Mike Holmes is a renowned builder/contractor who is passionate about his craft. Holmes had an early start in the construction industry which explains why he is so good at his craft and very passionate about supporting the younger generation to excel in the trade. He was inspired to expand his horizon as a builder through The Holmes Foundation after seeing a poorly done renovation project. Beyond his excellent work as a builder/contractor, Mike Holmes is a businessman, investor, and television host. ‘Elsbeth’ Flies To France
Paramount Global Content Distribution has licensed the highly anticipated CBS Studios series “Elsbeth” to TF1 in France.
Starring Emmy Award winner Carrie Preston, “Elsbeth” is based on the popular character of Elsbeth Tascioni, the astute but unconventional attorney featured in “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight.” “The series has been highly sought after in the French territory and this agreement will provide TF1 viewers exclusive access to the series in the market,” Paramount Global Content Distribution said.
The new series finds Elsbeth in New York City tackling a new investigative role and working alongside the NYPD after leaving her successful legal career in Chicago.
“TF1 is delighted to welcome this new series, driven by the talent of the amazing Carrie Preston,” said Sophie Leveaux, Tfi’s artistic director of acquisitions and international drama development, noting that the “Good Wife” universe was adored by audiences. “‘Elsbeth...

Dan Harrison never wanted “Holmes Family Effect” for Fox, but here we are.
When the coronavirus pandemic halted all television production in the United States, the Fox Entertainment EVP of program planning and content strategy had to get creative — and get on the phone with suppliers. First, Harrison acquired “L.A.’s Finest” from Spectrum.
Then he went international.
Ok, so Canada, where the Holmes Family operates both its building and television business, isn’t that far. It’s also proven to be a pretty good place to import shows from. “Schitt’s Creek” found enormous success coming down from Canada, and NBC has plugged some scheduling holes with medical dramas “Transplant” and “Nurses.”
It just makes sense. For starters, setting aside French for a second, we share a language. And these days, it feels like half of our American productions are actually shot in Vancouver anyway.

Home Reno Star Mike Holmes Seals Bell Media Partnership With Super Bowl ‘Holmes Family Effect’ Debut
Mike Holmes is making it right on his biggest scale yet.
The Canadian contractor and TV personality, whose personal motto promises to “make it right,” is preparing to unveil his latest renovation series, “Holmes Family Effect,” on Feb. 7 in the coveted post-Super Bowl timeslot. But it’s the platform his series is debuting on that has media watchers readjusting their own tool belts.
“Holmes Family Effect,” which debuts on Fox later this spring, marks Holmes’ debut on Canadian broadcaster CTV. Parent company Bell Media has been plotting Holmes’ splashy debut since 2019, when it announced the new partnership at its June upfront presentation. The alliance marked Holmes’ first break from HGTV Canada (owned by Bell Media competitor Corus Media) in 16 years. He first debuted on HGTV in 2003 with “Holmes on Homes.”

Mike Holmes, the expert licensed contractor who created and hosted reality series including Holmes on Homes and Holmes Inspection, wants a deserving family to win their dream home. But first, they have to put in a little sweat equity. “The American dream is to own your own home,” says Holmes. “But it wouldn’t be right just to hand a free house to someone, now would it?” On his new Fox reality competition series Home Free, Holmes challenges nine couples to revive houses for others in hopes of winning their own dream abode. Ah, the holidays. Time for the sharing of cheer, the giving of thanks, and - for millions of families like mine - the marathon viewing of Hgtv.
Let's face it: being cooped up for days on end with the same group of people isn't good for anyone, and before too long with too little to do even the most harmonious of families start to resemble the Big Brother house. That's why Hgtv is the perfect holiday guest: it's less divisive than CNN, less maudlin than Christmas specials, and it's not football.
But before we settle into a 12-episode run of Property Virgins, let's admit that sometimes Hgtv, for all its pluck and know-how, makes us want to kick a hole through some newly-hung drywall.

