Alien parasites, blood, gore and laughter; it is all here...
paul_haakonsen1 July 2012
Actually "Brain Dead" was a nice surprise for a zombie movie that doesn't brandish a several million dollar Hollywood budget. Sure the story here doesn't offer anything new to the zombie genre, and actually borrows heavily from the classic horror movie "The Evil Dead".

The story is about a meteor striking Earth, and amazingly enough strikes through the forehead of a fisherman. The meteor, of course, is carrying some alien parasite which takes over the body of the fisherman and instantaneously turns him into a mutant zombie-like creature. Two convicts escape from the local police and seek shelter in a remote cabin. Two hiking women lost in the woods seek shelter in the cabin. And a lusty televangelist and one of his congregation girls seek shelter in the cabin. These unlikely destinies come together and band together for surviving the night, as ravenous space mutant-zombies are stalking the dark woods.

Yeah, fairly average story here, and actually, the movie wasn't carried by the plot of the story. "Brain Dead" was carried by the rather outstanding acting performances by almost every single actor and actress and the gory special effects.

The characters in the movie were also pretty good, sure they were stereotypical in their own way, but they were also very memorable and unique in their own way. Each character brought something nice to the story.

"Brain Dead" has a good amount of blood and gore, most likely even enough to keep most gorehounds happy. I was satisfied with the amount of mayhem, and the effects were actually nicely made.

If you expect a zombie movie, which I did, you might be a bit disappointed, as it is not actual stereotypical zombies as in many other movies, but it is more like mutated space-zombies, in lack of better words. But despite that fact, then "Brain Dead" was actually a rather enjoyable movie on almost every front.

Lots of blood, gore and laughs, just lacking actual zombies.

Blood and Naked Bodies... Guess That's Alright
gavin694222 March 2011
A sleepy fishing port town is consumed with terror when a small crater crash-lands nearby and releases a slimy parasitic agent that transforms the residents into brain-eating zombies. Cornered in an abandoned fishing lodge, six strangers are forced to band together to stave off the blood-sucking monsters clawing the walls outside.

I get a little worried when you have a horror film from a known director (Kevin Tenney, "Witchboard" and "Night of the Demons") and it takes three years to go from film festival to DVD. I get the impression that it must be pretty bad if companies are not willing to take a chance on a man who is known to have a winning streak in his past. Does my apprehension have basis in reality?

Well, the film is great at what it does, let us say that. Cheesy? Oh, yes. But the gore is amazing, very much in the splatter tradition of Lamberto Bava's "Demons". This film does not take itself seriously, but I think that is its strength, because the low budget does not give it the ability to be too serious. Tenney approached this the right way.

Amy is very, very sexy with a cute face and the seductive hairstyle that lures dirty old men. Her breasts are a bit large for my liking, but I am probably in the minority and I really probably should not complain at all -- what is a horror film without topless women? And there are topless and bottomless women... and the big breasts just keep bouncing (and floating).

One cheesiness that could have been cleaned up was the tattoo on the convict... just not believable at all. No tattoo is that dark. But then, you get lines like, "My phone bill is higher than Whitney Houston", and it all seems okay.

I would feel like I failed in my duty if I neglected to say this film has an obvious connection to "The Blob", with its villain being of a meteor origin. But the connection is weak, and it is neither an homage nor a ripoff.

great entertainment
trashgang19 October 2009
It was a bit of a hard to get, had to buy it in Hong Kong of all places but it was worth buying. Have seen the trailer it already caught me. But sometimes trailers could mislead you showing already the best parts, well, this one have some other beauties to shown beyond the trailer. For example, every girl in the movie has a opportunity to shown their mountain dews. And it isn't gratuitous! It never distract you from the movie and that's already a fine treat. And the storyline is so great, the acting is for an independent excellent. And I thought to recognize Michelle Tomlinson from somewhere. Well, it's from the turkey, The Cellar Door but here she gives a great performance. The special effects are great too, the head blast, the hand through the head, didn't spoil the story by that, it's in the trailer you morons! And don't let us forget the humor throughout the movie. You will have it all, T&A, gore, humor, and suspense. A worth seeing.

