Adam Beach must leave his family in a desperate attempt to protect them in an exclusive first look at “Exile,” which you can watch above.
The trailer lays out the high concept. Ted Evans is being menaced by a man connected to a prior sin. He previously was in a fatal auto accident while driving under the influence. The man whose family he killed is about to be released from prison. The deal: “You leave your family, or I kill your family.” However, his wife isn’t so willing to give up on him. Of course, that’s because she thinks that the threat is not tangible but rather a manifestation of his guilt.
Written by Michael Beaton and directed by Jason James, “Exile” will be distributed by Electric Entertainment and released Oct. 10 on VOD. Amber Ripley and Sammie Astaneh are producers. Ellie Fox, Mark Williams, Tai Duncan and Jhod Cardinal...

Taylor Swift goes with “The Summer I Turned Pretty” like Belly belongs with one of the Fisher boys. Before the latest episode of the show, which includes a clip of Belly and Jeremiah set to “Delicate,” Taylor Swift only played during moments between Belly and Conrad.
Jenny Han herself has confirmed the special connection between her Prime Video TV show and the songstress’ work. The release date of Season 2 of the show and “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) were announced so close together, with the cast wearing a lot of purple (the coded “Speak Now” color of the era). Then “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” debuted in the trailer for Season 2. “August” from “folklore” got a special treatment for the teaser trailer.
With Season 3’s renewal announcement Thursday, the possibilities of which songs will feature next are endless, especially as the strike extends and Swift continues to re-record her masters.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 2 finale of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty.
After waiting with bated breath for the Season 2 finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty, it’s finally here.
If you haven’t seen Episode 8 yet, click away and come back when you’re ready for spoilers. And if you’ve managed to wipe your tears from the hotel scene, then it’s time to talk about that and more.
The finale deals a devastating blow from the start, as Conrad (Chris Brinley) catches Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) making out on his car. He’s just aced his final exam so he can transfer to Stanford, and he’s ready to implement his plan to get Belly back. His confidence and excitement are short lived, though, once he sees his brother and his ex-girlfriend locking lips.

Swift has been a music star for half of her life. She was only 16 when her self-titled debut was released in 2006. That country breakthrough was certified seven-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for its massive sales, and it earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. But it was her next album that exploded her career.

On June 22nd, 1993, Liz Phair released her debut album and indie rock masterpiece, Exile in Guyville. In honor of its 30th anniversary, the artist has shared a freshly unearthed outtake from the record, “Miss Lucy.” Check it out below.
Fans may recognize “Miss Lucy” from Phair’s Girly Sound tapes, which she spread around her home of Chicago before releasing Guyville properly (and has since reissued). But this version of the song was recorded with Brad Cook during the Guyville sessions, only to be left off the record in favor of the song “Flower.”
And like “Flower,” “Miss Lucy” is a salacious, brooding number that sees Phair flex her lowest register over a simple guitar riff, although its subject matter leans on the darker side. “And the boys and the boys, they are fucking/ And the girls and the girls, they are fucking/ And the girls and the boys, they...

Thirty years ago, Liz Phair released her indie-rock masterpiece Exile in Guyville, on June 22, 1993. It’s a massive moment in the history of the Weird Girl canon. Liz was just an ordinary twenty-something geek in the Chicago indie scene of Wicker Park, going out every night to see hipster bands, hanging out in dive bars, and getting her heart broken. It was a Guyville, where she was just another girl. But she had a secret that nobody knew: she was writing songs about the whole experience. And she was singing...

Like many successful rock musicians, Bruce Springsteen grew up on a steady diet of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. He spent hours teaching himself a Keith Richards solo when he decided he wanted to be a lead guitarist and dreamed about getting onstage with the band. Years later, he performed a song with them in concert. Springsteen considers the band one of the best in the business, but he believes their catalog is underrated.
Bruce Springsteen said The Rolling Stones have always been better than their competition
In 2012, Springsteen joined The Rolling Stones onstage during a New Jersey concert to perform “Tumbling Dice.” He said that joining the band in rehearsals the day before was thrilling. Not only were they one of his favorite bands, but he thought of them as one of the best of all time.

Taylor Swift has jumped from country to pop, and now she also has a rock hit to her name. “The Alcott,” her collaboration with The National, just debuted on the Billboard Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, marking her first appearance on the list.
“The Alcott” debuted at No. 45 on the chart with 636,000 rock radio audience impressions, Billboard reports. While it signifies Swift’s first appearance on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, it’s the sixth appearance for The National, whose album First Two Pages of Frankenstein houses the song.
Swift has appeared on other rock-adjacent charts in the past. She’s been featured on Adult Alternative Airplay four times thanks to songs like “Exile,” which featured Bon Iver, “Coney Island,” another collaboration with The National, and “Snow on the Beach,” which featured vocals from Lana Del Rey.
“The Alcott” isn’t the only Swift track on the Billboard charts right now.