Alright stop. Renovate and listen. Reportedly, Vanilla Ice is getting his own show on the Diy Network. Vanilla, a.k.a. Robert Van Winkle, is going to star in a home improvement show called “The Vanilla Ice Project”, a working title, we hope. There is so much more naming potential, in our opinion. What about “Yo Diy, Let’s Kick It!” or “The House At A1A Beachfront Avenue“? A network representative said the idea for the show came about because “over the last 15 years, Rob has taught himself the basics of home improvement through hands-on experience.” In addition, “Rob demonstrates his vast knowledge in home renovation … . He calls the shots in this room-by-room home makeover series, exposing an entirely new side of the star — one that his fans never have seen before.” That’s a pretty amazing concept, although we wonder who will watch since it’s like, specifically...

I'm in the Northeast for the weekend for a couple reasons, one of them being the lovely and amazing Sofía who I spent all day walking around Manhattan with yesterday. It was absolutely wonderful and put me in such a good mood that I won't even complain about the fact that there is almost nothing worth the time to type it up on TV tonight. I mean, "Breaking Bad" is on and I guess there's a few of you who haven't fallen asleep on "Treme" yet, but overall it's a wasteland. Here is your Sunday night wasteland:
7:00 p.m.: "ABC Sports Special: Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night" on ABC. Special presentation.
"NBC Special: The Making of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter" on NBC. I won't be able to see this because I'll be en-route back to Maryland so if someone could answer this question in the comments...

I had two different approaches to tonight's column; the first was to ignore anything about the "Lost" finale and just move forward like it was a regular Sunday night with nothing on TV. The second was to just type "Lost" over and over again, like so: Lost. Lost lost lost lost? Lost lost lost. Lost! Lost lost, lost lost lost, lost. Lost. But then I realized that the column would be indistinguishable from the comments. Also, it stops looking like a real word super quick and starts to unnerve me in a way I can't properly describe. Much like the actual show! Bam! And as for the first, it would be silly for me to ignore one of the biggest television events of the decade out of spite. Hell, I might even watch the damn thing. There's no way I'll come out of it any more or less confused than...

I had a Totally Awesome Weekend with some of the other lovely Paji-Ladies and now get to crash back to reality with packing and moving my stuff to a storage unit for half the summer. I'll probably be watching some of whatever is on TV tonight while packing because anything is better than concentrating on packing. Even the crap that's on tonight. Here's the highlights:
7:00 p.m.: "60 Minutes" on CBS.
"America's Funniest Home Videos" on ABC. 20th season finale. Be sure to watch, I hear it'll be a real cliffhanger; you won't find out if some random guy gets hit in the nuts or not until the first episode of next season.
"The 2010 Miss USA Pageant" on NBC. Two hour special presentation.
"'Til Death" on Fox.
8:00 p.m.: "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" on ABC. 7th season finale.
"The Simpsons" on Fox.
"Sunday Best" on Bet.

Today is both Mother's Day and the 50th anniversary of the birth control pill, so really almost everyone has a reason to celebrate. Either you're celebrating the wonderful women in your life who are mothers, or you're celebrating the wonderful fact that not every woman has to become a mother or be a mother to more children than she wants. Those of you who are doing your celebrating over dinner; don't worry, you're not missing much on TV tonight. Here's what's on:

How Is It May?!? God, this spring is just whipping by for me and now my classes are all over and I've got to start thinking about packing and storage spaces and finding a place to live next year and it always sneaks up on me. Anyway, it also means we're headed into the time of year when shows start ending, unless you're a fan of "Friday Night Lights" like me and remember that it starts this Friday! Awesomely! Same day "Iron Man 2" comes out! So there's a lot to look forward to this first week in May as long as you like the same things I do. And if you don't, well, it's my column. Here's what's on TV tonight:
7:00 p.m.: "60 Minutes" on CBS.
"America's Funniest Home Videos" on ABC. I'd say something about how amazed I am that this is still going strong, but...

I'm currently caught in one of those evil cycles where there is no winning. I took my last test in one class! So now I can devote more energy to that project due this week. I got the final reading done for that other class! Which means I have a little more time to practice for that opera I'm playing next week. Any accomplishment is swiftly negated by the fact that there is just so much else I need to get done that free time is something I have to schedule rather than something I can stumble across after a particularly proactive afternoon. Here's a list of all the TV I won't be watching tonight because I'll be too busy working, playing my bass, cleaning up the disaster that is my room, or some combination of all three:

