There is no doubt that Windham Rotunda left an impactful legacy in WWE. Using the ring name Bray Wyatt, Rotunda created many memorable moments in the promotion. Sadly the world lost Windham last year, but his memory and his visions of creativity can be still felt today.
One of Windham’s creations was the character Uncle Howdy. Windham created the character for his younger brother Taylor Michael Rotunda who goes by the ring name Bo Dallas. There have been various Uncle Howdy teases popping up on both television and social media,
During the ending credits of the Bray Wyatt documentary that was released on Peacock a few weeks back, there was a hint of an Uncle Howdy return. A former member of the Wyatt family Erick Rowan had to cancel previously planned shows he was set to appear at.

Barry Windham, WWE Hall Of Famer and former member of The Four Horsemen wrestling team alongside Ric Flair, suffered a heart attack over the weekend and is currently in the ICU. According to Windham’s niece, Mika Rotunda, the sister of pro wrestlers Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas, the 62-year-old went into cardiac arrest at the airport on Friday evening. She shared an update on her uncle’s condition on a GoFundMe page dedicated to helping the wrestler with his medical bills. According to Rotunda, Windham does not have health insurance. Rotunda writes, “After those countless years of wrestling matches, traveling and entertaining worldwide, he experienced a number of taxing injuries and ended up undergoing multiple surgeries. That led to other health complications. Barry hung his boots for the last time in the early 2000s. Since then he has been limited with work due to his medical history as well as left without health insurance.

Two current WWE superstars met Sting way back in 2000 at a WCW show. Those two boys were none other than a ten year old Bo Dallas and thirteen year old Bray Wyatt.
The photo of the pair meeting their wrestling idol has surfaced on social media, showing just how cross generational WWE has become. On a Raw after-show just a few months ago, Sting decked Dallas with the Scorpion Death Drop.
Bo and Bray, real names Taylor Rotunda and Windham Rotunda, were backstage at the WCW show because their father Mike Rotunda was working there. Being around the wrestlers is partly what inspired the two boys to get into wrestling, and they’ve now got semi successful careers themselves.

It’s been an interesting year in WWE full of ups and downs, so as we hit the month of December it’s that time of year where we look back on some things that happened in 2014 while also looking ahead to 2015. This time the focus is on WWE’s most improved performers of the year.
The term “improved” is subjective. There are so many people on WWE’s roster that you could say are in a better sport right now than they were a year ago, but is it because they improved or simply due to the fact that they were given more of an opportunity? Every circumstance is different.
There are guys and girls on the WWE roster that are more talented than people in PPV matches, yet they are not in a position where we could say they are improved.

Tune in to Monday Night Raw and you will inevitably hear Michael Cole tout the lineage of a second- or third-generation superstar. Legacies are a big part of professional wrestling right now. WWE currently is chock-full of wrestlers whose fathers competed in the squared circle (although some of them are never referenced): Randy Orton, Curtis Axel, the Usos, Goldust, Stardust, Bo Dallas, Bray Wyatt, Diego, The Rock and Roman Reigns. If you look at the roster about a year ago, you could add Camacho, Alberto Del Rio, Road Dogg and Ted Dibiase to that list.
While second-generation wrestlers are often highly touted due to their lineage, the distinction is not limited to the men. There are a significant number of women who followed their fathers (and in some cases, their mothers) into the world of professional wrestling. Some have made their way to WWE and are currently competing on Raw and Smackdown,...

WWE’s developmental territory Nxt has come on leaps and bounds over the last year with an increasing number of its stars making waves on the main roster.
The likes of Rusev, The Wyatts, Paige and Bo Dallas all started with the Florida based promotion alongside Messrs Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins which shows how integral Nxt has become to WWE.
The Nxt superstars are given a platform to develop a niche following before taking it to next level on Raw and Smackdown.
Such is the state of the current programming, many see Nxt as WWE’s most compelling brand which is as much a complement to the up and comers as it is a detriment to the main roster.
The nature of the beast means WWE needs to be exceptional at forward planning. They need to know how the storylines of today will end and where the storylines of tomorrow will then start.

