Schlock (1973)
SCHLOCK!!!
This movie is great, it knows exactly what it is, a parody of schlocky monster movies and i really enjoyed it. The ape suit by Rick Baker is really impressive for a first time, and It was really funny to think that John Landis dircted the film while being in the suit. The movie didn't really have a plot because it was about Schlock just doing random stuff, but the scenes have really funny gags in them and made me laugh a lot, mostly because of the unpredictability of what is going to happen next, and in the end they even parodied the ending for King Kong. A great and funny tribute to monster movies.
Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 (1987)
GARBAGE DAY!!!
Man, this was a ride, after watching the original Silent Night, Deadly Night, i was really looking forward to see this follow-up and believe it or not i loved it even more than the original. Eric Freeman's acting is probably the most famous part of this film and for a good reason, it's truly a sight to behold and i couldn't be without laughing when Freeman delivered his lines and makes his hilarious and goofy face expressions, you could just skip the original and watch this instead because the first 40 minutes were just a recap of the original, this film wasn't even supposed to be a sequel and instead a re-release of the original but with Freeman's voiceover. This was a fantastic bad movie that i will definitely watch every Christmas.
Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004)
You missed! With a Cannon!
So i watched the first 4 Tremors movies and i loved them a lot, now i'm a huge Tremors fan. And i was originally thinking that i would review the Tremors movies in the release order, but then i thought that, you know what, screw it, i'll review the Tremors movies in the order i feel like reviewing them, so let's start from the beginning with Tremors 4: The Legend Begins, this is a prequel to the entire Tremors franchise and it's great, and by far my favorite movie of the franchise. This movie is a lot of fun, and while it doesn't have much Graboids in it, it's still really entertaining and kept me interested, the characters are great, Hiram Gummer who was Burt's great-grandfather was a fun character and even though he wasn't like Burt we all know and love, he had his own charm. The humor in this movie is again really great, and i loved the western setting, the Graboid scenes are this time made with practical effects and doesn't rely much on CGI like the 3rd one, which is a big plus, and the ways they kill the Graboids are fricking Amazing, there was this one scene where a guy puts a two-man saw into the ground and the Graboid just smashes through it. The score is pretty good but i don't think it is the best of the series, the character of Black Hand Kelly was great but unfortunately he died. The poster for this film is also really great even though a bit cheesy, it at least has finally and actual Graboid in it, so yeah, Tremors 4 has fun and memorable characters, a pretty good score, great humor, even greater practical effects, good plot, great action scenes, and is overall a satisfying way to end a series (even though cronologically it's the first) and is so far my favorite movie of the series! The Tremors franchise is a good example of "how a good and passionate team can make a great franchise that has a good reason to exist without messing things up"
And overall i'll give it: "10 Dirt Dragons (out of 10)".
Squirm (1976)
You gonna be da' worm face!
I remember watching this movie from my TV, when i was still in primary school, and being scared to death, to ever watch it again, the worm close ups really terrified me and triggered my vermiphobia, but now when i'm already in middle school, i don't find it as scary as i remebered it to be, but i would have loved if it would have been, but even if it isn't, it's still a fun film nonetheless, it certainly isn't as bad as people say it would be, but as much as i like this film, i still have a few issues with it, the biggest issue for me is that it's not even that scary snd there is not much worm stuff, and i would have loved to see gruesome worm kills (besides the scene where worms are crawling into Roger's face and when Roger is in the pile of worms), in those Rick Baker's effects would have really shined if there were more kills, and yes, Rick Baker was working on this film, and even the composer of the Psycho theme, Bernard Herrmann was supposed to make the score for this movie, but unfortunately died before the production of this movie, and even though Robert Prince's score is good and works really well with the movie and the theme of the movie "Shadows" is a hauntingly beatiful song, i still can't stop thinking about how much Bernard Herrmann's score would have made the movie even better, and even Sylvester Stallone was supposed to play Roger in the movie, think how cool that would have been, and even Kim Basinger herself auditioned for the role of Geri, but Lieberman didn't give her the part and is now calling himself and idiot for doing that, but seriously, so much well known people in a movie like this, it's sad that the only well known person in the production of this movie was Rick Baker, but the cast that ended up being in the movie did a good job playing their roles, even though the southern accent that the actors are making is a bit over the top. The characters in the film are pretty dumb, but likable, my favorite is Roger for obvious reasons, and the opening scene of the movie is in my humble opinion, one of the finest openings that could be in a horror movie, and there's a really great climax, the 1st and 3rd acts are great, but the 2nd act suffers the most and i was feeling like watching a detective film, also the plot of the movie reminds me of The Blob. But overall Squirm has pretty fun characters, an okay plot, great special effects, pretty good music, okay acting, a great opening and climax, and the cherry on the top, the poster which is one of the best poster art i have ever seen in my entire life, i love it so much, that i even have it on my wall and have a T-Shirt with it. Overall, while Squirm isn't a masterpiece by any means, it still has it's own memorable moments.
Also check out the MST3K version, it's a lot of fun!
King Kong (1976)
And the Legend is Reborn!