I tend to consider my Sundays successful if I can stay in pajamas for the whole day. I will go out of my way to push errands onto Saturday or Monday to ensure that I can spend Sunday being a hermit. I use it as an opportunity to focus my energy on all the things I need to do that don't involve leaving the house. It's not my fault that my house just happens to have my bed in it, and that as I'm being totally responsible and productive it just sits there, reminding me of the nap I could be taking. Especially considering that I wouldn't even have to change, because I'm already in pajamas. I don't start out planning to be especially lazy, but that's how it usually ends up. And I'm cool with that. Here's what's on TV tonight:

Against all odds I've actually managed to be marginally productive this weekend despite sleeping way too late both days and the associated hassles and time suck of making a police report because my bike got stolen. I'm looking forward to the end of the semester so I can go back to having weekends that can be spent doing my best impression of someone with narcolepsy before I get bored with that and start seeking out new projects to fill my time. And after next week I won't have any more "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" to watch on Saturdays for a very very long time, so I'll have to find something to fill that gap. Here's your Sunday night TV:
7:00 p.m.: "60 Minutes" on CBS.
"America's Funniest Home Videos" on ABC.
"Dateline" on NBC.
"Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom" on Animal Planet.

Happy Easter to those of you out there who are Christians of any stripe. Happy Zombie Jesus day to those of you out there who believe that Jesus Christ rising from the dead portends a day when all the dead shall rise and cull the lazy and stupid from humanity, leaving the planet to the quick witted and well armed. And for those of you who don't really believe in anything, Happy Cheap Candy Eve. Tomorrow you can feast on chocolate shaped like bunnies, marshmallows shaped like chicks, and many many varieties of candy shaped like eggs. For tonight, though, here's what the faithful and heathen alike can enjoy on television:
7:00pm: "60 Minutes" on CBS
"Dateline NBC" on NBC
"Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom: Bearwalker of the North Woods" on Animal Planet. Eighth season premiere. I'm a little wary of anyone who wants to go walk with bears after Timothy Treadwell,...

We've reached the magical time of year when Easter candy lines the shelves and if you're lucky enough to live in an area with a good sized Jewish population, there may even be Passover Coke. "What is Passover Coke?" I can hear some of you asking. At the risk of causing the Jewish readers of Pajiba to come after me for revealing this secret to any goyim not already aware of it, Passover Coke is special Coke made in Israel with real sucrose rather than high fructose corn syrup. Very similar to Mexican Coke, for those of you lucky enough to live near the border. Look for yellow caps with Hebrew on them, and double check the label to be sure. It's absolutely delicious and one of the things I love about spring. Along with Cadbury eggs, Starburst jelly beans and Reeses eggs. I may have a bit of a sweet tooth.

Q: I can't help feeling a little tingle when watching George Clooney. He seems so gay even though he never played a gay role. It's the twinkle in his eyes. His male friends are all dreamy and the women he's been attached to seem like they could care less. Is he the big gay secret in Hollywood, like Rock Hudson was? – Price, West Palm Beach, Fl
George Clooney
A: That little tingle you feel is called “being alive.” That said, Clooney seems unbelievably straight to me – the kind of man we here in Seattle call a “Seattle Straight Guy.” That means he’s thoughtful, articulate, fit, liberal as hell, well-dressed and well-groomed, but thoroughly straight, even as he’s totally cool with gay people.
If you mistake a Seattle Straight Guy for gay,...

TORONTO -- CBS' Survivor: Cook Islands is the latest Canadian primetime TV show to stream online. CanWest MediaWorks on Wednesday said each weekly Survivor: Cook Islands episode will migrate to its ad-supported globalTV.com video player a day after its Thursday night simulcast slot on Global Television -- one of two parallel TV networks operated by the Canadian broadcaster. The move follows rival broadcaster Alliance Atlantis Communications last week indicating all episodes of its hit HGTV show Holmes on Homes will stream on its HGTV.ca Web site this season.

TORONTO -- Targeting Internet-based TV viewers in the workplace, Canadian broadcaster Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. on Thursday said it will start streaming entire seasons of programming from its HGTV specialty channel. Toronto-based Alliance Atlantis, which owns and operates 13 specialty channels, said it will kick off the experiment by streaming the entire sixth season of its popular home renovation series Holmes on Homes, beginning Monday. All 13 episodes of Holmes on Homes will stream for one week on the HGTV.ca Web site after they bow on TV.
