first second screen flick and it do works perfect
I had seen App without the app you had to install, yes, this is an interactive flick. You have to install the app available in the stores for free to have a second-screen movie, the first one ever. I never tried to see it with the app because a lot of viewers did say on forums that the second screening wasn't working, guess why, the downloaded the movie. At a convention I found the Blu Ray and thought to give a try with the installed app.
And yes, it do work but be sure to turn off your sound and micro on and do pump up the volume of your surround, because the app do work on sound.
Is it worth seeing with the app, does it add something special towards the story. Towards the story it do add extra text or messages on your device. Here and there you will see another POV or you can see what is happening off-screen so yes it do works flawless.
And luckily enough the story isn't that bad at all. I can't say that it is really a horror, but I watched it with my 13 year old daughter and she jumped here and there throughout the flick. It offers suspense it clocks in at 73 minutes which is perfect for a story like this, nowhere I had a boring moment.
App is ideal for teenagers with their social media world.

instant classic that did stand the time
What a perfect example how to make a flick without effects. What you see is all real so forget the 2009 remake and pick this one up even as it is 40 years old.
This is an instant classic with excellent performances and even a bit of joking in the beginning with the Japanese people. I remember seen it with my dad back in the days when I was a teenager and nowadays that almost everything is available I ordered it and didn't regret it after all. What starts out as a hijack of a metroline in NY slowly turns into a cat and mouse game. The story is so strong that it never bored me at all. Even as I still remember what did happen you just sit through this action thriller and the ride is over before you know it. earlier I told that there were no effects and before people will say hey, there are, well, speeding up the reel isn't an effect for me, what you see happening above ground and in the metrolines is actually filmed in NY.
No shaky camera's or over the top shots, straight in your face as it should be done. Perfect, no go take the ride.

The Concorde... Airport '79 (1979)
a real disaster
This is a real disaster. I mean, the whole flick is boring and the effects with the Concorde are ridiculous. There isn't that much that I can say except if you are going to watch it be prepared to have a big laugh.
And still people are loving this flick. The effects done with the drone are stupid , it's being keyed and you just can see that it was a key. The Concorde looping on mach 2 or doing other stunts is just laughable.
And if you think the first disaster was it be prepared for the second crash. Trying to land in the snow, really...
If you do like the Concordde then it's worth seeing for watching take-off and shots made in the air.

Airport '77 (1977)
not that many action to catch
While the first two entries did deliver suspense this one here is a bit of a failure. It takes a while before we actually see the plain getting in trouble and once it does it's all about the rescue.
Why it didn't work? They did try to add characterisation to the flick which takes almost 50 minutes. Once the plane is hijacked you think that the suspense will go in but even that didn't work out. the suspense lays in the fact that the plane is flying under the radar and is actually flying just above the see, but due a lot of clouds the pilot isn't aware that the plane is going to ditch.
The effect used for the ditching looked a bit funny, really, the tail of the plane entering the water and still it can fly again in the air? Once going under water it's again all about the characters, why George Kennedy is in this flick is another question. He's maybe 5 minutes in it. Also funny to see Christopher Lee here in this flick. Why it take place at the Bermuda Triangle is another dilemma, naturally it was a hot item at the end of the seventies
Overall a bit low on everything to be honest, but of course you have to see it if you are into the franchise.

Airport 1975 (1974)
better than the first one
Grown up in full slasher era and the disaster flicks this is one I still remember. And after seen it again (40 years later) I liked it even more then the first entry into this franchise.
Karen Black (Nancy Pryor) do takes the lead here as an air hostess trying to rescue a 747. Again, but less here, as in the original Airport it's a big commercial for Boeing. But they don't say it that much as in the first one. Nevertheless, it's still worth picking up even as many doesn't like this flick because what we do see can't happen. It didn't bother me at all, it's funny to see Erik Estrada (Julio) coming from CHIPS and Linda Blair (Janice Abbott) in a small part. Charlton Heston (Alan Murdock) is the hero after all. And George Kennedy returns as Joe Patroni the man with technical advice.
But not only the flick itself is worth seeing after all those years, again, the way they do fly back then. The commander smoking cigars in full air. Turnable chairs in first class, free booze even if you are drunk.
The effects are a bit outdated, just see the impact with the small airplane as a POV from the cockpit. That doesn't work at all but hey, it's a flick from the seventies, full with coming stars and well known faces from that era.

