Cameras are still rolling on Thunderbolts* in Atlanta, and while we're hoping some revealing set photos are imminent (a first look at The Sentry would be nice), JustJared.com has just shared a couple of new hi-res shots of Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes.
The former Winter Soldier once again has long hair and is rocking a goatee which, while by no means a drastic change, has generated plenty of discussion among fans on social media.
Look closely and you'll spot a crew member carrying a glove Stan will wear to portray Bucky's cybernetic arm! Having a suit on means he doesn't have to don a full sleeve, something we're sure the actor is grateful for. We also see Geraldine Viswanathan's mystery character.
As for what Bucky is up to, we've done some digging, and it sounds like he's attending a court hearing. Interestingly, Julia Louis-Dreyfus's CIA Director...

The upcoming Thunderbolts* film is poised to be one of the most exciting entries in the MCU’s upcoming slate. The studio has made several changes within the studio creatively and approach-wise to improve its output after a string of underperforming projects. With the team behind Netflix’s Beef coming in, expectations are quite high for the film.
Concept art featuring the team in Thunderbolts*
The film will unite a rag-tag team of antiheroes, including Yelena Belova, Taskmaster, Red Guardian, US Agent, Ghost, and Bucky Barnes. Following Florence Pugh’s on-set video that went viral a few weeks ago, a new photo, presumably from the film, shows a new look at Sebastian Stan as Bucky. But fans are rather focused on a Jeremy Renner look-alike in the photo.

Thunderbolts* remains one of Marvel Studios' most mysterious and intriguing upcoming movies, with that asterisk only serving to heighten anticipation for a project many believe is secretly Dark Avengers.
There are perhaps a few too many heroes on the team for that to happen, with it currently looking a lot like a sequel to Black Widow and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
In the latter, Bucky Barnes was fully freed from his Winter Soldier programming and now seems to be working with the CIA as part of this government-approved team. Rumour has it his role in Thunderbolts* isn't massive, leading to concerns this could be where the hero's story ends.
We'll see, but a new set photo has surfaced today showcasing Bucky's overhauled appearance.
He's not suited up but is wearing a traditional suit and rocking a pretty mean goatee. Is he undercover or just shaking up his appearance?...

Skeleton Crew is arguably one of the more intriguing Star Wars projects heading our way, with very little known about how the series will fit into the wider Galaxy Far, Far Away (we've heard next to nothing since Star Wars Celebration attendees were treated to a brief sneak peek last April).
What we do know is that the Disney+ series focuses on a group of kids who get lost in space, with Jude Law cast in the lead role as a mysterious Jedi. With a confirmed post-Return of the Jedi setting, we also anticipate it somehow tying into The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.
Collider (via SFFGazette.com) recently spoke with director and executive producer Jon Watts and learned that Skeleton Crew is set to launch this holiday season. That presumably means a December launch.
The filmmaker also shared a new description of the series. "It's about a group of kids...

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was one of the main attractions of the hit NBC series Seinfeld. The brainchild of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, many of its storylines were inspired by real-life experiences of Seinfeld’s life. The series ran for 9 successful seasons and is considered one of the most influential sitcoms of all time.

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is an upcoming live-action series set to broaden the Star Wars universe. It’s set for a 2024 premiere on Disney+ (no specific release date yet) and was created by Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.
The series follows a group of kids, probably Force-sensitive, who must embark on an adventure to find their way back home after a mysterious discovery leads them astray.
Kerry Condon, who stars in ‘Skeleton Crew,’ shared her surprise about working with children on the show. She mentioned how this production differs greatly from anything we’ve previously seen in Star Wars.
It’s so great. I don’t even have kids, but I’d pay to see this. I loved it. I loved being on it. There was something about it that was so innocent and playful and lovely. People say don’t work with kids or animals, but I don’t know about that.

