Wow. It's been quite a while since we've had a holiday episode on Bones. That's exactly what "High Treason in the Holiday Season" gives us, though we don't get to see Brennan determining the cause of death over a turkey carcass like we did eons ago when the Jeffersonian crew shared Thanksgiving. An even bigger surprise is that Brennan has secretly arranged to have a full grown Parker Booth (Gavin MacIntosh) flown in from Britain. Her awkward sneakiness about the whole thing has Booth salivating over Christmas gift possibilities as well as accusing her of having her pants justifiably set on fire fire (as in "liar, liar, etc").
The central issue in "High Treason in the Holiday Season," however, is the delicate balance between American freedoms and their consequences. A prolific political reporter had gone hog wild in using intel from a government snitch to write articles that proved fatal...

The new horror anthology "The ABCs of Death" wants to give gorehounds what they want in alphabetical order by representing each of their 26 segments with a letter. That's fine with us, since we always have plenty of death scenes organized with the Dewey Decimal System, and here are 15 of the most memorable, bloody, and enjoyable ones in the bunch.
Oh yeah, um, spoilers.
Taketoki Washizu in 'Throne of Blood' (1957)
'A' is for 'Arrows'
In one of Akira Kurosawa's many samurai epics with star/badass supreme Toshiro Mifune, the two of them created the kind of arrow-related death that "Lord of the Rings" elf Legolas must dream about at night. By the time this Macbeth stand-in is done for he's got more wood in him than Jenna Jameson and resembles a stoned porcupine. Sayonara, sucker!

It’s Monday, so we all know what that means! Yes, it’s time for another rundown of DVDs and Blu-ray’s hitting stores online and offline this week. It’s a very light week this week, so let us breakdown the new releases and highlight what you should – and shouldn’t – be buying from today, March 4th 2013.
Pick Of The Week
Sleep Tight (DVD/Blu-ray)
Spanish psychological horror from director Jaume Balagueró. The film follows César (Luis Tosar), the concierge to the residents at a wealthy apartment building. César seems extraordinarily helpful and polite and is consequently adored by the residents, but little do they know that he is in fact a man so incapable of happiness and human feeling that he makes it his goal in life to make others as miserable as he is. He focuses much of his attention on Clara (Martra Etura), a beautiful young...

5) Melody’s Echo Chamber “Crystallized”
Directed by Zabia Jabbar
First on the list this week is the latest from Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker and French singer Melody Prochet. This video features a heavy use of disorienting edits which suits the lofi-esque track really well. The deadpan performances provided by Melody help transform a slightly boring concept into a cool, visually interesting video.
4) Ra Ra Riot “Dance With Me”
The Brooklyn-based indie pop band Ra Ra Riot get chased by a bunch of zombie-skeletons in their latest video “Dance With Me”. This is a somewhat scary concept but juxtaposed by an upbeat track makes the video fun and entertaining. The video consists of quirky, Diy, cut-and-paste visuals that are really refreshing.
3) Atoms For Peace “Ingenue”
Directed by Garth Jenkins
Ever since Radiohead’s video for “Lotus Flower” emerged, people around the world have longed for more videos of Thom Yorke’s mesmerising dancing.

Genuinely fascist films made in democratic countries are agreeably scarce, although Gregory La Cava's Gabriel Over the White House (1933)—or President Jesus Hitler as a friend dubbed it—could certainly qualify, even if it does veer around a lot, almost as if a Hollywood film were trying to avoid committing itself politically. Nominations for other fascist films will be gratefully considered.
Bulldog Drummond was featured in ten novels by a pseudonymous character called "Sapper," (to sap: to slug over the head, British slang). Drummond, an ex-soldier bored by civilian life, advertises for adventure and finds it, as detailed in 1929 Bulldog Drummond with Ronald Colman. This movie largely avoids the racism and jingoistic fervor of the source novels, and seems to play the more brutal moments for laughs, as when Colman exchanges sweet nothings with Joan Bennett while cheerfully throttling Lionel Atwill.
The books' biggest influence in an indirect one:...

Grabbers, starring Richard Coyle, Ruth Bradley and Russell Tovey picked up by IFC Midnight. IFC Midnight has announced that they are acquiring North American and Latin American rights to the film scripted by Kevin Lehane, and helmed by Jon Wright, reports Deadline. Forward Films' Tracy Brimm and Kate Myers produce along with Martina Niland of Samson Films, High Treason's Eduardo Levy and James Martin, and The Salt Company's Piers Tempest. We reviewed Grabbers at this year's Sundance Film Festival and gave it a solid 4/5 score. Also in the cast are Lalor Roddy, David Pearse, and Bronagh Gallagher. In Grabbers, something sinister has come to the shores of Erin Island, unbeknownst to the quaint population...

"Meretricious agents of the Kaiser were stationed at such places as Marble Arch and Hyde Park Corner. In this black book of sin details were given of the unnatural defloration of children...wives of men in supreme positions were entangled. In Lesbian ecstasy the most sacred secrets of the state were threatened."
The above quote, from Wikipedia by way of Philip Hoare's Oscar Wilde's Last Stand, refers to the bizarre obsessions of one Noel Pemberton Billing, aviator, inventor, member of parliament, and author-producer of High Treason, Britain's answer to Metropolis.
Npb was a queer duck: a passionate, pathological homophobe, as well as a champion of victory through airpower, as well as something of a feminist and peacemonger, going by this movie. A weird set of qualities to find in one personality.