Nxt has become a breeding ground for future WWE main event level talent. Over the past two years, WWE has developed talent that are now competing in main events all over the world. Performers like Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Paige and Aj Lee have all come through the Nxt development system and are on their respective ways to huge, long-term careers in WWE.
As talent continues to move up to the main roster, WWE must look to various outlets to refill their developmental system with up and coming talent. Not every performer that comes out of Nxt will be a main event level player on the roster. There needs to be a balance. They need to develop talent for every level of the card. For every Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, there is an Adam Rose, Xavier Woods and Bo Dallas.

Watching Ryback teeter toward, and then away from, Team Authority last night was a fitting microcosm of the shell-shocking brute's past couple of years. The former Nexus member has swung unpredictably from face to heel, not to mention main-event relevance to glorified tag-team enhancement, since breaking through in 2012. Though now it appears, in lieu of the "injured" Randy Orton, WWE's ever-starved monster is stepping up as the company's unallied wild card heading into Survivor Series.

WWE’s Smackdown show was taped from Wichita, Kansas this week. The Hell In A Cell go-home show will air this Friday and it represents WWE’s final effort to sell the show.
The broadcast will open up with Dean Ambrose in the ring for a promo. He called out Seth Rollins and emphasised their storied history. The heel then came out and informed Ambrose that he’d be seeing him later in the show. This was a pretty low-profile opening and too reminiscent of the standard angles we’ve been seeing for weeks now.
The Miz and Damien Sandow beat Los Matadores in a throw-away filler match.
Aj Lee defeated Alicia Fox with a roll up, to restore some momentum for her title defence against Paige this weekend.
Dolph Ziggler defended his intercontinental title against Cesaro. The champ retained with a Zig Zag in what was (unsurprisingly) a great match.

Oh yeah, SmackDown also celebrated its 15th anniversary, which is also approximately the 13th anniversary since the show has been watchable.
In the most homicidal, veiled threat of the week, Jerry Lawler asked what’s the difference between Bo Dallas and a pothole? The answer? He’d swerve to avoid a pothole. Uncle Jerry, how could you? Well if Bo goes missing, I say the King is the prime suspect. McMahon is already doing a pretty good job of killing his career, no need to kill him outright!

For the first time since March, Monday Night Raw made its triumphant return to Brooklyn's Barclays Center. It's a journey that, going by surprise guest The Rock's Gps, necessitates touching down on the corner of Jabroni Drive and Cheap-Pop Avenue and trekking across all four of NYC's other boroughs before finally arriving in Bk to generate some heat and debut a vintage Mike Tyson varsity jacket.
Or, if you're the rest of us, it meant plopping down on a chaise lounge and plodding through three-plus hours of largely Herculean silliness.

From the sounds of swelling Cm Punk chants to the sight of what might be Justin Gabriel in furry-fetish attire hand-in-hand with former presidential candidate Jesse Jackson, last night's Raw did not disappoint.
Unless, of course, you're still smarting over Roman Reigns' momentum-killing hernia surgery, skeptical that Rosa Mendes can help carry the Divas division or yearn for a time when in-ring antics were more provocative than booby-trapped briefcases.

2K Sports has revealed full details of their MyCareer mode for WWE 2K15. The mode will incorporate an immersive and comprehensive career driven gaming experience, with players able to experience the journey of starting as a rookie and fighting toward the long term goal of winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The in-depth details of this sound very exciting. You’ll start off by creating your wrestler in 2K15’s ‘creation suite’, you’ll then report to WWE’s Performance Centre. It sounds just like the real thing – you’ll train under Bill DeMott, navigating a series of objectives in the training areas.
Players will then progress to Nxt, just as a wrestler does in the real world.
“At Nxt, they will encounter a roster of new and future WWE Superstars, including Rusev, Bo Dallas, Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn and Corey Graves, all of whom will also be available...

