One notable project will be transferred from Dceu into the newly established Dcu, and that’s ‘Peacemaker.’ ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 was already confirmed to be in development when Gunn clarified that the show will be canon to the Dcu and that he will make it work in a way that is not confusing for the fans at all, and that the transition between Dceu and Dcu at least as far as ‘Peacemaker’ is concerned will be as smooth as possible.
Now, Gunn went one step further by connecting the upcoming ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 with a highly-awaited animated project ‘Creature Commandos’ that’s supposed to be released this year.
Frank Grillo was cast as Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, after already being confirmed to voice the character for the animated show. This aligns with what Gunn said back when he was presenting the Dcu, that he would like for the voice actors...

A big change is happening as ‘Peacemaker’ moves from Dceu to the new Dcu. Season 2 is in the works and will be part of Dcu canon. Gunn assures fans the shift won’t be confusing and aims for a smooth transition between Dceu and Dcu, especially for ‘Peacemaker’.
Now, Gunn takes it a step further by linking the forthcoming ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 with the much-anticipated animated project ‘Creature Commandos,’ set for release this year.
Frank Grillo has been chosen to portray Rick Flag Sr. in ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2, following his prior confirmation to voice the character in the animated series. This mirrors Gunn’s earlier statement during the Dcu presentation, expressing his desire for voice actors to also appear in live-action roles.
Rick Flag Sr. was once the leader of the Suicide Squadron during WWII. This group, made up of criminals, was sent on perilous missions. Flag Sr. instilled discipline in them and led them successfully.

Marvel actor and all-around badass Frank Grillo is trading his crossbones for stars and stripes after joining the cast of Peacemaker Season 2 for DC. Grillo is lacing up his boots to play Rick Flag Sr. for the sophomore season of James Gunn’s superhero series, starring John Cena as Christopher “Chris” Smith, aka Peacemaker. Rick Flag Sr. is the father of Rick Flag Jr., played by Joel Kinnaman in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad and Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Cena’s Peacemaker killed Rick Flag Jr. in The Suicide Squad, leading me to think it’s time for revenge.
Before Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. appears in Peacemaker Season 2, he’ll debut in animated form in the upcoming Max series Creature Commandos. The monster-centric animated series revolves around a black ops team working for Viola Davis’s Amanda Waller.

Frank Grillo was sorely underutilised in the MCU. After first playing Brock Rumlow for a memorable supporting turn in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he returned as Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War...and immediately died.
The actor got a cameo in Avengers: Endgame and has lent his voice to What If...?, but it's looking like he'll have much more to do in the Dcu.
After being cast as Rick Flag Sr. in DC Studios' animated Creature Commandos, it's been confirmed today that Grillo will make the leap to live-action and reprise the role in Peacemaker season 2.
"Pleased to announce the great [Frank Grillo] will be reprising the role of Rick Flag, Sr - the role he’ll first play in animated form in 'Creature Commando's - throughout Season 2 of 'Peacemaker,'" DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn said on Instagram. "Christopher Smith and Rick Sr have a little unfinished business to take care of.

Captain America and Purge star Frank Grillo will lend his voice to the second season of James Gunn’s Peacemaker action comedy series tied to the DC universe.
On Friday, Gunn, in an Instagram post, announced Grillo was joining the cast in the role of Rick Flag Sr. for the next cycle of the original Max series. Among DC characters, Flag Sr. led the first Suicide Squad, or Task Force X. His son, Rick Flag Jr., is the current leader of the Suicide Squad.
Grillo in Peacemaker will voice Rick Flag as an animated character as part of “Creature Commandos” during the second season. “Christopher Smith and Rick Sr have a little unfinished business to take care of…,” Gunn teased in the social media post that included a photo of himself with Grillo.

Frank Grillo knows what he wants.
The erstwhile Crossbones of the MCU has crafted a niche for himself as a contemporary Charles Bronson over the last decade, parlaying mainstream buzz from projects like “The Purge 2” and Mma drama series “Warrior” into a string of superior indie action movies — even if he himself shies away from Bronson comparisons when speaking about his career.
“Not that I’m comparing myself to Charles Bronson, because I couldn’t,” Grillo told IndieWire during a recent interview over Zoom, adding with a laugh, “Charles Bronson never took his shirt off on a soap opera.”
With respect to Grillo, Bronson simply didn’t have the same range. Grillo emerged from a three-year run on “Guiding Light” in the late ’90s to a decade as a working actor before landing a juicy supporting role in the Liam Neeson-starring “The Grey.” Then came 2014 and his role...