Ah yes the nostalgia i have for this movie, this was one of the first if not the first movie i ever saw, and this movie is the one introduced me to the world of filmmaking and monster movies, and even though this is not as great as i remebered it to be, and not as good as the original which is my favorite movie of all time, despite the flaws, this remake is still a pretty good take on the giant ape, it certainly has it's moments, and focuses more on the love story and that's why it doesn't feature any dinosaurs and even though it bothers me a bit, I'm already used to it because King Kong himself has a lot of screentime, so there's plenty of time to see a monster on the screen (even though it sometimes gets a bit weird) and there's a Giant Boa, so that's something, now moving on to the other stuff, the characters are pretty good, Charles Grodin plays a great villain called Fred Wilson, and Jeff Bridges is also pretty good but the character that gets bashed the most is usually Jessica Lange's character called Dwan but let's get one thing out of the way first, Jessica Lange looks absolutely beatiful in this movie, but moving on, so as i said Jessica Lange's character usually gets bashed the most and i can torally see that her acting isn't the greates in this one you gotta remeber that this is her first movie, and she actually won a Golden Globe award for the Best Acting Debut in a Motion Picture. The effects in this one are Amazing the King Kong suit is done by none other than the legendary makeup artist Rick Baker, and i gotta say all the animatronic hands, Kong's facial movements look great and that's why this is my favorite Kung Kong design by far, and also i really love the roar of this Kong, it truly sound majestic and frightening, there was also buil a lifesize King Kong animatronic but it was barely working so it ended up being in the mivie for only less that 10 seconds, but overall there isn't that much negative stuff to say about this movie, the only real issues on this movie i have are the no inclusion of dinosaurs and the pacing, i should also poin out the ending which is a bit meanspiriting because Jack and Dwan never reunite, sure you could say that they didn't get to eachother but seriously, it's sad to see a scene whete a giant monkey is killed and a woman which was probably his only friend by then just being showered with tears and the person that could calm her down a bit is not able to get near her, that really shows that the real monsters of the movie, the music in this one is also really great and memorable, the opening theme already gives a sense of fear an mystery, the climax of the movie where Kong climbs on the World Trade Center instead of the Empire State Building and i gotta say that this movie is probably on of the goriest King Kong movie out there, when he fights the Giant Boa he just rips the damn thing in half and dueing the climax he just sprays blood and is completely covered in it, the climaxes of the original nor the Peter Jackson version weren't as bloody as this one, but overall while it isn't the best Kong film in my opinion it still has it's moments and i would definitely recommend this to Kong fans and fans of monster movies.
King Kong (1933)
One of the GREATEST Movies Ever Made!
Wow, this movie looks super amazing for 1933, the idea of a giant gorilla climbing on top of a building with a girl sounds kinda silly but how it is executed in this movie is really great, also Skull Island and stop-motion dinosaurs in the movie are mixed really well with live-action, and are animated very well by Willis O'Brien and the score by Max Steiner is excellent and memorable and makes the movie more immersive, there is also really great characters, Robert Armstrong makes a great performance playing Carl Denham and is not as evil as in later versions and even tries to help in the rescue of Ann when Kong captures her and climbs on the Empire State Building! Jack Driscoll on the other hand is pretty bland, He's just there to save Ann and not much is known about him compared to Ann Darrow or Carl Denham but Bruce Cabot makes a great performance, Ann Darrow is again well portrayed by Fay Wray but there is one thing about her character that kinda annoys me, she screams all the time when she is with Kong, yes i know she is scared and i would too if i would be close to an oversized gorilla but compared to Kong (1976) or Kong (2005) the girls in those movies interacted better with Kong rather than screaming all the time, but all that aside this movie is "Fantastic" and if you have time, then watch this movie, it is worth your time! And that's why it is my FAVORITE Movie of All Time!
Gojira: Fainaru uôzu (2004)
All Against Godzilla!
This movie was made during the 50th anniversary of godzilla so they wanted to make something special and they did, even though the plot with aliens is a bit overused in the Godzilla series it is easily forgiven because of how many monsters are in the movie, all the monsters in the movie are Godzilla, his son, Mothra, Ghidorah, Gigan, Anguirus, Rodan, King Caesar, Kamacuras, Kumunga, Manda, Hedorah, Ebirah, and even the American Godzilla! There is not much Godzilla in the movie but that is not a big problem here just because there is already very much monsters to keep me entertained, so if you just need non-stop monster action then this movie is just for you!
Stranger Things (2016)
Back to the 80s
This show is great and i recommend it to everyone because it has very good storytelling, very good plot and very awesome and likable characters.
I personally liked every season 1-4, and i am ready to watch season 5.
And as i wrote, this show has very good characters that are very likable and you actually care about them.
And it captures the feel of the 80's very well, and the music is very good too, even the kid actors in the earliest seasons were really good and they had really good acting skills.
The effects in this show are excellent even the fricking cgi looks realistic.
And this show has also really great monsters.
So my final thought's are that i recommend this to everyone Who likes 80's movies
10/10.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Dissapointing movie
This is a dissapointment because it had a great marketing and included LUKE SKYWALKER but turned out to be a boring dissapointment with Rey pretty much the whole movie asking for Luke to help, and sometimes seeing Finn and Zoe scenes that are a bit entertaining. Luke in this movie does pretty much nothing and it was just very dissapointed because i was excited to see Luke in this movie but not like this.
The end part is surprisingly good and entertaining even if the throne room scene was very flawed.
This was still very dissapointing and boring movie for me and i would want to have the poster for the movie rather that get the movie itself.
