Crikey! “Neighbours,” the famed Australian soap opera that helped launch the careers of superstars like Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie, Russell Crowe, Chris Hemsworth, Guy Pearce, Liam Hemsworth and Natalie Imbruglia, is getting its first-ever Emmy love.
The show, which has received several nominations and wins via Australian and U.K. TV awards shows, is now a contender on this continent. As an Amazon Freevee show, “Neighbours” has been nominated for the 2024 Daytime Emmys alongside CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless,” as well as Peacock’s “Days of Our Lives,” ABC’s “General Hospital” and Popstar! There’s change on the high seas of Banijay.
Christian Sarabia, President of 51 Minds Entertainment, the production company behind Bravo hit Below Deck, is stepping down from the Banijay Americas-owned business.
Julie Pizzi, President of fellow Banijay-backed firm Bunim/Murray, will add overseeing 51 Minds to her responsibilities running the Real World producer.
It is the latest change for the group; earlier this year, Cris Abrego, who founded 51 Minds, stepped down as CEO of Banijay Americas with Ben Samek taking over that role and Abrego remaining as Chairman. There’s been much speculation about Abrego’s own role in recent months.
Sarabia has been with 51 Minds for many years, having produced series such as The Surreal Life and Flavor of Love. He took the reins at the company in 2014 after Abrego became one of the top execs at the-then titled Endemol North America and the departure of co-founder Mark Cronin.

Trying to get transparent streaming numbers is harder than trying to pull an infected tooth from a rabid animal, but the Nielsen streaming chart sure does try. Their most recent report (via The Hollywood Reporter) shows that, once again, "Suits" is dominating the streaming charts despite the show going off the air in 2019. The legal drama originally aired on USA Network for nine seasons but pulled in an impressive 3.7 billion minutes viewed this past week, breaking the single-week record for a library show on the Nielsen streaming chart for the third time in a row.
But "Suits" is not alone in breaking records, as the groundbreaking children's series, "Bluey" hit its first billion-minute week on Disney+, coming in second with 1.35 billion minutes streamed. This is the highest a Disney+ series has ever ranked on the Nielsen streaming charts, outperforming any of the Marvel or "Star Wars" shows put out by the platform.

The final episodes of Jack Ryan lifted the show to its highest spot on the Nielsen streaming chart since the debut of its third season in late 2022.
Suits, meanwhile, continued its record-setting run atop the acquired series charts, breaking the single-week record for a library show on the chart for the third time in a row. Bluey also recorded its first billion-minute week with the release of more episodes on Disney+.
Jack Ryan drew 1.15 billion minutes of viewing on Amazon’s Prime Video for the week of July 10-16, which featured the release of its final two episodes. The series grew 19 percent from the previous week’s 966 million minutes and hit its highest weekly total since late December 2022, when the binge release of season three had 1.67 billion minutes of viewing.
