Let's Bowl (2001–2002)
Stupidity personified
3 September 2001
When is Comedy Central going to learn that these stupid theme game shows DO NOT WORK. We had "Make me Laugh" and "VS.", both which lasted about a week. This one falls right in line with those turds.

I saw the first show and, I was left to wonder how can they make this last over several more episodes. The show was unfunny to start with, but I thought they took the bowling comedy about as far as anyone could take it(maybe i'm wrong).

If somebody from Comedy Central reads this, maybe put "Upright Citizens Brigade" back on. This show is not too good.

Election (1999)
Very entertaining and funny...
2 August 2001
This movie hads a great pace to it and fantastic character development. This is a very jaded black comedy. Masterfully done...

Broderick was fantastic with his portrayal of the unsure, envious teacher in a rut. It was good to see him play a complex character as this one. I wasnt sure if I disliked him for being so stupid or just felt sorry for him as his life unraveled so spectacularly in such a short amount of time.

There were so many twist and turns that involved all the main characters that I couldnt wait to see how it would all turn out.

The narration by all the players giving background as to why they are the way they are was great. Especially Chris Klein, he had the gem of the whole thing(after school, we would go back to my house...).

Rent it. If the black comedy is your thing, you will love this!

Here on Earth (2000)
corny cheese, or is it cheesy corn...either way skip it.
3 April 2001
Warning: Spoilers
POSSIBLY SOME SPOILERS*** This flick caused me to dry heave massively while watching it. So many sappy lines in this one. So many forced emotional scenes.

LeeLee looks good but, the girl cannot act. Chris Klein needs to stick to comedy. The shafted boyfriend(Jasper)probably did the best acting job.

So many cliches, too many to count. Boy and girl from different side of the tracks fall in love, much to the shagrin of her current boyfriend and her family, the girl is dying ( I think it was some kind of uncurable knee cancer), boyfriend and new guy have many confrontations, and finally said boyfriend slides out of the way so she can be happy (because he LOVES her).

Such bad acting and predictable writing make this movie absolutely horrible.

I felt sick.

biting satire, very clever film
7 February 2001
Natasha Lyonne's character plays the all american teen girl. Cheerleader, boyfriend is the quarterback. But she is sent to a rehab because her friends and relatives believe she is gay. Once at the rehab this movie really takes off.

Cathy Moriarty is great in this film, and "Bull" from "Night Court" has a cameo as a gay man who used to be in the rehab. The other residents (especially the guys) are hilarious.

This movie is very smart and really takes a shot at intolerance. It also brings to light some of the barriers society puts in front of those in the gay community. I love satirical films and this is a good one.

This movie is a big giant stupid cornball
18 October 2000
This movie was obviously made for the prepubecent WB crowd. They should stick all these actors and actresses in a crate and throw it into Niagra Falls, that way they can chase their credibility as actors and actresses. Ryan Philippe is an idiot and Gellar should stick to playing Buffy. I used to like Reese Witherspoon until I saw this. If you compare this to Dangerous Liason, CI gets a woodshed butt-whoopin of galactic proportions except for one scene...the Gellar and the other chick frenching under the tree.

But then again, my zip poppin' days are over and maybe I am just "out of touch".

OK film

Vince Vaughn is one of my favorite actors. He makes the single father role extremly genuine. The guys is diverse. The kid and he are great together. There is a scene where the father eavedrops on his son and a playmate at daycare that had me laughing like crazy. The movie was slow, but had some real dialoge gems. Joey Lauren does her normal thing. I like her, but only when she gets naked.

Great film
18 October 2000
This movie made me feel good. It gave me faith that good can come out of almost any situation. And that it is possible to survive in a seemingly hopeless situation. I have seen this show three or four times on cable.

The characters in this movie are some of the most memorable ever. And I mean all of them.

I like the remake of the song "Try a little tenderness".

Magnolia (1999)
Great movie, great soundtrack
29 March 2000
I cant say that I "enjoyed" this movie. But I am glad that I saw it. It was a great piece of filmwork about regret and redemption. To me, was very taxing emotionally. There were simply alot of bummer situations. So, when I say I didn't enjoy seeing it, does not mean I didnt think it was good. I also wouldn't like to see "Schindler's List" again even though it was a great film.

The soundtrack was spectacular, especially "One is the loneliest number" redone by Aimee Mann.

Tom Cruise, John C. Reilly and William H. Macy were great as usual.

Amazing film
29 March 2000
A great story about the tragedy of going through the motions, alienation and, taking loved ones for granted and, realizing what is really important if you look deep inside yourself.

Spacey, Benning, Chris Cooper, and the kid with the video camera were awesome in their roles. The dialogue and narration was very moving and emotional. It deserves all the praise it is getting.

Some people I know wont go see it because "Its that movie where the old guy hooks up with the teenage chick". Don't make that mistake, go see it...

"Saucers? You mean the kind from up there?"
19 February 1999
I have got to hand it to Ed Wood, the man really tried. He accidentally made one of the better comedies of the 50's. You really have to see this movie to appreciate how bad it is. It has everything: bad acting, bad directing, bad writing and poor scenery. I understand that describes a lot of movies coming out of Hollywood today ( But today we have a thing called the "car chase" and "gratuitous sex and violence" to take our attention off of it.)

The dialogue for "Plan 9" had me laughing out loud at times. From Criswell's opening narration to Eros' breakdown of how a 'Solaranite' explosion works ("Your stupid minds! Stupid! Stupid!")

As far as the filming goes, I liked how it could go from night time, to day time and back again about three or four times during any given sequences. Also the stand-in and file footage used after Bela Lugosi died was poorly done. The stand in was taller and much younger than Bela, but Wood had the actor hold his cape over his face so the audience wouldn't notice. One scene with Bela has the stand-in with the cape at night on a very bad studio set, then it cuts to file footage of the real Lugosi during the day, filmed on location somewhere and then switches back again.

Needless to say there was not much to enjoy from a quality standpoint, but I will say that Tor Johnson did a very convincing zombie. He looked freaky.

Anyway if you have two hours to kill and $1.50 in your pocket, rent this film. It's good for a few unintentional laughs.

The Postman (1997)
An entertaining post-apocalyptic epic
27 January 1999
I heard all the bad reviews about this film, but still wanted to see it. The idea caught my interest, so I gave it a look.

This movie held my interest for most of its three hours. The story kind of wandered for about twenty minutes and got boring, but it recovered nicely. I didn't care much for the corny dialogue, but the musical score and scenery were very good.

Larenz Tate did a very good job, and it was cool to see Tom Petty make a cameo appearance.

No way was this show deserving of the horrible reviews it received. But, I don't take much stock in them anyhow...

ugh.

Wanted to shut this one off several times. Phillippe's acting leaves much to be desired. I'm not even sure what Neve Campbell was doing in the movie, her and Phillippe's relationship hardly gets out of the gate. The director didn't do a very good job of meshing his fictional story with Studio 54's history.

hilarious

A fictional documentary about three middle class kids turned gangster rappers as told by A. White (played by Chris Elliot) in the spirit of Spinal Tap.

A very entertaining and funny, yet very offensive movie. It pokes a little fun at the hip-hop industry and the people associated with it...