The turn of the new millennium marked a realignment in both global politics and pop culture. September 11th and the seemingly endless wars that followed obliterated the illusion of relative peace and prosperity that, in the late 20th century, lulled much of the Western world into a sense of complacency. The Chicks were blacklisted for speaking out against George W. Bush’s military adventures. And the music industry was on the brink of collapse, rocked by the rise of Napster and the ensuing digital revolution.
Amid all of it, the teen-pop bubble of the late 1990s finally popped. Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn's split after six years of dating has rocked fans of the Hollywood couple. According to an April 8 Entertainment Tonight report, the breakup happened weeks before it was made public and "was not dramatic." Apparently, "the relationship had just run its course."
Swift and Alwyn's relationship was incredibly sweet and low-key. They made very few official appearances together over the years, but Swift often alluded to their romance in her music, like when she sang about falling head over heels for the British actor in her song "Gorgeous." The lyrics recall her getting lost in his ocean-blue eyes, make fun of his British accent, and indicate she had a boyfriend when they first met (more on that later).
So, just how did the former lovebirds initially come into contact? The timeline is a little bit fuzzy, but it's believed the pair first met at...

“If you want to make a TV drama about opium smokers, sadomasochists and imperial slavery in the 19th century, then write your own,” whines The Daily Mail‘s Peter Hitchens about Steven Knight’s new Great Expectations adaptation, presumably forgetting that in 2017, Knight did exactly that in 8-part Gothic Regency thriller Taboo.
Knight’s previous series starring Tom Hardy, bleeds into his take on Charles Dickens’ class and snobbery novel, which loses the comedy and grimes up the characters with the addition of adult content. Great Expectations returns to Knight’s constant theme of social mobility, moving away from ones roots, and the upper classes being mad, evil bastards, as explored in six series of Peaky Blinders.

Love in Exile is not jazz, despite featuring pianist Vijay Iyer, a heavy in that world. Nor is it “global music” — whatever that means — even though it showcases Urdu vocalist Arooj Aftab, who won a Grammy in that category last year. Instead, listening to Love in Exile, which also features Shahzad Ismaily on bass and Moog, is more akin to visiting some sort of beautiful, strange sonic landscape made from strings, keys, and breath.
Since the trio first joined forces a few years ago, Iyer, Aftab, and Ismaily have been all about loose experimentation.

The always private Joe Alwyn had a rewarding lockdown with his girlfriend (or fiancée?), Taylor Swift, to say the least. While the 31-year-old actor/songwriter rarely discusses his relationship with one of the world's most famous pop stars, it seems he's not opposed to sharing a bit of insight into their creative process.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, the "Conversations With Friends" star revealed that scoring a Grammy for Swift's "Folklore" album was a "surreal bonus of lockdown." According to Alwyn, his contributions to "Folklore" - which included cowriting "Betty" and "Exile" using the pseudonym William Bowery - were an organic part of the couple having more free time on their hands during the 2020 lockdown.
"It wasn't like, 'It's five o'clock, it's time to try and write a song together,'" he told the publication. "It came about from messing around on a piano, and singing badly, then being overheard,...

Mexico’s most bankable stars, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, have teamed up with L.A. and Miami-based Exile Content to produce Travis Gutiérrez Senger’s documentary on the groundbreaking art group, “Asco: Without Permission.”
The documentary chronicles the Los Angeles based avant-garde art group Asco during the 1970s and ‘80s. Melding activism and art, they challenged Latinx representation in the art world, politics, and Hollywood through their provocative performance art, photography, video and muralism.
García Bernal and Luna will serve as executive producers with their production company La Corriente del Golfo producing alongside Los Angeles-based North of Now and Gutiérrez Senger’s Asa Nisi Masa Films, in association with Exile Content.

Taylordle is about to be the new buzzword of 2022. In response to the viral success of Wordle, created by software engineer Josh Wardle, Swifties have taken the word game and created six rows of blank spaces to be filled with everything from lyrics to the names of Swift's ex-lovers. "Swift," "Style," "Lover," "Exile," "Alwyn," the possibilities are as endless as our pre-emptive love for "Karma," the unreleased album we've all been waiting for.

Since they were given their heads, the big auteurs of modern TV have been its screenwriters. So “No Return” can be taken various ways. It’s an ITV series from Red Production Company, which has attracted huge heat producing Russell T. Davies’ “It’s a Sin” and “Years and Years.”

But it’s also the latest from Danny Brocklehurst, now one of the U.K.’s preeminent screenwriters.

