The Lickerish Quartet (1970)
well filmed and edited soft-erotic flick
The follow up of Camilla 2000, remember, the flick with the moaning girls and the sex scene's who were a bit lame. If we could talk about sex scene's to be honest, but the score made it all better. So with the voluptuous main lead, Silvana Venturelli, from Carmilla the director Radley Metzger went on to this project made in full porn bloom.
Starts off with a bunch of people watching an erotic picture. The erotic flick goes further then Camilla ever did. Silvana goes full frontal and this time the camera shows the girls giving head even as nothing is shown it do offer some soft-erotic parts. We move over to some stunts being done on motorcycles, a bit too long but there the man recognises the girl on the bike as the girl from the erotic flick. He invites her back to his castle, guess you all know what is coming. In the castle the director goes as far as possible with close-ups of Silvana's private parts.
Much better story with the magic involved, excellent filmed. A bit of mystery going on with the films itself which give this flick an uplift. Not bad at all, Metzger's best effort.

Camille 2000 (1969)
everybody making love with everybody
I saw this flick due being released on the Arrow label. i do know that it was made i the roaring sixties, a time of drugs and free sex. And let this be a flick about forbidden romance.
They way it was shot I was rather surprised that some dare to call it soft erotic. Sure, there's a lot of making love going on but it's so tame for the time being shot. The girls are really lovely and all are voluptuous and that's what this all about, all showing their juggs on some LSD music. Let me say that the score is excellent but the erotic, well, for example, in the first love scene you can easily spot on the Blu ray release that the girl was wearing flesh coloured knickers not to reveal a thing. No pubic hair is ever shown. On the men site they show almost everything not intended but you know, you can't hide their testicles.
It's a classic for so many people and I can agree on many ways, the way the love scene's are shot with mirrors used that all looks fine but to say it's erotic, well, there are other flicks made back then showing more then Carmilla did. Just look at the orgy going on, a bit of master and slave but low on nudity. Go figure out that not one year later Mona was released, the first explicit flick without credits to start the golden age of porn.
A perfect example of the free sex era.

San Andreas (2015)
Normally when 3D is available I go watching it in 3D but sadly I wasn't able to see it that way so I saw it in the normal version and I have mixed emotions at the end.
For me the story wasn't that great after all and the effects didn't convince me all the way;
The story is so weird. Ray (Dwayne Johnson) working for the fire brigade has for me forgotten what the fire brigade is all about, protect and serve. the only thing he does is protecting his family. You can see hundreds of people running and getting stuck in buildings but the only thing he wants to do is to protect and rescue his ex-wife and finding his daughter. Sadly you can see it coming miles away that the new lover of his ex is a going to have a hard time during the earthquake.
The effects without people are superb but once the main lead is in the CGI you can easily spot they were in effects or green keys. But the earthquake at LA and San Fran are really breathtaking. Maybe they exaggerated with the boats running against the tsunami but that's so typical with this kind of family flicks.

American Sniper (2014)
stop bragging about racism and NRA, this is it!
It took me a while before I watched this because it's all about the 2nd amendment people said and the director being Clint Eastwood it should be a promo for the NRA. For me it never was pro guns 'cause face it what happened at the end, that isn't a promo for NRA.
Nevertheless, what an excellent flick this was, it's all so realistic and it was based on an actual case. I was in it from the first moment just until the end and it never let me down on part of watching it. And clocking in over 2 hours that means a thing.
Due being based on real events for me no racism is found, face it, it all happened, and no pro NRA was seen.
Still, it isn't going to be for the easy offended because once the sniper goes out to kill, he's faced with a kid carrying a grenade.
But I must also say that the directing from Clint was superb and the acting of Bradley Cooper was Oscar worthy.
For me an instant classic.

one of the better superhero flicks I've seen so far
It's been a while since I watched a flick about superhero's. The reason is simple, mostly those flicks clock in over 2 hours and do have a lot of boring moments. Didn't know what to expect from Ant-Man but I gave it a try due Michael Douglas being in it and Corey Stoll who I knew from the stunning series The Strain. But was I surprised when it was over, this was excellent.
There wasn't any part that bored me and the story itself was rather good. Even when the ants came in I thought this is going to suck real hard well it was again excellent. Towards the end there's a fight between good and evil and even that looked great. But what did offer this flick for me that made it great was a bit of humour here and there and of course the excellent performances highlighted by Douglas.
On part of the effects it was one of the best I've seen in a superhero flick. If they only all were made this way.

