“Twin Peaks” may have ended its revival last year, but the world that David Lynch and Mark Frost created continues to live on. Such is the case with all properties with cult followings, and it may have been what inspired the Comic-Con panel Saturday night titled “Twin Peaks and the Revival of a Cult Classic.”
Taking place at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel’s Indigo Ballroom, the panel featured a fan-favorite lineup including executive producer Sabrina Sutherland, stars Kimmy Robertson (Lucy Brennan), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan), Chrysta Bell (FBI Agent Tammy Preston), Robert Broski (Woodsman), John Pirruccello (Deputy Chad Broxford), Eric Edelstein (Det. “Smiley” Fusco), Nicole Laliberte (Darya), George Griffith (Ray Monroe), Amy Shiels (Candie), and Adele Rene (Lieutenant Cynthia Knox).
Sutherland revealed that Lynch had texted her, “I got my days mixed up and I’m going to be there yesterday if not sooner. It’s slippery in here.

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series."Finally," says the One-Armed Man a.k.a. Phillip Gerard (Al Strobel) about midway through Part 16 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival, right after a certain FBI Special Agent returns to the world of the living. It's been 13 episodes since we've seen full trace of Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), though even then he wasn't entirely himself. (Being trapped for 25 years in the otherworldly Black Lodge has a way of tempering certain personality traits.) Now, however, he's "one hundred percent" (in his estimation, anyway), and there's certainly plenty of giddy pleasure to be had watching the energetic, Boy Scout-like Cooper of old take charge. But that presumes that this is the Dale Cooper of old, and it quickly becomes apparent that that's not the case.

In David Lynch, we trust. That should be what all Twin Peaks fans are thinking right now. What he and Mark Frost have given us in the 16th episode in this return is nothing short of perfect, and is sum of all of the parts that have come before it. Now next week, we have the two episodes that will hopefully cap off one of the best television shows to ever make it to the screen.
After Dougie’s (Kyle MacLachlan) encounter with the electricity outlet an old friend finally makes his return and has one destination in mind; Twin Peaks. Meanwhile Evil Coop and Richard Horne (Eamon Farren) follow co-ordinates to a rock, with dire consequences for Horne. While all this is happening, Diane (Laura Dern) finally remembers what happened at her last encounter with Cooper.

We continue right where we left off, for better and for worse.
For a while there, every episode of Twin Peaks: The Return almost felt like a non-sequitur to the one preceding it. But Part 13 picks up directly after Part 12, even—and it’s funny to say it, but this feels like a rarity—checking back in with characters who are right where we left them one episode ago.
Thankfully, it’s faster moving than that last episode, which felt mostly like a series of long conversations in rooms and featured the reintroduction of Audrey Horne by way of an over ten-minutes scene (!!!) of her arguing with her diminutive...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series.A study in contrasts. That's the best way to describe Part 11 of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks, which opens with a brief moment of doom-laden calm—three young boys playing catch happening upon the bruised and beaten but very much alive Miriam Sullivan (Sarah Jean Long)—then details, for its first half, the many ways in which the titular town, as well as the few-states-over locale of Buckhorn, South Dakota, are coming unglued. But this is dramatic incident Lynch-style, which means that the narrative rhythms are always shifting (violently, unpredictably), as if someone was continually revving a car engine into the red, but never in a calculable way. There's madness in such extremity, as there's insanity in the blood-curdling scream...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. It's worth quoting the latest (perhaps the last?) gnomic pronouncements from Margaret "The Log Lady" Lanterman (the late Catherine E. Coulson), speaking via phone to Deputy Sheriff Tommy "Hawk" Hill (Michael Horse), in full: "Hawk—electricity is humming. You hear it in the mountains and rivers. You see it dance among the seas and stars. And glowing around the moon. But in these days, the glow is dying. What will be in the darkness that remains? The Truman brothers are both true men. They are your brothers. And the others, the good ones, who have been with you. Now the circle is almost complete. Watch and listen to the dream of time and space. It all comes out now, flowing like a river. That which is and is not.

If you are a fan of Twin Peaks you’ll no doubt have already thanked David Lynch and Mark Frost in your head for bringing us season 3. At episode 10 we are now officially down the rabbit hole, but if you were looking for much progress in the main story you won’t get it here. What you do get is plenty of information that further strengthens this new world of Twin Peaks.
The key to this episode is characters, and what they are doing in this episode. Dougie (Kyle MacLachlan) is living life with Janey-e (Naomi Watts) who has found a new-found attraction to her slimmed down husband. Richard Horne (Eamon Farren) is further cementing how evil he is by terrorising his grandmother, and Gordon Cole (David Lynch) confirms something to himself about Diane (Laura Dern).

Twin Peaks‘ resurrection was announced more than two years ago, and David Lynch began rolling cameras with his huge, insane collection of actors more than a year ago, but co-creator and co-writer Mark Frost has given us the long-dead franchise’s first fresh heartbeat with The Secret History of Twin Peaks, an epistolary novel with a hook that fans can’t resist: in 2016, a mysterious lockbox containing an equally mysterious dossier that, per a letter written by Gordon Cole himself, “appears to have some relationship” to the original series’ events. What follows is hard to put into a concise form, except to say it’s ultimately what the title might suggest — and, as much as anything else, a big, fat teaser for the next chapter.

The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.
The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.
in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern,...