Questlove likes to joke that when he first fell in love with the Rolling Stones, it was with all the “wrong” albums. Instead of long-celebrated classics like Aftermath, Sticky Fingers, or Exile on Main St., his favorite records were It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll, Black and Blue, Emotional Rescue, and Undercover, among others.

The news about Charlie Watts, who died yesterday at 80, deeply impacted the Rolling Stones drummer’s colleagues and peers — but also subsequent generations of rockers. Like the Stones, the Black Keys cut their teeth on blues songs and went on to write their own material, songs that never lost sight of their gritty origins.
For the last show of their 50th-anniversary tour, at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center in December 2012, the Stones invited the Black Keys to join them onstage. (Other guests: Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, and John Mayer.

Surviving Faces members Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, and Kenney Jones have reformed to record new songs, according to a new interview with Wood in The Times. The trio has reunited for a handful of brief live appearances in recent years, but there hasn’t been a new Faces album since 1973’s Ooh La La. A spokesperson for Stewart did not immediately respond to Rolling Stones’ request for comment.

Liz Phair has released the new video for “The Game.” She dropped her latest Soberish single at midnight on Thursday, just before the album’s official Friday release via Chrysalis. It’s her first studio LP in 11 years following 2010’s Funstyle.
In the confessional-styled clip, Phair addresses the camera as she sings about a relationship that isn’t meeting needs. “By this time tomorrow/You’re gonna be so far away,” she sings. “And every time I think we’re solid/You change the game.”

Like seemingly all the awards shows this season, the 63rd Grammy Awards were filled with surprises, ranging from unprecedented record-breaking splits to a significant number of upsets. Not only that, we also saw a lot of solid trends broken this year, much like we saw in the nominations earlier in the season. Let’s take a dive into the biggest and weirdest moments of the night.

With the 2021 Grammys just around the corner on March 14, the question on everyone’s mind is who will come out on top. Especially this year, with award shows seemingly harder to predict than ever (we’re looking at you Andra Day and Alejandro Sanz), a couple of artists could potentially take home more awards than expected, while others may underperform.
Scoring nine nominations this year including Record of the Year (twice) and Song of the Year, it’s safe to say Beyoncé has to win something at least. Her best bets are probably in genre categories, with “Black Parade” leading the odds for Best R&b Song and Best R&b Performance, as well as her Megan Thee Stallion collaboration “Savage” ahead so far in our predictions for Best Rap Performance.

BTS made Grammy history in November when their song “Dynamite” got a nomination for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Not only were they the first K-pop act ever to receive a Grammy nom, but they also joined an elite group of boy bands that have managed to get Grammy recognition, something most 2010s boy bands like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer failed to do in recent years. With “Dynamite,” they joined Nsync, Backstreet Boys and Boyz II Men among the famous groups that have broken through.
“Dynamite’s” nomination wasn’t really a surprise. The song was an instant hit, spending multiple weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, and BTS did an extensive campaign, including NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert” series and a week-long residency at Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show.” Also, Pop Duo/Group Performance wasn’t very crowded this year, furthering their chances at this historic nom.

There were a lot of surprises in the Grammy nominations for pop, just as there were across all categories at the often head-scratching awards this year. Twenty years ago, Radiohead released their greatest album, Kid A. It dropped on October 2nd, 2000, and instantly hit Number One, with zero airplay. The electro-glitch masterpiece was controversial at the time, but the mess Radiohead made on Kid A is a thing of beauty forever. Its mystique just keeps growing — in Rolling Stone’s new poll on the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, the voters put Kid A right up there at number 20. If the music sounds timely these days, maybe it’s because the world has gotten more Kid A–like.

The Hong Kong International Film Festival has taken the unusual decision of revealing the pictures it selected for its now canceled 44th edition. It also plans to award prizes in its competition sections, though there will be neither in-person or online screenings for the public.
The festival had previously rescheduled its 44th edition from its usual slot in March, due to the first wave of the coronavirus outbreak. And then set Aug 18-31 Aug. dates instead. We've all got Taylor Swift's Folklore on repeat, and her new album is full of must-listen tracks with tons to unpack. The song "Exile" is one of the highlights of the album: a bittersweet duet about a failed relationship. But, what do the lyrics actually mean?
The song is a duet with Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, with Vernon and Swift "playing" the roles of ex-lovers looking back at their relationship and its aftermath. In the first verse, Vernon's character sings about seeing his ex with a new man, hurt that "it took you five whole minutes/To pack us up and leave me with it." Swift's character responds by noting that she knows exactly what's up and she knows her ex is seeing her new relationship: "I can see you starin' honey/Like he's just your understudy."
It's the chorus, though, that reveals the heart of the song:...
