Norm Crosby, a comedian known as the “Master of Malaprop,” has died. The actor-writer, also known for appearing in a number of film titles, including Grown Ups 2, Cougar Club and Alright Already, was 93.
Crosby died of heart failure at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, The Hollywood Reporter learned.
The Master of Malaprop was born on September 15, 1927 in Boston. He kicked off his career in the 1950s on the standup scene. Coming up as a comedian, Crosby soon made malaprop, the intentional mistaken use of a similar sounding word for comedy, as his signature move.
From his various appearances on the stand-up scene, Crosby expanded the reach of his career, landing spots on notable talk shows throughout the 60s.
He first came on to the television scene by flaunting his comedy style on The Garry Moore Show, where he would make multiple appearances. Throughout the decade,...

I can say without hesitation that Premature is the best movie about ejaculation-triggered time travel that I have ever seen. Sure, that compliment doesn’t really mean much, but you have to admire a flick that takes that ridiculous, gross set-up and really runs with it – all the while building an endearing cast of characters and handing each of them consistently raucous, over-the-top material. To put it another way, Premature is far, far better than a film mashing together Groundhog Day and American Pie has any right to be, and I commend it for that.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Dan Beers, making his feature directorial and screenwriting debut, for looking past the immature surface of Premature to find the belly laughs and ample heart hiding just underneath. Everyone remembers what a rough time high school was, and Beers captures that remarkably well, from the useless school nurses...

We Love Soaps TV: You grew up in New York City, right?
Joan Van Ark: Yes! As an actress, the New York City part of me, and the more rural Boulder part of me, where we moved when I was seven, has served me and the characters I played well throughout my career.
We Love Soaps TV: Did you always want to be an actress?...

Cougar Hunting, yet another sexy comedy about a bunch of guys in their 20s and their adventures with women of an older but sexually provocative persuasion, is coming to DVD from Screen Media on Aug. 2 for a list price of $24.98.
The three young men—played by Matt Prokop, Jareb Dauplaise and Randy Wayne—head out to Aspen to jump on the cougar cruising train, encountering such lovely ladies who apparently fit the description as Vanessa Angel (Spies Like Us) and Lara Flynn Boyle (TV’s The Practice), as well as the notably younger Jillian Murray (Wild Things: Foursome).
When we reviewed the movie Cougars, Inc. last month, we opined that “Cougars” were fast becoming a stale topic, having been a hot subject for quickie comedies and DVD Premieres a couple of years back. (For examples, check out Cougar Club, Cougars 101 and Cougar School.) We were going to amend our theory...

Lionsgate will release the sexy comedy Cougars, Inc. starring Jim Belushi (The Ghost Writer), Denise Richards (Deep in the Valley), Kathryn Morris (TV’s Cold Case) and Sarah Hyland (TV’s Modern Family) on Blu-ray and DVD on May 10.
Is someone coming between Denise Richards and Jim Belushi in Cougars, Inc.?
Love, sex and tuition come together in Cougars, Inc., which revolves around a student (Kyle Gallner, Jennifer’s Body) who steps up to help his mother pay for his education when times are tough. Along with his friends, Sam launches the escort service “Cougars, Inc.” Okay, according to the press release, said escort service “allows a generation of women trying to hold onto their youth a second chance at love.”
Really, that’s what the release says.
We haven’t seen this one yet, but weren’t “Cougars” the hot stuff for straight-to-dvd movies a couple of years back?...

I guess that’s why we’re being subjected to so many remakes & reboots instead of new stuff. Darren Lynn Bousman’s (Saw II, III, IV) version of the 1980 Kaufman’s classic stars everyone’s favorite psycho chick with mom issues from the 90’s Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle) as, you guessed it, the psycho mother to three fugitives who come back home to the family home to hide out. Problem is, it’s no longer their house and the new occupants are in for a night of pure torture and terror. The film also stars Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine, Fanboys, The Tripper, Sin City), Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), Briana Evigan (Sorority Row, Step Up 2), Alexa Vega (Repo! The Genetic Opera), Shawn Ashmore (Frozen, Hatchet II, The Ruins), Matt O’Leary (Sorority Row, American Bully, Live Free or Die Hard, Frailty), Lyriq Bent (Saw II,...

As we here at EW have been saying since ABC's Cougar Town premiered last fall, the show's super-cougar Barb is one of the funniest new characters on television this season. Granted, she only shows up for maybe a minute every other episode—if we're lucky. (And you're in luck, she'll appear, however briefly, in tonight's new episode!) But regardless of her slim screen time, we thought it high time that we figure out exactly who is behind the hilarious one-liners and over-the-top cougaring Barb puts out there. Turns out, it's none other than the genius Carolyn Hennesy, an actress revered...

I have a new obsession and her name is Barb. If you haven't been watching ABC's new series Cougar Town, then you might not know her but she's kind of amazing. Played by Carolyn Hennessy (General Hospital), Barb is the ultimate cougar but also an incredible scene-stealer. She usually just has one or two scenes per episode but completely dominates with her campy line delivery; imagine a modern-day version of The Golden Girls' Blanche Devereaux. Barb is currently competing with Glee's Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) as my favorite new character on television. Plus, this has introduced me to the fabulous Hennessy,...