Ted Munns Horror Film Reviews - Brain Dead (2007)
HorrorFIlmReviews15 June 2011
I watched Brain Dead late one evening on the Horror Channel, not expecting to much. The film helped kill a few hours and that was about it, it clearly comes under the category of it's so bad its 'good' I use the word 'good' loosely.

Plot:

We see three couples, two prisoners, two women with a weird lesbian undertone and the Reverend Farnsworth and his young disciple 'Candy' who all end up in a cabin together, where they are attacked by Alien Zombies and a Weird black blob.

Hot or Not:

The film is clearly made on a low budget and there is nothing wrong with that, 'if' the film is made correctly. The problem here is that Brain Dead tries too hard at being funny and although on occasions it did bring a smile to my face, it seemed I the majority of the time I was laughing at how bad the film was rather than the scripted jokes. The set throughout the whole film was so obviously fake, even down to the walls within the cabin. This is no Evil Dead although it would like to be. On a positive note there is some good nude scenes for people who like that and the special effects are quite good for the budget of the film, maybe they should have toned down on the money spent on effects in order to improve the set design.

Birds and the Bees:

Loads of breasts and Bums on display here but nothing for the gals here.

Acting:

The acting in this film is very poor, although I have seen worse. Sometimes it comes across deliberate. Joshua Benton as clarence and Sarah Grant Brendecke as Sherry Morgan did OK as leads.

Overall:

I would only watch this film if you really have nothing else to watch or if you are a fan of low budget films as Brain Dead is better than most. However I think they showed too much interest in making it funny rather than scary, there was little balance, this is no Evil Dead!

Better than most recent low budget horror fare but still no masterpiece.
poolandrews25 January 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Brain Dead starts as a small meteorite crashes to Earth from outer space & lands directly on fisherman Bill's (Dennis Michael Tenney) head & lodges inside his brain where a parasitic alien black slime attaches itself & takes control of Bill turning him into a brain eating zombie. Two convicts the mild mannered Clarence (Joshua Benton) & the psychotic Bob (David Crane) can't believe their luck when their prison transport van gets a flat, Bob uses the situation to kill the guard & make his escape into the isolated woods where handcuffed together Clarence & Bob find a seemingly abandoned log cabin. Then two female hikers & a preacher & his assistant turn up seeking shelter, then the cabin comes under attack from various alien controlled zombies...

Produced & directed by Kevin Tenney who has had some degree of success in the low budget horror genre with the likes of Witchboard (1986), Night of the Demons (1988), Witchtrap (1989) & Endangered Species (2002) although he's not exactly a well known name, his latest effort is this rather unsubtle horror gore comedy alien zombie flick which has a certain tacky entertainment value but I am definitely not as impressed as the other IMDb user's who have written comments for it here. I would say Brain Dead steals it's title from the brilliant Peter Jackson horror gore comedy of the same name but lift's it's story straight from The Thing (1982) & The Evil Dead (1982) with it's body controlling alien & it's central concept of various teenage character's trapped in a log cabin in the woods terrorised by possessed (by aliens rather than evil spirits but still possessed all the same) zombies who try to pick them off one-by-one. In this review I have now mention three other horror films, Braindead (1992), The Thing & The Evil Dead & I have to say Brain Dead isn't anywhere near as good as any of them & while there are one or two fun moments I don't think it's that good a film. The script tries to be clever & funny which is fine if you find this moronic playground style humour amusing but I didn't, in fact I found it all rather predictable, stale & the timing just isn't right either. Almost all of the gags & humour fell flat for me, I didn't laugh once during this & the humour is so low brow that it feels like it was written by a five year old. There are big pacing problems too, the first half of the film is really slow going with all these character's meeting up & arguing & trying to be funny, the character's are really obvious stereotypes that are poor & feel like they belong in some cheap TV comedy sketch show. There's a man hating lesbian, a perverted preacher, a smooth wise-cracking hero & a comedy Sheriff. The twist at the end was obviously inspired (or ripped-off) from The Thing & overall while it has a few fun moments I can't get that excited about it.