Chapter One of James Gunn's new cinematic DC Comics universe is titled "Gods and Monsters." This phrase goes back to a line of dialogue from Dr. Septimus Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) in James Whale's "Bride of Frankenstein." How fitting then that "Gods and Monsters" kicks off with a Frankenstein-inspired animated TV series: "Creature Commandos."
The premise is simple: A World War II comic in the vein of Marvel's "Sergeant Fury and his Howling Commandos" but with Universal Horror monsters. The original line-up was Lieutenant Matthew Shrieve (a normal human team leader), Sergeant Vincent Velcoro (a vampire), Private Lucky Taylor (a Frankenstein-ian homunculus), Private Warren Griffith (a werewolf), and team medic Dr. Myrra Rhodes (a Medusa-esque Gorgon).
The team was created by legendary writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Pat Broderick; the Creature Commandos debuted in 1980's "Weird War Tales" #93. Now, an updated version of the team will make it...

“The Purge” star Frank Grillo is set to play the Dcu’s Rick Flag Sr in the upcoming “Creature Commandos.”
The animated TV series written by James Gunn will premiere in 2024.
“Creature Commandos” kicks off the Dcu and is part of “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters,” which is based on the comic property of the same name that brought vampires, werewolves and zombies into the DC universe. It’s already in production, and Gunn revealed that in this unified Dcu, “animation will lead into live-action and will lead back into animation again,” noting that any project that’s animated could also get a live-action version and vice versa. Confirmed characters include Weasel from “The Suicide Squad” (played by Sean Gunn), with Gunn revealing that they’re casting the voice actors to also play the same character in live-action down the road.

One of the most impressive signs of the MCU’s might occurred early in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As Cap and Black Widow make their way through a ship held captive by pirates, they’re stopped by the ring leader: Batroc the Leaper. To comic book fans, Batroc was one of the goofier characters in Cap’s rogues gallery, a Frenchman straight out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, endowed with the power of jumping really well. But in The Winter Soldier, Batroc was played by UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre, who proceeded to have a really cool action sequence with Cap.
“If that’s what the MCU can do with Batroc, imagine what they’ll do with Crossbones?” we all thought. Introduced in Captain America #359 as the Red Skull’s enforcer during writer Mark Gruenwald’s legendary run, Crossbones quickly established himself as a formidable counter to Cap,...

This review contains spoilers for Marvel’s What If…? episode 7.
In episode 7 of Marvel’s What If…?, ‘What If… Thor Were an Only Child?’, we get to find out what would have happened if Odin had decided to return the wee babby Loki to his Frost Giant family instead of keeping him, and Thor had grown up believing he was an only child. I’m phrasing it that way because, y’know, Hela still exists. Lest we forget her majesty.
It’s a fun, fluffy episode that ends with a terrific cliffhanger that seems to set up the finale of this consistently entertaining animated series, and gives us plenty to talk about until it arrives. I’m sure they’ll find a way to kill Tony Stark at least one more time before it does.

Among this overwhelming tidal wave of Disney project news that consumed us all Thursday night, we got to see the new trailer for Loki, which will be hitting Disney+ this coming May. As shown, this Loki isn’t the one who got choked to death in the opening moments of Avengers: Infinity War, but the Loki appearing during the Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame. After the events of the first Avengers went awry, that version of Loki was able to sneak away with the Tesseract and create a tangent universe.
And now…he’s stuck running suicide missions with the Time Variance Authority. What a way for a god to spend his days.
Getting away from Tom Hiddleston, the trailer also makes everyone realize, “Wait, is this Owen Wilson’s first time in one of these? How has it taken so long for Owen Wilson to get a role in a Marvel movie?...

Marvel’s Loki trailer is finally here, and it gives us more obscure Marvel continuity weirdness than we could have possibly hoped for. Right from the outset, we learn that Loki is a prisoner of the Time Variance Authority, an obscure group first introduced in the pages of Thor comics of the 1980s.
But don’t let us spoil it for you…take a look at this trailer first, and then we’ll get into the history of the Tva.
The Tva was introduced in the legendary Walt Simonson Thor run back in 1986. In Thor #372, an officer from the distant future named Justice Peace showed up in the present to work with Thor in preventing a killer from unleashing a terrible outbreak. Basically, 12 Monkeys only Thor’s there, so the good guys win.
While the focus of the issue is Justice Peace’s shabby “Judge Dredd meets Orion meets a bad cosplayer” appearance,...
