When a meteorite lands in a small-town, several unrelated residents find themselves forced together in a small, remote cabin in the woods as they are beset by a swarm of zombies raised through a vicious brain-eating parasite and must try to find a way to get to safety.
This one wasn't all that bad and had a lot to really like here. One of the more enjoyable aspects here is the way this one builds the mundane lifestyle out of the small-town residents here who stumble upon each other while waiting around for the zombies to arrive. The interconnecting story lines, from the prisoners escaping and coming upon the cabin, the lost campers and the stranded travelers who all manage to arrive at the cabin which is what leads this one into the hostage situation as well as the later fun once they find themselves confronted by the zombies. The first encounter, when they're confronted by the ranger who gets attacked by the creatures, sets this one off nicely as they continuously get into stellar confrontations with the creature there as well as the battles for control within the cabin as everything crumbles down into the different groups fighting off the zombies. With several creatures coming after them and forcing some rather interesting and fully brutal confrontations as the creatures continually come after the group trapped inside which makes this one quite the appealing and intriguing offering. With the big final brawl taking place with the main zombie left alive as well as the squealing parasite left behind from the earlier attacks together at once, there's some really frantic action delivered here which sets up the thrilling finish in the basement where there are some brutal action and fine brawling to give this some really enjoyable times here, as well as finishing this on a great note. Given all the great action here with the zombies in the final half, this one has the appropriate showcase utilized throughout here for the great zombie make-up and gore throughout here, with the creatures' abilities to actual kill in different fashions than just ripping people to pieces resulting in utterly graphic kills committed here by both the zombies and against them, and since there's plenty of great makeup work featured here it has plenty of great points throughout here. Coupled with the fine nudity and a great helping of comedic one-liners unleashed, there's quite a lot to like here which holds it up over the few flaws to be found here. The biggest issue is the fact that there's just nothing about this one that gives the zombies any kind of motive for being here, given that there's just nothing here about why they're here or what they're purpose is. It's attempted in the finale, but it's just not all that well handled and is even tossed aside when it's proved that there's something else going on as it just ignores that potential explanation and is never even brought up here. That does make their behavior somewhat questionable in being able to run around and formulate plans instead of just mindlessly swarming others, and while it still retains the headshot there's little else here about their behavior that leaves this as commonplace. The only other flaw is the slow beginning to get this one going, with the zombies not arriving until around the halfway point of the first half just being the group arriving in their own story lines, letting this one take a while to get to the good stuff. These here are all that lets this one down.