There's some reasonable gore effects here, I say reasonable because they are played for laughs & bouncing rubber joke shop brains covered in slime lessen the impact. A guy has his head ripped in two & his brain falls out, a guy has his head shot off, a zombie smashes his fist through a woman's face & grabs her brain & she is seen staggering around with a hole in her face, someones arm is blown off, someone is shot in two, there are various decapitations & severed heads too. Quite brightly lit & shot Brain Dead isn't scary & is played for laughs more than suspense. All of the female leads get naked at some point or other whether it's skinny dipping or a needless shower scene Tenney always manages to find a reason. There's an unbelievably tacky shot in which the camera travels up a woman's skirt & a close-up of her vagina is seen & then the black alien slime spurts out of it onto the camera, that about sums up the level of sophistication in Brain Dead & the audience it's aiming for.

Filmed in California the production values are alright but it does look a bit cheap at times, it's well made enough I suppose but there's no particular stand-out feature. The acting is alright, some are worse than other's but they at least try. One of the worst filmmakers working in the horror genre today Jim Wynorski has a small cameo as the Sheriff but thankfully doesn't seem to have contributed anything behind the camera.

Brain Dead is a stupid horror comedy with added cheesy gore effects, I personally didn't find it funny at all but then maybe I just find this lowest common denominator type humour a little beneath my intelligence. It has one or two decent moments but the pacing is poor & the story is just a rip-off of better films.

No objective person wrote those other reviews
This movie is quite bad. You will know this upon watching the first few minutes, its obvious and has all the hallmarks of a stupid, poorly made, low-budget crapfest:

Awful acting, completely insipid, contrived dialogue, poor cinematography, etc.

This movie really sucks and IMDb has got to start getting rid of the idiots who makes these movies then come on here and write fake positive reviews.

The plot is something about a bunch of stupid people with really fake accents find a house and some zombie mutant thing comes after them...eventually, they first have to have the MOST INANE dialogue ever for most of the movie!

Fun for what it is
Heislegend11 June 2009
Let's face it...some movies merely exist as a vehicle to turn your brain off for an hour and a half or so. They are not for thinkers, hipsters, or people who don't know a joke when they see one. That is precisely why movies like Brain Dead get made and sometimes they'll make you happy that they do get made. Unlike a good number of big budget blockbusters who are just as goofy but take themselves way too seriously, a fair amount of movies (especially in the horror genre) plant their tongue firmly in cheek and keep winking at the camera.

There's nothing terribly original here...a bunch of people from different walks of life and about as different as they could possibly be wind up in a cabin in the middle of nowhere under assault by the undead. Yes, you've seen it before...but there's not a ton of fertile ground for new zombie stories. Be my guest and try, but I'm betting a fair number of zombie purists will cry and whine. On the whole this movie looks like it had a bit of a budget but it certainly won't have you checking to see why did the special effects. It kind of looks like a Sci-Fi Channel movie that way...not low budget but certainly watching what it spends.

None of the actors are particularly stand out but they all do their jobs just fine. And, as a man, I have no problem with clearly gratuitous amounts of nudity. Complain if you want, but boobs just belong in horror movies. Period. Now previously I mentioned the special effects...that only goes for the CGI. All of the practical effects and gore are actually done pretty well and usually with hilarious consequences. Bottom line is that if every movie you watch simply MUST have some thought provoking subtext, steer clear of this movie and stay the hell away from me as well. You're far too self serious and need to be kept away from society. If you can, on the other hand, agree to turn your brain off for a bit of time, maybe crack open a beer or two and have a couple laughs this may be worth a look. That's more than I can say for a lot of horror movies being made these days.

