions that the characters do but the concept is still the same.
Don't Change Your Husband (1919)
a romantic comedy with a twist
don't change your husband was movie t hat i really enjoyed. i think in all relationships at one time or another people feel like they wish they could change the one their with. the movie kept me interested with the story plot and mad me laugh at times. in the movie the characters did a good job interacting with each other. the body language and movements better give you a feeling of the emotion each character is trying to express. the feelings of each character really lured you into the movie. the tittle really fits this movie because in the end thats exactly how Gloria Swanson character was feeling.this movie is a lesson to all relationships to watch out for what you get your self into before you get there.
My Man Godfrey (1936)
screw ball
i liked this screw ball comedy.this week in m class we learned that older movies had to get a stamp of approval and abide by a code during the movie. in this movie you actually care about what happens to the character like if something bad was going to happen to them because t hey were around something bad being that it was standard in the code for this to happen. there was also a lot of great camera work going on in the movie that planted clues on what was going to happen next in the move. the movie was funny and blunt in many ways. it reminded me of modern films. the speaking in the movie was fast so you had to pay attention to what was going on in the movie.it was a great movie in all.
Frankenstein (1931)
it was a OK movie
in the movie they covered sens greatly.the mies-en-scene in the movie was great. they used things like the sound of thunder to intensify the manner of things that was going on.it helped set the mood as something scary or mysterious going on in this movie. they planted things in the sens to better help you get the feeling of the mood of what was going on in the movie. the use of the other characters emotions help suck you into the movie. the movie plot was good. the ending i thought could of been better it left viewers feeling confused and unclear about what happened to Dr. Frankenstein himself. the visual theme in the ending sen was great.
I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932)
action packed and EMPATHETIC
this movie was good a 9 out of 10. the concept is something a lot of solders can relate to being lots of them are coming back from the war and finding it hard to find jobs. and wanting something different to do other then what they were doing prior to going to the war. the sound works for this film because it the characters better. movies without sound the acting had to be More dramatic and over the top to get the point across but with the sound they didn't.Ii like it better when their actions are More realistic as in this movie. the movie sucks you into its drama and theme.the characters were believable and great to watch.
The Circus (1928)
It was a good movie.
It was a good movie. I normally don't like black and white movies
without sound but it worked for this movie. It helped capitalize on the simplicity of the movie. The over exaggeration of all t he actions shows how things such as "nock-Nock" jokes could still be funny. the movie shows how things back then could be exaggerated without being lame.with the movie being black and whit e you had to focus on the main picture rather then other things going on in the seen. it was a big difference from modern movies today. the twist in the movie are unique and original. it stands out form and other black and white movie that I've watched because it keeps you interested