This week’s Smackdown was taped in Ontario, California, with several implications for September’s Night Of Champions. Due for broadcast this Friday, the main event will be The Wyatt Family vs Roman Reigns, Big Show and Mark Henry. Results and spoilers follow.
The show opened with Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt. Reigns ended up winning by disqualification when Erick Rowan and Luke Harper attacked. This resulted in a Wyatt Family beatdown of the former Shield leader, until Big Show and Mark Henry ran in to make the save. The six man main event was then set for later in the show.
Seth Rollins defeated Rob Van Dam. The finish saw Rollins hit the curb stomp for the pin. Afterwards, Van Dam exited the ring quickly, and he’s expected to leave WWE imminently. His latest run has been bland and there’s doubt if he or WWE...

Stone Cold Steve Austin, along with quite a few other legends and current stars hosted a panel in celebration of SummerSlam to reveal the roster for WWE 2K15. There wasn’t any gameplay on display, but rather stills of each character’s selection screen portrait, which was a bit disappointing but hey, finally getting a glimpse at who is making the cut is still an event.
Unfortunately, the roster that was shown is noticeably thin. For comparison, there are only a little over 50 wrestlers confirmed in WWE 2K15, while 82 different stars made it into WWE 2K14. Naturally, this has a lot of gamers and wrestling fans upset, and subsequently glossing over some miscommunication between 2K Games, WWE, and even the stars running the panel.

Things are sure heating up in WWE as we have finally made it to SummerSlam. If pro wrestling was food, we’d have ourselves a well cooked steak. In Tna, things have heated to kind of a medium-rare sort of steak…well, maybe not so much a steak as an under-cooked dollar menu burger. While the company has been surprisingly decent the past month or so, time may be running out for them to make a big play. I’m sorry to say, but I don’t think Team 3D vs. The Hardy Boyz in 2014 is going to be what saves them.
While each company is in vastly different financial situations, it’s an important time for both of them. Tna has to justify their existence quickly, and WWE has Network subscriptions coming up. And if I hear “$9.99” one more time, I’m going to buy pay-per-views at full price out of spite.

This week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer had a news item about how WWE has soured on Bo Dallas. According to the report, Vince McMahon and WWE officials have “given up” on the push for Dallas, which is why he lost to R-Truth on Raw a few weeks ago in a move that surprised a lot of us. The character had a lot of momentum and then all of a sudden he lost to a guy like Truth that was barely on television. It was reported weeks ago that Vince McMahon was losing interest in some of the newer gimmicks like Adam Rose and Dallas, so this is a result of that.
It’s a shame that it happened because the “Bolieve” gimmick was fun to watch. You could tell the crowds were reacting well to it. The undefeated streak was really getting over and it...

Nxt has been a great thing for WWE programming. It allows fans to get to know upcoming WWE Superstars long before they make their Raw and Smackdown debuts. The fan following these wrestlers receive will help them immensely when it comes to finding an identity that will keep fans interested in seeing them perform each week.
Lately, WWE has hit the Greenlight on three wrestlers with pretty goofy gimmicks: Adam Rose, Emma, and Bo Dallas. Each wrestler is good in the ring, and while they still need time to develop their characters, the gimmicks they currently have will need to be fixed up by WWE’s creative team in order to cater towards what the average WWE fan wants to see.

This week’s WWE Smackdown was filmed on Tuesday night from Corpus Christi, Texas. The main event pitted Chris Jericho against Erick Rowan, with a co-main event of Dolph Ziggler vs Alberto Del Rio. A key development coming out of the show was Randy Orton challenging Roman Reigns to a SummerSlam match. With just three weeks to go until the August pay per view, WWE’s key feuds are heating up. The episode will be broadcast this Friday night, the results are as follows:
- Jack Swagger defeated Cesaro with the Patriot Lock. This resulted in Lana and Rusev coming out and challenging Swagger to a match at SummerSlam. Zeb Colter accepted on Swagger’s behalf.
It’s hard times yet again for Cesaro, with his losing streak continuing. For Swagger things look much rosier, his feud with Rusev is one of WWE’s hottest programs for SummerSlam.