Zombies, boobs, gore, and one-liners, did I mention boobs
yeodawg13 November 2011
I gave it a bad rating and turned this movie off before because of the CGI gun fire a personal pet-peeve of mine. But I don't know why because before it got to the shoot-out there were lots of boobies (and bush), gore and one-liners to keep me interested. This is a campy 1950's horror movie crossed with an 80's T&A. no sooner do they introduce a female character then she gets topless int-regal to the story-line of course. The male characters are all jerks but different jerks they are the paint by numbers characters found in the 50's horror. Fat lazy sloppy cops, over the top criminals....and of course Joshua Benton with his snarky one liners. he's playing the bad boy iconoclast who's too cool for school. It was fun to watch him crack wise through the tragedy.

Witty but Uninspired
yaktheripper4 August 2012
I don't hate this movie, but I doubt I'll ever watch it again. It starts off with a boatload of promise but ends limping to the finish line. "Brain Dead" steals the title from one of the greatest gore movies ever, Peter Jackson's "Brain Dead" and then rips off the plot device to "Night of the Creeps" and all is well and good initially. It has witty, clever dialog, it pours a bucket of big breasts and bush on you, and splashes you with sweet, sweet bloody, brain-popping gore. Then the plot falls asleep on you. The main problem is, besides from the mostly poor acting, the pacing falls to pieces in the middle and I found it becoming boring. It quickly becomes straight-to-video swiss cheese plot and by then the third act has shriveled up and can't muster enough of a inspired effort to pull this out of the depths of mediocrity. Still...I recommend this as a one shot, been there done that, filled out my zombie quota for the week, type of movie. I just wouldn't recommend buying it.

Gore, nudity and fun!
mario_c17 May 2009
It's a B-series Zombies' flick which mixes gore with humor, like it uses to be common in the genre.

Some of the jokes are funny and some of the gore scenes too!

In fact the type of gore used is not to shock you but to make you laugh.

It also has some beautiful and nude girls who definitely help to sustain this movie interesting...

I might say it's enjoyable and nice for gore fun but it's not a reference, not even in the genre.

I score it 6/10.

low brow shlock
alistairc_200027 November 2020
This is now on Amazon Prime. It says 2020 but is really this movie. Zombies attack trailer trash is how it is pitched. It is more like, hey there is a good looking woman. Director cue the nude scene. What about the zombies? Cue the nude scene...

About half way through the movie they are there for a tame take on Evil Dead. Good fun but probably the only thing memorable was the brunette who stripped for her naughty scene in a pond.

The Second Best movie with Brain and Dead in it's title.
ElijahCSkuggs10 December 2008
It takes balls to use the name Brain Dead for a horror flick. There are two other horror flicks out there that use Brain and Dead in their title, and they both have their own followings....especially one of them....the one that matters. Does this one live up to it's awesome word combo of Brain and Dead? Yep. It does. Yay!

The story revolves around an asteroid ripping through space to only land in a dude's head. From there the ooze from the asteroid transforms the guy into a brain-feeding, zombie/monster/guy. From that moment it's only goal is to eat brains, brains, brains so it can....you'll see. Eventually the story becomes a trapped and survive type situation, and for me, and thanks to Evil Dead 2, I love that setting.

The film has a good amount of characters that tend to be pretty entertaining as well. Our lead character, who is also our main source of humor, was consistently telling jokes or using smart alec remarks. It kinda got old, but fortunately his acting was good enough to make his persona likable, which made you not really care about the failing funnies. With 4 out of the 5 girls showing boobs and bush, the movie also succeeds in the nudity department. But once you see one girl nude, that's it, they don't shed any more for the rest of the movie. So don't expect anymore nudity later on. And of course we are watching a movie called Brain Dead and expecting some red stuff. Praise the lord because we get a decent amount of gory fun. Head splitting open, shotgun to the face and torso explosions....and even some good ole fashion puke gore.