It wouldn’t be the Marvel Cinematic Universe without teases, glances, and surprises around every corner. And keeping up the tradition of sneak peeks, Florence Pugh, who debuted in the MCU as Yelena Belova in Black Widow, has sent the Marvel fandom into a frenzy with her latest post on Instagram.
In this post, Pugh can be seen in costume from the sets of the highly anticipated movie Thunderbolts. Not just the post, but the caption too seems to have some easter eggs in it. There’s surely a lot to unpack with this one.

The upcoming MCU film Thunderbolts is currently in production, scheduled to be released in May 2025. The Florence Pugh and David Harbour starrer reportedly added another member to its cast. Mulan’s Liu Yifei is reportedly the newest addition to the cast of Thunderbolts. The film is directed by Jake Schreier and also stars Sebastian Stan and Lewis Pullman.
While IMDb shows Liu Yifei as simply an ‘Agent’, fans have been speculating about which role the actress would be playing. While Marvel boasts of many Asian-origin superheroes, only some have had associations with the Thunderbolts. Hence, here are three Marvel heroes that the Chinese superstar could play in the upcoming film.

As she moves into the Atlanta studio, we see pieces of large sets before she comes across director Jake Schreier. You can see the Thunderbolts logo on the back of a chair as well as a brief snippet of footage on the monitor, which shows Yelena pointing a gun at someone. With any other movie, this might not seem particularly revealing, but for a Marvel movie… well, I’d be putting my will in order.

But this time around, a familiar face whose story and association were intricately tied to the Star-Spangled Man in the superhero film franchise will not be present.

The last we saw of Bucky was in the Disney+ miniseries alongside Mackie, and although he is expected to return in Thunderbolts (2025), the news ought to dishearten some fans. In an interview, Anthony Mackie divulged his disappointment and illustrated not only Stan’s absence but also Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo.

Florence Pugh’s Thunderbolts has been riddled with production issues, and the film is facing a major problem in casting its central villain, Sentry. Beef star Steven Yeun recently backed out of the role due to scheduling conflicts, and Marvel has been on a search for perfect casting. As far as Marvel movies go, Black Widow is one of the most divisive entries in the long-running series of inter-connected superhero slugfests. While some fans feel the movie was too late to the party, others say it was a questionable display of Marvel’s dependence on shotty VFX above character-driven narratives. On another end of the spectrum, Ray Winstone, who plays Dreykov, the film’s Big Bad and dominating force behind the Red Room project, says making the movie was a nightmare. Winstone’s experience in the film was so exhausting that the actor tried to have himself recast.
Speaking with Radio Times, Winstone said, “It was fine until you have to do the reshoots,” Winstone said about his Black Widow experience. “Then you find out that a few producers have come down, and your performance is too much, it’s too strong… That’s the way Marvel works.

Once again, Marvel's long-awaited "Thunderbolts" movie has been given a new release date. The good news for those looking forward to this one is that, for once, Disney has moved the film up by a couple of months rather than delay it again. Whether or not this date is the one that sticks remains to be seen, but mark your calendars for May 2, 2025, and plan accordingly.
Marvel Studios did a little bit of shuffling around with its release calendar, with "The Fantastic Four" taking over the July 25, 2025, release date that was previously held by "Thunderbolts." In announcing the new dates, Marvel also finally confirmed the cast for "Fantastic Four," with Pedro Pascal playing Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby playing Sue Storm, Ebon Moss Bachrach playing Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn playing Johnny Storm. Most of those names have been circling the rumor mill for some time, but have finally been made official.

Marvel Studios said Wednesday that it has moved the release date for Thunderbolts to the start of summer on May 2, 2025, while pushing back Fantastic Four to July 25, 2025.
The news comes the same day it confirmed the cast for its long-awaited reboot of Fantastic Four, which will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (aka the Thing).
WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman is directing Fantastic Four off a script by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
Thunderbolts is directed by Jake Schreier and stars Florence Pugh, Harrison Ford, Geraldine Viswanathan, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell and Hannah John-Kamen. The movie reportedly revolves around a group of villains who are sent on missions commissioned by the government.