The highly anticipated WWE 2K15 roster has allegedly leaked online. The big news is that Cm Punk is in the game, alongside a range of Nxt stars. There’s 92 wrestlers in total, including Mick Foley who had been in doubt after not signing a WWE legends deal earlier this year.
The leak surfaced on GameFAQs, where it was claimed that the list came from the August edition of Game Informer Magazine. The post has since been removed.
The official roster reveal will be on August 16th in Los Angeles. 2K will be working in partnership with WWE’s SummerSlam event which takes place on the same weekend. That timing ensures maximum publicity for the video game’s content.
Is there any validity to this apparent leak ahead of time? The list certainly looks plausible. Punk’s contract may have expired, but he would have been under a deal when production of the game started.

It’s no secret that The Rock is willing to get back inside the WWE ring if the opponent and the payday add up to the right situation for everyone, but that means he won’t just return for anyone. It has to be someone who is not only deserving of a top-level feud against The Rock, but someone who makes a reasonable opponent through good storytelling.
WWE management would be forgiven for bringing The Rock back for just about any reason, but the better the opponent, the better the resulting feud. After all, it wouldn’t make much sense for The Rock to return to feud with Bo Dallas or Sin Cara because the feud would be pointless and fans would be wondering why Rocky was wrestling someone below his level. Whoever faces The Rock has to be a legitimate star with major heat or support from the crowd.

The lineup for WWE’s SummerSlam event in Los Angeles on August 17 had two more matches added to the event. Here’s the lineup so far with notes on each match.
John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship – Lesnar wasn’t on Raw this week, so there was a promo exchange between Cena and Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman. Cena isn’t expected on Raw next week due to filming a movie and Lesnar probably won’t be on either. Both guys are expected on April 11, which is when Hulk Hogan will be hosting Raw.
Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt – This is a rematch from Battleground, which Jericho won. Wyatt attacked Jericho on Raw just like he did one week earlier. Wyatt was only on Raw for about two minutes and didn’t get to do a promo. Jericho was featured in a match as well as a promo.

We plan on writing about it weekly here on WhatCulture in a one page post with a recap of the matches, key segments and thoughts on the characters involved as well. While it’s not a show with major segments or “can’t miss” moments that Raw has, we feel it’s worthwhile so we’re going to cover it.
At the start of the show they advertised Rusev vs. Jack Swagger. On Raw they said it was going to be Rusev against Sheamus. It just shows how quick they are to change their mind.

WWE Battleground is smack in the middle of Money in the Bank and SummerSlam — right between two of the biggest shows of the year. Because of that, this will be a throwaway event with little change or much excitement. Storylines will be built here and a clearer picture of SummerSlam will be made by the end of the night. Here are predictions of what should be happening at this less-than-stellar, but purposeful WWE event.
Pre-Show Match Cameron vs. Naomi
Naomi proved to me that she can have a great divas match at Money in the Bank 2014 and I look forward to seeing more of her. This is a grudge that I suppose we’re supposed to care about because of the history of these two as Funkadactyls, but I mainly just want to see Naomi win and move on to bigger things. Plus, I’m sure Jimmy Uso has taught...

It’s been two weeks since the last WWE pay-per-view and I’m starting to go a little crazy! The Roman Reigns era may be coming up soon, The Santino era may have come to an end, and WWE announcers won’t stop telling me that John Cena is the greatest of all time. I just don’t know what to Bolieve in anymore. Well, this week in wrestling we were treated to Alberto Del Rio’s and Dolph Ziggler’s 15th televised one-on-one match since 2013. We saw Sheamus and Del Rio have their 6th one-one-one match this year (Del Rio is 0-6, he should probably quit trying), and thankfully we witnessed Willow go away and Jeff Hardy return.

There are a lot of ways that a wrestler can debut in wrestling. If they’re a big name from somewhere else then perhaps a video package would work. When they are starting out as a completely new character after failing as something else then they might get introductory like we’ve seen guys like Fandango, Adam Rose and Bo Dallas receive. Sometimes, though, these wrestlers end up debuting as nobodies.
You can probably remember the occasions when guys or girls show up as fans while the announcers freak out wondering who that person is. If you’re a “smart” fan you might know who they are, but if you’re a casual fan then you likely have no idea who it is. As the weeks and months go by, we end up learning more about these people. Of course they are wrestlers. We just didn’t know it at the time.