Brain Dead was a cool horror/comedy that delivered everything that I hoped. Though I do have to say I was hoping for some more nudity later on, because a couple of these girls were stacked. The humor worked enough, the acting was inspired, the gore creative and plentiful and did I mention the nudity? Definitely check it out if you get the chance. Brain Dead lives up to the name, and was a bloody fun flick.

The secret of the ooze, Tmnt eat your heart out
movieman_kev12 June 2012
A pair of felons on there way to lock up, one psychotic, the other merely overtly sarcastic, meet up with a lecherous preacher, the young girl he's pining for, a comely yet accident prone park ranger, and two hikers communing with nature (not necessarily in that order) while holed up in a backwoods cabin while an alien black ooze turns random people into brain-hungry zombies outside.

A pretty decent throwback to the B-grade horror films of the 1980's, it has it's fair share of flaws. But it's fun and provides the essential gore to nude skin ratio that were a staple of great '80's horror films. And while the film isn't nearly as great as the awesome Peter Jackson film of the same name, It scratched that 'bad' film itch something good.

Eye Candy: Christina Tibera gets topless, Tess McVicker shows T&A; and Sarah Brendecke & Michelle Tomlinson both get fully nude

My Grade: B-

Where I saw it: Netflix Instant

Tries too hard for laughs, falls flat
Floated211 December 2022
Quite a strange zombie horror comedy film. The plot is relatively simple and something in which we have seen many times before. Group of strangers end up locked in a cabin in the middle of nowhere while a villain (in this case alien zombies?) are trying to kill them (eat their brains- hence the title).

The acting is subpar. The lead character Clarence tries too hard in being funny, delivering cheesy one liners every so often. Perhaps more so a result of the writing but his delivery is terrible.

The reverend is the typical preacher type. The lead women don't have much sense and the zombies are pretty clueless, with the make up design on them are uninspired.

Some decent over the top gruesome looking kills (many blowing up head shots). Scene by the lake about 12 mins in is one of the highlights.

Otherwise this film is nowhere near as good as a lot of these IMDB reviews are claiming. They seem to be massively over hyping it, for whatever reason.

Fun space borne infection romp.
adrian-15518 August 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching this movie at the Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, Ky. It's a pretty damn good little film. While it's not ground breaking in any way, it's a lot of fun and brings T & A back to horror films where it belongs. Back in the 80's breasts and horror went hand in hand, sadly that's no longer so except for fine films like this one. The biggest problem I think this film will have in finding an audience is the name since there are already at least two other films in the genre that go by the same title. Hopeful I'll be able to pick it up on DVD soon.

Begin Spoiler

By the way, beware that space amoebas hide in the strangest places.

End Spoiler

Cheesy and fun, but too unoriginal
whammy66627 May 2008
It was cool to see a new movie from Kevin Tenney, director of some genre classics like Night of the Demons and Witchboard. I was excited when I saw his name on the credits, when I saw this at Rock and Shock last year. It is a fun cheesy movie with some awesome gore, but the plot and story are an exact copy of Slither and Night of the Creeps. Well, not exact, but close. It has aliens and worms and infected people, and so on. All in all, it is pretty good, but not as good as the director's previous works. In the beginning, as another person said, it has such an awesome gore scene. I hope it comes on DVD eventually. Just funny how there are a couple other movies with the same title haha.

Funny, alien slime mutation gore-fest! for fans of Bad Taste!
Jester22220 October 2008
I saw this at the GoreZone magazine Gore-Fest this weekend- in London (it was the UK premier-) i was looking forward to seeing this film- and although the title is ludicrously unoriginal - (most people will think it's Dead Alive/Brain Dead let's be honest!!) it didn't disappoint.