Following a turbulent year marked by dueling industry strikes and the violent contraction–if not yet full pop–of the streaming bubble, 2024 has thus far been pretty good to Hollywood. It certainly helps that we’re in the middle of awards season, which for cineastes amounts to a three-month holiday largely characterized by voluminous binge-watching. And not just binge-watching of the year’s top films. For the curious, the season also offers up a smuggler’s bounty full of talking special post-screening Q&As, roundtables, filmmaker panels, celebratory cocktail receptions and more.
Traditionally Film Independent’s Directors Close-Up series has been a little bit of all of the above, presenting behind-the-scenes insight into the year’s most important works of cinema, straight from the mouths and brains of filmmakers themselves. Marvel’s Thunderbolts film loses another key cast member, with Ayo Ederberi set to be replaced by Blockers‘ Geraldine Viswanathan.
Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts project really does seem to be struggling to catch a break at the moment.
Production on the film was suspended last year due to the strikes, and as things look to get back up and running, the project keeps losing key creatives. The film’s cinematographer Steve Yedlin had to exit the project because of scheduling conflicts following the delay caused by those aforementioned strikes.
Beef's Steven Yeun also left the film before production restarted, citing scheduling conflicts. Although it was never confirmed, Yeun was heavily rumoured to be playing the role of Sentry in the ensemble, which may well have placed him as a central role in the film. A part which could well require a lot of the film’s heavy lifting as far as drama and tension go.

More changes are happening for the cast line-up of Marvel's Thunderbolts. On the heels of Steven Yeun departing (with Top Gun: Maverick's Lewis Pullman reportedly in talks to replace him), we have another substitution in the works. The Bear's Ayo Edebiri, who had been in an unspecified role for the film is now departing due to a schedule clash, to be replaced by Blockers' Geraldine Viswanathan.

The upcoming Marvel Studios production Thunderbolts is going to feature multiple actors from various previous Marvel films and TV shows reprising their roles. It’s got Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster… and if Thunderbolts had started filming last summer, as it was supposed to before the strikes hit, it also would have had actress/writer/comedian Ayo Edebiri, whose credits include Big Mouth, The Bear, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, in the cast. Unfortunately for Edebiri, the production delay caused her to run into scheduling issues, so she has had to drop out of the project. Deadline reports that the character she was going to be playing will now be played by Geraldine Viswanathan.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seemingly found its new Sentry. Though it hasn't been officially confirmed by the folks at Marvel Studios, it has been reported widely that the character will appear in the upcoming "Thunderbolts" movie that is set to conclude Phase 5 of the MCU. Recently, Steven Yeun announced his departure from the film, which left the production with a pretty big problem to solve.
According to Deadline, Lewis Pullman is the man who has been tasked with solving that problem. The 30-year-old actor, best known for his work in movies like "Top Gun: Maverick" and "The Strangers: Prey at Night," is now poised to join his biggest franchise yet. Jake Schreier is directing "Thunderbolts," which is expected to begin filming in the coming months. It was reported earlier that Steven Yeun was set to make his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the Thunderbolts film. Unfortunately, scheduling issues that cropped up due to last year’s dual strikes in Hollywood would now prevent Yeun from participating in filming. The actor felt remorse for the dilemma and wanted to make it clear that he hopes to join the MCU in the future, “I wanna do a Marvel movie. I have some ideas.” Yeun would also apologize to the fans for holding up the production, “It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out.” Deadline is now reporting that Top Gun: Maverick‘s Lewis Pullman is now in talks with Marvel Studios to be Yeun’s replacement. Anyone hungry for more Beef?
After a packed nine days in which the Netflix dark comedy swept at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, the show was officially crowned best limited series at the 2023 Emmys on Monday night, with seven additional trophies between the Primetime and Creative Arts ceremonies, including best actor for Steven Yeun and best actress for Ali Wong as the feuding duo Danny and Amy, respectively. The next day, creator Lee Sung Jin – who personally also won for writing the pilot and directing the finale – phoned The Hollywood Reporter to talk about lessons learned as a first-time showrunner as well as what he would do with a potential (not yet officially greenlit) second season.
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
How was the rest of your night after the show ended?
