I haven’t been this pleasantly surprised since that time I woke up on a snow-bank, nuzzled comfortably between your Mom and that Yeti… twice.
I will start out by shamefully admitting that I have not played any of the Silent Hill games. However, I know that Konami (the dudes that made Contra) is/are awesome and anything they’re involved in/with has my seal of approval. I know they were Heavily involved with the making of the first film that came out in ’06.
So, in relation to the first film, I think Revelation has equal or greater value. It works well as a stand-alone film and as a sequel. It gives enough of the back-story of Pt.

It’s been six years since we’ve heard anything from the horrors in Silent Hill, but this weekend Silent Hill: Revelation 3D hits theaters. Written and directed by Michael J. Bassett, it tells the continuing story of Sharon (who goes by the fake name Heather in this installment) and her father who are on the run from the residents of Silent Hill that have haunted them since Sharon disappeared in the first film. Sean Bean returns as dad Harry Mason while the now eighteen-year-old Heather is played by Adelaide Clemens.

Wow! We are posting a lot of news this week for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D and now we have kind of a "State of the Movie Address" from director Michael J. Bassett from his blog. This movie is definitely shaping up to be bigger and badder than the first and here's hoping I'm right! Anyway in this latest entry, Bassett addresses the film's current status, he also talks about all of the behind-the-scenes sneak peeks we've been getting from the set and he gets in fan boy mode about working with Malcolm McDowell and Sean Bean. Production is wide-ass open in Toronto and I hope the cool stuff keeps leaking out!
Anyway, just a very quick post to say it’s all going pretty well. It continues to be a struggle to physically make the movie but the team is holding strong and I think you’re going to really...

For the most part, I really dig Silent Hill. Kind of goes without saying that it's the best video game adaptation out there, but it's also a pretty good movie. The further we got away from it, it seemed less likely that we would ever see a sequel so I'm pretty happy to report on every piece of Silent Hill 2 news out there. I'm just glad to know it's on the way.
There isn't much to say today, but director Michael J. Bassett did update his blog yesterday, offering some little tidbits about this awaited sequel.

Running a bit of information control from his blog, Michael J. Bassett took the time out to provide an update from the set of Silent Hill: Revelations . He touches on both his cast and the recent photo leaks. Read on. Last week we had Malcolm McDowell in for a little while to play Leonard Wolf. Clearly when we meet him he.s not in his monstrous form but your going to get a kick out of why he.s there and what he does. It was a huge thrill getting Malcolm on the show. He regaled us with fabulous stories and was a treat to work with. Days like those, no matter how long and intense, are always memorable. Sean Bean is back for the rest of his work. Having a good time working with him. He.s a typically down to earth and wryly humorous northerner. A straight talker and great.

As has become standard, more cast has been announced while another new photo has been released for writer/director Michael J. Bassett's horror sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D.
With the lead actors Adelaide Clemens (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and British actor Kit Harington (HBO's Game of Thrones) already set, Revelation announced that Silent Hill actors Radha Mitchell and Deborah Kara Unger had joined the cast last month. Fellow Silent Hill actor Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring) had already been cast. [1] The Silent Hill sequel, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, is shooting right now in Toronto, and keeps adding cast members as it does. Director Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane) already had Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington starring, with Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and Deborah Kara Unger reprising [2] their Silent Hill roles in some unknown capacity. Now a press release announces that the film also boasts Carrie-Ann Moss as Claudia Wolf and Malcolm McDowell as Leonard Wolf. In the video game Silent Hill 3, Claudia is a major character (modeled to look like Julianne Moore, actually) who sets a good chunk of the plot in motion, and isn't exactly a passive or sane presence. Read more about her here [3] (and about her father Leonard here [4]) but be warned of possible spoilers for the film. The header image for this article, by the way, is a new still of Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harinton in the film,...

We already know that Adelaide Clemens is starring as heroine Heather Mason, and now Silent Hill: Revelation looks to have its principal villains in the forms of Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell.Moss will be playing Claudia Wolf, who in the film's source game Silent Hill 3 is the priestess of the reality-shifting Silent Hill cult, planning to midwife an evil god using Heather as the mother. McDowell's role is Leonard Wolf, Claudia's father, who in the game doesn't exactly approve of his daughter, but is also, to put it mildly, less-than-helpful to Heather and her cause...Producer Samuel Hadida says, "Carrie has displayed her enormous talent across all genres from The Matrix to Memento, and we are delighted for her to join the world of Silent Hill." Malcolm McDowell And Carrie-Anne Moss Join Silent Hill: Revelation
Latino Review is reporting that the next Silent Hill film, Silent Hill: Revelation has added two more cast members, Malcolm McDowell and Carrie-Anne Moss. Moss and McDowell will join a less than impressive cast that includes Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and Deborah Kara Unger. With the addition of Moss and McDowell, things are staring to slowly look up but I still don't have much faith in the film, especially because I didn't enjoy the first. Based on the survival horror videogame series from publisher Konami, the film will have Moss playing Claudia Wolf, the antagonist from Silent Hill 3 and McDowell will play Claudia's father, Leonard Wolf, a member of the cult that plagues Silent Hill, the Order.

Two new names are lining up for visceral disembowelings in the dark as Michael J. Bassett’s horror sequel Silent Hill: Revelation 3D gets underway in Toronto.
Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell are joining returning survivors from the first film Sean Bean and Radha Mitchell, and will play Claudia and Leonard Wolf (presumably father and daughter). Other newcomers Adelaide Clements and Kit Harington complete the roster and there’s a new picture down below for you all.
The film series, adapated from the Konami video games, are a subtle alternative to the highly stylized violence and dizzingly visual blur of the Resident Evil films and while the first film broke no moulds nor ignited any box office it was a solid affair and the sequel should be more of the same – certainly the 3D aspect will be interesting when set against the tiresome poking of the fourth Resy Evil flick.

Davis Films has released a first look new photo from Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, which features stars Adelaide Clemens and Kit Harington. The film is being directed by Michael J. Bassett in his first American feature film as a helmer. Bassett garnered recent fame with his Solomon Kane adaptation back 2009. He is an extremely talented filmmaker which is why I am looking forward to his take on the Silent Hill universe.
The studio also announced that Carrie-Anne Moss and Malcolm McDowell have joined the cast of this 3D thriller, which is currently shooting in Toronto.

The sequel to 2006's 'Silent Hill' from director Christophe Gans, 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' has added two acting veterans to its cast: Carrie-Anne Moss, who is probably best known as playing Trinity in the 'Matrix' series, and Malcolm McDowell, a man who is no stranger to horror, having played an integral role in both of director Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' films.Like its predecessor, 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D' is based on the long-running survival horror video game series from publisher, Konami. Moss is to play Claudia Wolf, the antagonist of the video game, 'Silent Hill 3.' She's a manipulative religious fanatic, sounding similar to Christabella (Alice Krige) from the first 'Silent Hill' movie. McDowell will be playing Claudia's father, Leonard Wolf, a man who in the games abused his daughter and belonged to the cult that plagues the town of Silent Hill,...

Sony Pictures is currently working on the sequel to the Silent Hill movie, and while they've been filming, they just issued this press release revealing that two new cast members were coming aboard the project, and they provided an all new official picture from the film.

I've said it before and I'll says it again: I enjoyed Christophe Gans' Silent Hill film. It was a film dripping in spooky atmospherics and general strangeness. When the sequel was first announced many would probably have dismissed it as a cheap cash-in on a known title. It's not like the original was a box office hit. Alas, it has its fans.
