must see in 3D, but typical a paranormal flick
The most controversial franchise ever I guess because it did started a new era, the era of the found footage flicks but on the other hand it was one of the most disliked horrors by the geeks.
Let me say that I always enjoyed it this franchise, I was never scared but have seen it with teens they were so some way they succeeded in their purpose. Guess it was never meant to scare the old fans of the genre.
This one came out in 3D and let me tell you that it delivers more in 3D. The ghostly appearances especially in the beginning really works in 3D and it even pops out of your screen as did the end scene.
It was told that this is the last and would explain everything. For me it only explained the midwife coven. But it do has an open ending so if they want within a few years they can start all over.

indeed the bloodiest Pakistanese flick
For once the advert on the sleeve of the DVD is correct, the bloodiest flick coming out of Pakistan. I enjoyed it from the beginning until the end. Even as it is spoken in Pakistanese and here and there some English it was watchable.
The story of course we have seen a thousand times. 5 friends want to go to a concert without the agreement of their parents but they never arrive at the concert. They arrive in zombieland and not only that, a creepy killer is also on the lose.
I can't say anything negative about Zibahkhana which in fact means 'slaughterhouse'. The acting was rather good, editing was okay. naturally the director looked to the classic horrors to know what to do. It worked out fine. Maybe it's a bit funny to see the deranged killer walking in a burkha. But why you kept looking is the use of some nasty gory shots. It's strange to see for a conservative country that such kind of flick could be made. Guess it was banned over there.
It do has a proper release nowadays all over Europe with subtitles in a few languages. A bit of a no- brainer but recommended for the horror buffs and even the gorehounds.

Patriots Day (2016)
Flick about the bombing at the Boston marathon so you know that this is going to be hard to watch because be honest, innocent people died there. The acting was sublime, sadly I can't say of all the things shown really happened that way because the pursuit between the cops and the victims and all the bombs going off in the streets, I can't say if that's true but it do gives this flick a special feeling about the people in Boston all getting stronger out of the attack and working together to hunt down the bombers.
All acting is above mediocre, a thing you really need in this kind of flicks. Another nice surprise in a year two real events were transformed in a flick and both are really good (Sully). If you only have seen the bombs going off and do wonder what happened afterwards go pick this one up.

Clint did it again
Don't ask me why but flicks with Tom Hanks aren't seen on my part of view. I don't know why, is it his way of talking I just can't tell so let that be the reason why it took me so long to watch it. Flying to New York with my family lately it all came back to me that a plane ditched on the Hudson and going back to this flick I totally forgotten that Clint Eastwood directed this flick. And he never let me down. Not as an actor and surely not as a director.
Due this being a flick about a real event happened there's nothing bad after all in this flick. It's just sitting halfway throughout this flick that you could follow the disaster itself. And it took me by my throat about all those theoretic people trying to nail the captain and his co-pilot due loosing the plane in the water. Can't say more then that our I would be spoiling. A must see with good effects, a excellent storyline and the way it's told makes it all exciting, yes, Clint did it again.

Wonder Woman (2017)
once she left the island it's downhill with the woman
Was I looking forward to see this because as a kid I grew up with Wonder Woman. And watching it in 3D I thought this really was going to be good. But at the end I was left with a bitter feeling. The 3D wasn't special. The story was a bit weird and it was way too long. It reminded me a lot of Batman vs Superman (2016). That flick was also way too long and did had a rare story.
I enjoyed Wonder Woman when the story was told were she grew up. Guess it took the first 20 minutes but suddenly a man comes ashore and he's the first man they ever saw but not only that and from there it's downhill, he brings war with him.
So off goes Wonder Woman to help the soldier in WWI. Really? The effects were good but that doesn't make a flick especially with superheroes. And the fact that love also takes a whole bite throughout Wonder Woman. No, for me this was a disappointment. A bit like Suicide Squad (2016), You've seen the trailers and it all looks stunning until you sit back and watch the movie. The fact that Lynda Carter (the real Wonder Woman) didn't had a cameo made me only eager to see the 1975 series again.