Packed full of excellent splatter gore and comedic situations- and not taking itself too seriously- A breath of (not so) fresh air - and more than holds it's own in it's genre. Some great comedic acting from the felon reluctantly on the run handcuffed to a dim witted trigger happy psycho- and the eye candy cliché babes in distress also did well with tongue firmly in cheeks and totally self aware of their stereotype! I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Bad Taste, Brain Dead, Undead- and Kevin S. Tenneys previous works 'Night of the Demons' & 'Witchboard'. Enjoy.

Better than average slapstick horror flick
tkell3123 March 2020
Okay first and foremost this movies features perhaps the best set of breasts to.ever grace the silver screen. They are real and they are spectacular. Cristina Tiberia appeared in this one movie and then disappeared from cinema. Thanks to the casting director society did not miss out on the chance to have her natural wonders memorialized for all time. That isnt to downplay the bevy of busty beauties that we're treated too because all the ladies are very attractive.

Other people have outlined the premise, but the strength of the movie is the wide range of characters sticking to form, quality cheesy dialogue, brisk pace, making fun of the genre, and graphic/over the top gore.

Look, if you want a serous horror movie pass on this for sure, but if you are in the mood for a few laughs, and beautiful ladies give it a shot.

Shutting off
kosmasp26 June 2020
If your brain is shut off (dead as some may say), you can just enjoy this for what it is. And while that may sound bad, I don't mean to diminish the movie in any way. Some movies don't pretend to be anything else than what they are. And this is quite fun. You could argue that it could've been better, some may have issues with the violence and/or the nudity.

But do you know what you are watching? While I guess the latter is debatable right now in any movie you watch (woke and cancel culture), we are not anywhere near being outraged by too much blood and violence in a horror movie (unless you are talking to a sensitive or squeamish person of course). A decent effort with some humor added for good measure

Great, cheesy, horror flick that worth watching!
melapoo26 February 2008
I saw this film at Nevermore Film Festival on Feb 24th. It was the film I was looking forward to the most and I must admit that it did not disappoint. It was my favorite of the 9 I saw that weekend.

My favorite things about horror films are the gore and the cheese and this film was full of both! This film had some of the best gore I had seen in a long time. Not best as in most realistic, but best as in most entertaining. One of the best scenes is with in the first 5-10 mins of the movie. It was a great way to start it off! This film def didn't take itself too seriously which made it so much fun to watch. It had some great one liners and some ridiculous situations that kept you laughing through most of the film.

If this film is showing in a festival near you, or if you happen to see it on DVD, do yourself a favor and SEE IT. You will not be disappointed.

It all started with a cosmic occurrence.
nogodnomasters5 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is a comedy horror with some fine gratuitous nudity, but nothing sexual. A meteor with a substance in it strikes a fisherman in the head and consumes his brains, turning him into a brain eating creature. Clarence Singer (Joshua Benton) is the main character in the film. He has almost all the comedic lines, which I did find enjoyable. All the characters end up at a cabin in the woods with no phone service in Missouri.

Guide: F-word. No sex. Nudity (Sarah Grant Brendecke, Michelle Tomlinson , Tess McVicker, Cristina Tiberia )

