You know that you're in trouble when the protagonist of your film must be reminded in the very first scene to remember his medication. (Cue the close-up of prescription bottle changing hands.) If only I had been reminded to take my medication before watching Psychic Experiment, maybe I would have been in the proper state of mind to follow it. Describing the plot of this newest film from Texas indie filmmaker Mel Closet Space House is a bit daunting. There are so many characters and story threads wandering around the wildly ambitious, yet convoluted, screenplay that it would take multiple viewings to sort out all the bizarre goings-on. Even with the meds, my prescription simply isn't strong enough to watch this epic horror/sci/fi mash-up a second time.
This is what I can tell you for certain: Dr.

Exclusive Interview: Actress Adrienne King Talks Psychic Experiment, Her Return to Acting, and More!
Today, December 6th, Lionsgate unleashes writer/director Mel House's Psychic Experiment on DVD shelves everywhere (the film is also currently available on VOD platforms). It features an all-star cast including Katie Featherston, Debbie Rochon, Reggie Bannister, Glenn Morshower, Kathy Lamkin and Shannon Lark as well as the subject of this interview, Friday the 13th's original final girl herself- Adrienne King.
Psychic Experiment is centered around an idyllic, small, self-sufficient community which seems like the perfect neighborhood on the surface. After all, everything you could possibly need is within walking distance. But eventually the pastoral exterior conceals a dark past and an even darker secret, and as a group of individuals - each with their own ties and agendas with the town and each other - converge on the enclave, strange things begin to happen. Very strange things. Strange enough to test - and then break - the very fabric of reality itself.

You’ve opened all the presents and recovered from all the turkey and/or eggnog you’ve consumed…but Christmas isn’t over, thanks to prolific genre author Joe R. Lansdale (pictured). He’s executive-producing a feature film based on his upcoming tale Christmas With the Dead.
The Christmas screen version, currently in preproduction, will shoot in June in Lansdale’s home town of Nacogdoches, Texas, with the writer and his collaborators employing students and equipment from the Stephen F. Austin University, where he’s a writer-in-residence. “I’m excited about it moving forward and very fortunate to have some fine people at the helm,” Lansdale says. “I’m looking forward to begin filming this summer.”
The synopsis is as follows: “It was a foolish thing to do, and Calvin had not bothered with it the past two years, not since the death of his wife and child. But this year he decided,...

Writer/producer Mel House sent along a new poster and two exclusive photos from his nightmarish new feature Imago; you can see them below. The occasion is the announcement that his Upstart Filmworks will debut the Imago trailer at the Texas Blood Bath Film Festival in November.
“Our 2007 feature Closet Space is screening as part of the festival,” House tells us, “and we’ll be unveiling a new Walking Distance clip as well as the Imago trailer right before that. So for all those Texas folk who keep clamoring to see our multidimensional tentacle extravaganza…this may be your only chance this year, as we have no domestic release lined up yet. And you’ll get a taste of our next couple of features, which hopefully will show our future trajectory.

Fango got ahold of the first scene shot from Imago, the independent horror feature currently lensing in Texas for writer/director Christopher Warren and writer/producer Mel House. Check out the pic, which depicts actress Natali Jones getting a bloody hand, below.
Imago, which we last reported on here, also stars A Nightmare On Elm Street 4 and 5’s Lisa Wilcox, Sweatshop’s Danielle Jones, Closet Space’s Melanie Donihoo, The Quick And The Undead’s Parrish Randall and Fangoria Radio’s Debbie Rochon, with FX by Marcus Koch’s Oddtopsy FX. It centers on a young woman who, while investigating her brother’s disappearance, discovers a portal to a parallel dimension within his apartment that leads her life to become a Lovecraftian nightmare. You can find out more at the movie’s MySpace page and Facebook page, the latter of which just posted the first behind-the-scenes shot.

We’ve been looking forward to Walking Distance, Mel House’s follow-up to the ambitious indie film Closet Space (review), since we first heard rumblings about how good the script was. So we’ve kept Mr. House very close to us as the film was being made, and now you get to benefit from our diligence!
We were just provided with four exclusive stills and, most importantly, the “Black” trailer for Walking Distance, which you can see below! House explains the focus of this trailer; ”the Black Walking Distance trailer mainly lays out the "espionage and intrigue" side of the story.” he told us, ”You've got Joseph Webber (Reggie Bannister) - a recently paroled felon who is still very "sick", Louise Strack (Adrienne King) - the very influential head of an experimental facility located in the center of the community, and Cadence Hamilton (Danielle Jones) - who disappeared under mysterious circumstances some time ago.

We just received a heads-up from Closet Space (review) director Mel House that the trailer for his latest mindbender, Walking Distance, is very close to being upon us. He’s currently shooting for a debut sometime near Thanksgiving, though the outlet has not been determined yet (I vote for Dread Central; don’t you?)
Along with the update, he shot us a stack of new behind-the-scenes stills from the shoot that was going on while we were cooling our heels at Fear Fest two weekends ago, a scene refered to simply as “The Doll Scene”. Freaky.
But wait, there’s more! Scroll down a bit more and you’ll find two videos done by the sickos at Zombie Friends for the film, as well; one is a chat with star Reggie Bannister on his role, the other are the man’s thoughts on working with director Mel House. Enjoy!

Indie director Mel House dropped us a line yesterday with new pics from and an update on his Closet Space (review) follow-up, Walking Distance.
Filming wrapped on July 20th, and now House and the crew from Oddtopsy FX are working on ”a ton of really whacked-out FX stuff for 2nd unit” House told us. ”We should be done with that soon, at which point I can really jump headlong into the editing process and start getting shots to our digital FX team - who really have their work cut out for them as well. Fortunately, these guys have worked with the likes of Robert Rodriguez and Wolfgang Petersen, so I think we're in good hands on that front.”
Needless to say, House has upped the ante on his second directorial effort, working with people who have been among the best in the business. The cast includes Adrienne King (Friday the 13th), Reggie Bannister,...