great flick made for adults??
Not bad at all coming out of the Disney studio's. Everybody knows that this isn't my favorite studio but I gave it a try due the 3D experience and I must say that it wasn't really a movie for the kids.
It all starts rather childish with the elves and all kind of wood creatures and once loves come in it could become a typical sugared love story so true to Disney but luckily it didn't. Once the betrayal comes in this flick turns into a dark fairytale.
Angelina Jolie is excellent here as are the special effects used to create good and evil. On part of the 3D it all looked stunning and the movie didn't bore me one minute. But I must admit that it isn't made for kids under ten, therefor the story is a little bit too dark.

A masterpiece that's all I can say. Go figure out how they did all the effects back then. Editing wasn't what we see nowadays and CGI wasn't done of course so it had to be done all in-camera or layer on layer for special effects.
German expressionism on it's best. Finally since a few years full uncut after finding the reel in Buenos Aires in really bad conditions. It shows in the full uncut but it doesn't bother. just seen it finally on Blu Ray it's worth picking up. Not only for the restoration but for the flick itself of course. Just see the settings how wonderful they were. What even surprised me was that in the beginning one dancer is showing her breasts and that for 1927! Even the main lead Brigitte Helm transformed into the robot goes dirty dancing. One of the last silent movies made, it was in the same year that The Jazz Singer came out with sound.
Even clocking in way over 2 hours not one minute did it bore me. Cult classic that did stand the time and is still actual.

Enter the Void (2009)
another masterpiece from Gaspar Noé
Enter The Void was for me another revelation coming out of the hand of Gaspar Noé. After seen the shocking Irreversible (2002) I thought that would be his masterpiece but he did it again. And again this isn't going to be a flick to watch for people who are easily offended or doesn't understand arty flicks.
It never becomes brutal as Irreversible did in the rape scene and with the fire extinguisher but the shocking lays in the fact that it contains an abortion scene and it's not for the squeamish. Paz de la Huerta does lay wide spread and fully naked while they are entering her vagina to destroy the foetus. All filmed in full glory. And Paz goes naked a lot or is doing a strip act, even that can be shocking for some. But not only that, towards the end we enter a love hotel and that's just on the edge of a porn flick. Only the cum is excluded.
If you can see through all that then you will open your mouth towards editing and the use of bright colors, and the way things were shot were so well done. The first minutes for example it's all done in POV of the drug addict and we do get into his trip too. And have a look how the car accident was done, and the daughter shouting it out.
There's not much of explanation of the story itself, you just watch and try to get it. A weird flick but a classic indeed. Watched the full uncut.

Social media goes berserk
This is a special one to review because if you aren't into social media like I am you won't like it because the only thing you see is a macbook screen, in full. What the 5 friends do is chatting via skype and facebook. Nothing goes wrong until...
This flick starts with the suicide of one of their friends and while they are chatting suddenly a stranger adds himself into the conversation going on and slowly it turns into a nightmare. Clever made because my 13 year old daughter loved it even as it do offer some scary moments. Because it's her world and is contacting friends the way you see throughout this flick.
A bit of paranormal activity, it all starts slowly and it do creeps into a ghostly story, no gore whatsoever but if you are scared easily it surely will deliver goosebumps.

the CGI and keys teared this flick to the ground
The Host (2006) I liked a lot but what I just saw wasn't my thing at all. It all looked promising and did remind me a little bit of The Cassandra Crossing (1976) somehow.
The story I could dig but the effects used were so cheap looking that I lost my interest in the whole movie after 45 minutes, to be honest, once after the frozen arm part. Once I did get lost of the movie due the CGI I wondered why it had to clock in at 2 hours. Some parts of the train were so weird and for me even didn't work. It's sad because I think i must take the blame seeing the score this flick gets and even in my native country this flick was the film of the year, a must see.
I can't understand why CGI effects used in The Host looked stunning and here you could easily spot the CGI or even the blue or green keys used inside the train. This one won't pierce into my mind.