Entertaining low-grade zombie horror comedy trash
Woodyanders3 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Here we go again: A motley assortment of colorful characters stumble across an abandoned fishing lodge in the middle of nowhere in the woods of Hicksville, USA. The group find themselves in considerable jeopardy from a zombie outbreak caused by a parasitic alien goo. Okay, so the story is far from original, but fortunately director Kevin S. Tenney (who blessed us with "Witchboard" and "Night of the Demons" back in the 80's) and writer Dale Gelineau ably capture both the blithely trashy feeling of pure fun and the infectiously loopy vitality of vintage 80's down'n'dirty low-budget indie fright fare: We've got a constant zippy pace, huge gobs of gloriously excessive over-the-top graphic gore, a wickedly funny sense of deliciously irreverent humor (the dialogue in particular is quite witty and often hilariously profane), lively and exciting zombie attack set pieces, an engaging tongue-in-cheek tone, affectionate nods to such 80's cult faves as "The Evil Dead" and "Return of the Living Dead," funky special effects, and, naturally, a generous sprinkling of tasty gratuitous female nudity. Moreover, the game cast have a field day with the wacky material, with especially praiseworthy contributions from Joshua Benton as likable smartaleck Clarence Singer, Sarah Grant Brendecke as the sassy Sherry Morgan, David Crane as vicious psycho hoodlum Bob Jules, Michelle Tomlinson as scrappy and abrasive lesbian Claudia Bush, Andy Forrest as the smarmy and cowardly Reverend Farnsworth, Cristina Tibera as foxy bimbo Amy Smoots, and Elizabeth Lambert as the ditsy Candy. Noted Grade B flick director Jim Wynorski has a nifty sizable supporting role as a good ol' boy sheriff. The snazzy cinematography by Alex Simon and Patrick McGowan boasts plenty of clever scene transitions. Kudos are also in order for Dennis Michael Tenney's twangy and dynamic score and the gnarly old school practical make-up f/x. A total schlocky hoot.

Great movie! Lots of fun and nudity
texasboyy3 August 2022
I really enjoyed this. Lot of fun and some outstanding nudity you rarely see in horror movies these days. The director had every single actress strip completely naked at one point or another. Very impressive, especially Cristina Tiberia and her perfect breasts. Sadly, this is her only role.

Really enjoyable if slightly flawed
kannibalcorpsegrinder3 February 2017
When a meteorite lands in a small-town, several unrelated residents find themselves forced together in a small, remote cabin in the woods as they are beset by a swarm of zombies raised through a vicious brain-eating parasite and must try to find a way to get to safety.

This one wasn't all that bad and had a lot to really like here. One of the more enjoyable aspects here is the way this one builds the mundane lifestyle out of the small-town residents here who stumble upon each other while waiting around for the zombies to arrive. The interconnecting story lines, from the prisoners escaping and coming upon the cabin, the lost campers and the stranded travelers who all manage to arrive at the cabin which is what leads this one into the hostage situation as well as the later fun once they find themselves confronted by the zombies. The first encounter, when they're confronted by the ranger who gets attacked by the creatures, sets this one off nicely as they continuously get into stellar confrontations with the creature there as well as the battles for control within the cabin as everything crumbles down into the different groups fighting off the zombies. With several creatures coming after them and forcing some rather interesting and fully brutal confrontations as the creatures continually come after the group trapped inside which makes this one quite the appealing and intriguing offering. With the big final brawl taking place with the main zombie left alive as well as the squealing parasite left behind from the earlier attacks together at once, there's some really frantic action delivered here which sets up the thrilling finish in the basement where there are some brutal action and fine brawling to give this some really enjoyable times here, as well as finishing this on a great note. Given all the great action here with the zombies in the final half, this one has the appropriate showcase utilized throughout here for the great zombie make-up and gore throughout here, with the creatures' abilities to actual kill in different fashions than just ripping people to pieces resulting in utterly graphic kills committed here by both the zombies and against them, and since there's plenty of great makeup work featured here it has plenty of great points throughout here. Coupled with the fine nudity and a great helping of comedic one-liners unleashed, there's quite a lot to like here which holds it up over the few flaws to be found here. The biggest issue is the fact that there's just nothing about this one that gives the zombies any kind of motive for being here, given that there's just nothing here about why they're here or what they're purpose is. It's attempted in the finale, but it's just not all that well handled and is even tossed aside when it's proved that there's something else going on as it just ignores that potential explanation and is never even brought up here. That does make their behavior somewhat questionable in being able to run around and formulate plans instead of just mindlessly swarming others, and while it still retains the headshot there's little else here about their behavior that leaves this as commonplace. The only other flaw is the slow beginning to get this one going, with the zombies not arriving until around the halfway point of the first half just being the group arriving in their own story lines, letting this one take a while to get to the good stuff. These here are all that lets this one down.

Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and Full Nudity.