Black Sea (2014)
Creepy sub flick
If you think that this is going to be an easy movie then you are wrong because it moves slowly into a creepy claustrophobic flick. It all takes place at a sub but once the crew is feeling the tension between each other and the hell is breaking lose you will watch it in patience to see how it will end.
It's not your typical Hollywood blockbuster, it has more to offer then a story. It's strange that some people and even magazines file it under horror, maybe due the effects used and the eerie feeling on board the sub, still it kept me watching in full bloom.
No happy ending at all, excellent performances and filmed entirely on a real sub one to go watch indeed.

Better then most spoofs but still....
I have seen so many spoofs made from popular horrors and most of them were crap. So I picked up this one for two reasons, the muscle cars and the reference to Fast and Furious 6 (2013). I liked it on some parts but of course it still stays in the bad area.
What I was surprised of was that it only copied the story of the Fast 6 and on the other hand the actors all looked like the real ones. On part of the cars it wasn't that bad at all, the Challenger, well, some won't like the colour but what a car it is. The comedy added goes from a stupid fart to slapstick situations. And yes, here and there I did laugh.
So if you want to see hot chicks and cars, then this is your stuff, if you think you gonna die laughing then you are wrong but better then most spoofs.

bad 3D and the dawn of the story of the apes
I've watched it in 3D and on that part it disappointed me, the 3d isn't stunning at all but luckily the effects were stunning. The story itself isn't that strong either.
After the rise of the apes which looked fine I was looking forward to see this flick and yes, Ceasar is back but before the things go awry you have to sit almost an hour through a lot of talking and a story that isn't convincing. It's when one of the apes is going against Ceasar that this flick starts moving but by then it's a bit too late. Just a simple story but as I said the effects do make this flick. Not what I expected from the dawn...

typical disaster flick but it still works
I still remember those disaster flicks from the seventies with buildings, boats and airplanes. Now that they are all available on DVD or Blu Ray it's time to pick up those you still remember seen with your parents back then. At a convention I found the Airplane box knowing that they go from good to a, no pun intended, disaster I started this classic.
At the end I was surprised that the disaster itself only took maybe 30 minutes of this flick but don't worry. I kept watching it and before I knew it it was over and done. It wasn't that bad at all, the way they edited conversations was way before their time. And it works. On the other hand the way the pilots and stewardesses are presented gave me a smile too. Here they all are cheating and are doing it when they have night stops with each other. And the pilots are smoking when attending flying. Go figure that one out. And they do smoke a lot in the plane and the movie itself. There's also a bit of comedy to catch here and there even as it is all about the bomb and the disaster.
The effects used are rather good for the time being, even as you can spot the fake airplane in the air it didn't bother me at all, just have a look at the last entry with the Concorde, the effects used their are laughable.
A lot of blah blah indeed but still even as you know how this is going to end it's worth seeing.

All Cheerleaders Die (2013)
modern version of The Craft
Took me a while before I watched this one because people compared it with the teenage witch classic The Craft (1996) and somehow it does but it is a worth looking even if you aren't a teenager.
All Cheerleaders Die takes it time before it all really starts but once it starts it does deliver the horror, it's low profile, I admit but you will keep watching it until the end. Evene as it is full of clichés, you know, the nerdie type who will solve the problem, the sexy chicks being killed. But once killed it all takes a strange turn.
The ending is open as hell and normally it would deliver a second entry. I'm curious if it ever will come that far but if you want a no-brainer then pick this up, no gore at all but here and there it is showing us the red stuff.