ideal for a relaxing evening full of stupid jokes and situations and action
When my teen daughter said they wanted to go to Baywatch but needed a drive I was damned to go with them because I just have seen a few flicks last week in theaters but hey, as a good dad I went with them. Was it a good idea?
I knew that Zac Efron was in it and the seats being taken by teen girls I knew they all were waiting for him. But having a WWF and WWE past I also knew that the rock was in it. And I do know that he had a lot to say about Baywatch that it was going to be a good ride.
I laughed a few times and I enjoyed the story and the effects used. It's not just a teen flick. It has a lot of one-liners referring to other flicks or to the past of Zac Efron. The humour used was okay and it even had a lot of stupid situations especially with Ronnie Greenbaum (Jon Bass). The acting was above mediocre. I never had a feeling of , let's stop it even the cameo by The Hoff were okay. At the end you will have a few seconds back to memory lane with Pamela Anderson too.
Please be seated as the movie ends because throughout the end credits there are bloopers and they are really good. So at the end of the day this flick was a nice surprise. A bit of action, showing off of Dwayne Johnson with his body. a lot of laughing with baywatch itself and stupid situations like you see in Dump And Dumper and Hot Shots.
If you want to enjoy your evening with a no-brainer then this is definitely your pick up. Loved it.

The Devil's Candy (2015)
unsettling and unpleasant gem
I noticed this flick traveling the world around on conventions and festivals and winning prices. But I never came across this flick so I had to see it and finally I did. I can understand that it won prices, for me this was indeed candy, to be honest it's a gem.
Even as there's no gore or nasty moments it still gives you an unpleasant feeling. Due the way it was edited, the use of the camera, the soundtrack and the use of heavy metal, all of that makes it worth seeing. And did I mention the acting? All are above mediocre. Is there something bad too, for me it there isn't a thing but I can get it that some will turn it off due the way it was hot or due the atmosphere built. It's not your average horror but if you are open for a anti-Hollywood way of horror without many effects but purely based on the disturbing stuff then this is a must see. Underground geeks will overt, I did...

I was left with a hunger
So it went, the movie that people ran out of the screenings. people given vomit bags at the entry, the stakes were high for this Belgium France co-op. So for me it was a go to see what it was all about because I do remember A Serbian Film (2010) which had the same commotion and it was indeed a hell of a movie. With Raw I was left with a hunger.
It was told that it was going to be in your face and in some points it did but after 20 minutes I was already in panic. Where's the horror, where's the gore? And after 24 minutes the first horror comes in and from then the toilet scene did remind me of all those Asian horrors with the long-haired girls and stuff coming out of their mouth. But hey, I am a bit negative I guess. It's not all that bad, the effects are stunning but to say that it is all that gory as being told. On that part, the horror, the cannibalism and the gore it's a letdown. People could get offended by some parts but overall it's a bit too low on the red stuff.
Is it still worth seeing. Oh yes, because it really is above mediocre but for gorehounds this isn't going to be their stuff. It's a bit like Eat (2014). It delivers for some. To be honest, i like but the overrated fuss about it teared this a few point downward on the rating.

Get Out (2017)
slowly everything explains itself but be patient...
have seen this much acclaimed flick I still don't know what to think about it. It clocks in over 90 minutes and it's all about situations and talking and that should be boring for a horror but somehow I kept watching to see what it's all about and I agree, halfway you get it. It's all clear what this is about and the opening sequence do explains itself throughout the flick.
And the opening sequence is so really well done, even as it doesn't gave any blood still it gives you the creeps. The sound and the prowler, it all works.
But it really asks a lot of the viewer to sit throughout this flick. It has awkward moments and you really do get into characterization that you want to know how this flick will ends. i can't spoil but it's really well written because one moment I couldn't see coming concerning the daughter.
Is it worth seeing, well, if you want to see a slasher or a nasty flick forget it. It's pure survival midst a strange family. the story did remind me of Faceless (1987) somehow. Only for horror buffs who dig a lot of conversation and can wait until the last reel to see the bloody stuff.

We Are Monsters (2015)
the gruesome revenge makes it worth seeing
Okay, this isn't going to be a gem but for me it did still offer some nasty moments. The story is rather simple, girl being kidnapped and raped, she escapes somehow and is out for revenge. I was surprised that the rating was so low.
If you want to see a typical Hollywood blockbuster forget it because it shows that it was a low budget flick. It take a while before things go wrong and it's only once the girl is out for revenge that it becomes a brutal flick and people could get offended by some torturing done by her. Clocking in under 90 minutes makes it worth the trip to see it. As said before, there are moments that will make you grab the remote but the effects are really well done which makes it a delight for the geeks of nasty brutal revenge flicks.