Following Monday’s edition of Raw there were only three matches that were official for WWE’s Battleground pay-per-view on July 20 in Tampa. After last night’s Smackdown and Main Event tapings we can add four matches to the official lineup to make it seven.
Here’s what we knew officially after Raw.
WWE World Heavyweight Title Fatal 4-Way: John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane. That’s the clear main event. Nothing else on this card is really close to it in terms of its stature.
WWE Intercontinental Title Battle Royal: Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam, Big E, Alberto Del Rio, Fandango, Sheamus, Cesaro, Damien Sandow, The Great Khali, Ryback, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. There are 13 names. The key addition is Sheamus, who is already the Us Champion. He could add the Ic Title to the Us Title he already has.

The next WWE pay-per-view is called Battleground and it takes place on July 20 in Tampa, Florida. Even though there is only one more week of Raw before the show, WWE has only announced three matches for the event. Two of them were known last week and one was added on Raw.
The new match added to the show was Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) taking on Rusev (with Lana). During Raw, Rusev was in a match and Colter appeared doing a taped promo that aired during the Rusev. That kind of promo doesn’t happen too often. The story has been built up for weeks now, so it makes sense that they’ll have the “Real American” taking on the evil “Russian” at Battleground.

The return of Chris Jericho to Monday Night Raw on June 30 took the wrestling world by surprise. After all, he has stayed busy by touring with his band Fozzy and his podcast Talk is Jericho. One of the busiest men in all of showbiz, Y2J never seems to have nothing to do. Now back in World Wrestling Entertainment after a year-long absence, he returns to a much different company than the one he left last July.
Youth is the name of the game in 2014′s WWE. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and the Wyatt Family are main event acts. Bo Dallas, Adam Rose, Paige and Rusev have been called up from Nxt and have had varying degrees of success thus far in their main roster stints. The WWE main roster is always changing, some wrestlers leave for whatever reason happens to cause their departure, some wrestlers move up the card because management wants to give them a push and some wrestlers move downwards, or stay still, sometimes merely because the creative team has a lack of ideas for their television character.
The last twelve months have been memorable and a lot has happened to the main WWE roster since June of 2013. So, let’s take a look at the main superstars who are on the main stage of WWE, rate them, and look at how their future in WWE looks at this moment.
The grading system is as follows:
A+ – Is/Should be one of the main faces of WWE. A true star.
A – Should be/Is in the main event scene and has the talent to stay there.
B – Should be being pushed as a future top contender.

Daniel Bryan announced on the Money In The Bank pre-show that he is possibly going to need a second neck surgery. The reason for this is that Bryan hasn’t recovered any strength in his arm after his original May 15th surgery. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio believes Bryan’s announcement was legitimate, commenting that this a very worrying problem for Bryan’s status in WWE. Bryan vowed to return at some stage, but with a second surgery looming, this could see Bryan on the recovery bench for the rest of 2014.
“I would think that if he had another surgery, it’s probably going to be a six month to a year thing,” Meltzer said on Bryan’s predicament.
Given that WWE and Bryan didn’t give any definite answers at Money In The Bank, they’re probably still unsure themselves. They’ll try to avoid a second surgery if need be,...

With less than a week to go until WWE Money in the Bank 2014 on PPV, we head into the “go-home” edition of Raw for June, the final stretch before the big show happens. With two separate ladder matches announced for the PPV, one for the vacant WWE World Title and the other for the Money in the Bank Contract Briefcase, we should hopefully find out the other entrants who will compete alongside Seth Rollins in the Contract ladder match.
I mentioned in recent weeks how stale the WWE product has become again, and with Daniel Bryan on the injured list it only spells further stagnancy if WWE refuse to do something different at the upcoming PPV show. Let’s see if things feel different tonight, or if we get the same old episode of Raw, with the same old context-less matches between guys who should be kept apart until the big matches.