★☆☆☆☆ A solid central turn from Aneurin Barnard aside, Ciaran Foy's debut feature Citadel (2012) fails to impress as a hoodie horror with delusions of grandeur. Living in a tower block set against a landscape of social degeneration, happily married Tommy (Barnard) is expecting his first child with wife Joanne (Amy Shiels). Within mere minutes, we see this cheerful couple's lives destroyed as Tommy's pregnant wife is attacked by three hooded figures that stab her in the stomach with a syringe, our protagonist looking on helplessly. This unspeakable act forces Joanne into early childbirth before she falls into a coma.
This traumatic event leaves Tommy with a chronic case of agoraphobia, only exacerbated further by the reappearance of the same malevolent youths. Over-emphasising the dark and desolate surroundings of council estate life, building to which the title refers looms ominously over everything, surrounded by snow-covered streets in an area known as...

Director/writer: Ciaran Foy. Cast: Aneurin Barnard, James Cosmo, Wunmi Mosaku, and Jake Wilson and Amy Shiels. Citadel was partially funded by the Irish Film Board. Also, this is director Ciaran Foy's first film and this is also a personal script developed by Foy. Foy was attacked at the age of eighteen by a group of teenagers with a hammer. This film is a type of catharsis as Foy relives that attack through his characters and story. Thus, Citadel is a psychological journey, with the protagonist facing some of his demonic and, likely, imaginary fears. Tommy (Aneurin Barnard) is the one taking this journey, along with viewers. The action begins with Tommy witnessing an attack on his young wife, Joanne (Amy Shiels). He is helpless to intervene as the elevator in his rundown apartment building is broken. Joanne is hospitalized. Yet, she gives birth to a daughter. In a coma,...

Citadel
Written and directed by Ciaran Foy
Ireland/UK, 2012
Every time you walk down a dark alleyway, you’ve felt it. Every time you’ve waited for the bus late at night, you’ve felt it too. Every unsolicited knock on the door, tap on your shoulder, distant chorus of laughter, and sudden hush of silence, you’ve felt that feeling course through your body: that intrinsic and deep-seated fear of the unknown and the unseen. In an urban setting, these feelings are ever-present and persistent, and in Ciaran Foy’s Citadel, they’re expertly amplified and actualized.
The story follows a man named Tommy (Aneurin Barnard), a single father inflicted with a severe case of agoraphobia after his wife (Amy Shiels), who was pregnant at the time, was attacked and killed by a gang of hooded delinquents. At his wife’s funeral, the priest (James Cosmo) warns Tommy that...

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, or as the case may be with Citadel, a group of violent, marauding child-demons is exactly that. Cirian Foy's first feature film is nearly everything a horror film should be: creepy, atmospheric, and packed full of quality scares that run the gamut from good old fashioned "bump in the night" terror to something a little more lingeringly disturbing. Unfortunately, the two halves of Citadel both feel like very different but nonetheless high-quality works of art, stitched together in a fashion that doesn't quite hide the seams. The film begins with Tommy (Aneurin Barnard) and his pregnant wife Joanne (Amy Shiels) preparing to leave their home in a run-down housing project. Just as they are about to take their...

After graduating from the National Film School of Ireland, Dublin-based filmmaker Ciarán Foy plied his trade directing a handful of shorts (including the larkish techno-driven Scumbot, in which a radio-controlled hooligan goes berserk and ultimately turns on his mates), finally winning a bounty of awards for his four-and-a-half-minute malicious-pixie tale The Faeries of Blackheath Woods. Encouraged by the response, Foy set to work in 2007 on a script based on a traumatic personal experience it had taken him years to shake: At age 18, he was randomly assaulted by a gang of toughs near his council flat and viciously threatened with a used hypodermic needle. After the incident, he suffered from acute agoraphobia, a condition he eventually conquered through counseling and lots of emotional support from his future wife, then a fellow college student. All of which provided grist for his debut feature, Citadel, which premiered at the 2012 South by Southwest Film...

They see your fear! Psychological horror? Some strange mix of agoraphobia and creepy children? Or simply – an upcoming Irish horror movie Citadel? Whatever, really, the thing is that we finally have an official featurette to share with you, and I’m sure you’re going to love this (let’s be honest – pretty weird) story which comes from writer & director Ciaran Foy.
Citadel centers on a guy named Tommy Cowley who lives a quiet life (it all starts with the normal life!) in a decaying apartment complex with his highly pregnant wife.
But one day, they are attacked by a group of hooded young thugs, and after a shocking act of violence, Tommy is left to raise his newborn daughter alone.
Shaken by the events that he’s developed extreme agoraphobia, Tommy alternates days hiding out indoors in his new flat from imagined threats and intense therapy sessions aimed at bringing him back to normalcy.

Urban Fortress: Foy’s Debut Aggravated Mix of Thrills and Awkward Social Commentary
Creepy kids are in again, it seems, a motif making the rounds in several new releases this year alone, including Sinister, and then a flaccid remake of Spanish evil kid classic, Who Could Kill a Child?, the needless Mexican rip-off, Come Out and Play. And now we get an urban, Irish angle with Ciaran Foy’s moody debut, Citadel, a nicely packaged product, though one that shouldn’t be examined too closely.
We’re thrust into a nightmarish world almost immediately, briefly watching Tommy (Aneurin Barnard) and his pregnant girlfriend Joanne (Amy Shiels) as they prepare to move out of their condemned high rise. She waits for him as he brings some belongings outside, but on his way back up the elevator, the door gets stuck, and he witness a group of hooded children brutally beat his wife into unconsciousness.
