There’s an epidemic sweeping the world, and Titan Tower is afflicted as much as anywhere else. Over the last few months, it’s as if various wrestling personalities and affiliated staff have discovered for the first time a) what online trolling is, and b) how to block it.
Like enthusiastic evangelists, fervent anti-bullying campaigners like John Layfield and Taz are spreading the word about these toxic creatures called ‘trolls’ and the amazing invention of the ‘block’ button. No longer does Joey Styles have to sit and suffer the slings and arrows of sarcastic wrestling fans telling him that WWE online polls are worked, when he can simply fire off a sarcastic tweet and shout Blocked! into the aether. Mauro Ranallo, the new Smackdown announcer, has taken to using the hashtag #BLOCKParty, which is actually quite funny.
Of course, some of us are just innocent victims of the anti-troll crusades.

This week just passed was looking like being being fairly slow for wrestling news, and I was seriously considering poking Joey Styles on Twitter to see if I could get him to keep saying stupid things about the Internet. That is, until rumours began flying around that A.J. Styles, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson and Shinsuke Nakamura had all given notice to Njpw management of their intention to leave the company. If so, all indications are that they would have signed with WWE.
The Wrestling Observer reports that if the rumours are true, the new signings would bypass Nxt and debut on the main roster. That would be the first time that that’s happened since Nxt became a proper thing – even established stars like Samoa Joe haven’t been afforded that kind of respect. Of course, it could all be horse puckey, as wrestling rumours often are. Even...

The art of the pro wrestling announcer has changed incredibly over the years. Previously, commentators were there solely to call the action, much like those announcing on real-life sports do. As things progressed, the people behind the microphone had a responsibility to sell stories to the viewing public, enabling them to to emotionally invest in the matches and characters they were supposed to.
Now, wrestling announcers often have to multi-task like crazy. It’s not uncommon for a pro wrestling commentary team to go from shilling a sponsor’s product, then quickly follow that up with some social media updates, all before finally focusing on the match people are about to see presented. It’s a job which requires supreme sharpness, and an uncanny ability to think on one’s feet.

Former Ecw commentator Joey Styles took to his Twitter account to announce that he will be calling the Steve Austin vs. Mikey Whipwreck match for the Ecw World Heavyweight Championship in WWE 2K16’s Stone Cold mode.
The news was then followed by a video posted on 2K Dev’s Youtube channel.
Styles couldn’t hide his delight at being included in the featured mode;
“I’M Game! I’m calling @SteveAustinBSR vs #MikeyWhipwreck‘s Ecw Championship Match at the Arena in @WWEGames @2K16!”

The funeral for Dusty Rhodes was held today in Tampa, Florida and it was a private ceremony that was attended by family and friends, many of whom are current WWE employees.
His youngest son Cody Runnels (aka WWE’s Stardust) shared a eulogy that he wrote for the service. Since it was a private ceremony there were no fans allowed, but since he shared it on Twitter he wants the world to read his thoughts about his late father who meant so much to so many people.

More often than not, people involved in the pro wrestling industry tend to get a false sense of toughness. Now, backing up just a little, there’s an argument to be made that simply being involved in such a legitimately arduous business requires at least some degree of mental and physical strength, but the fact that wrestling is far more exciting when performers co-operate (as opposed to going into business for themselves) cannot be ignored.
John Bradshaw Layfield – once considered one of the WWF/WWE’s roughest and toughest – had his reputation taken down a notch or two by an extremely unlikely source. Throwing his weight around, Layfield was knocked on his ass by the diminutive announcer, Joey Styles, during a backstage confrontation several years ago, putting paid to his supposed toughness.
Contrast that with the guts and pain tolerance that Triple H showed in 2001, managing to finish...

WWE continue with their volume releases of Ecw history with the third Ecw Unreleased release, hosted by Joey Styles, Stevie Richards and The Blue Meanie. I recall Ecw fondly in many ways, and it is fun to go back and look at some of the matches, wrestlers and storylines that made the grungy extreme promotion an underground (and eventually more than that) hit. With comments and introductions from the three hosts, this is a collection of matches and angles that will appeal, like the previous sets, to Ecw fans, and people looking to discover the history of hardcore.
There are some blinders in here, I have to say. But, with wrestlers like Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero, Cactus “Mick Foley” Jack, Lance Storm, Chris Jericho, Terry Funk and others, it’s easy to see why there is a high level of quality in some of the matches on offer. Ecw provided...

The WWE Network is running as normal and was only down briefly this week due to technical difficulties. There had been some speculation as to what had caused a brief outage on Wednesday night, with Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio saying that one rumour was a hacking.
That rumour was false. The WWE Network was not hacked. This was just a brief outage, which can be normal for services of this type. Technical difficulties are sometimes unavoidable and this was in no way a security breach.
Fans will be glad to see the Network back running as normal. This is Ecw Week and the content has been a brilliant journey through the land of Extreme. It all started with the brand new ‘Ecw Exposed’ show on Monday night, in which Paul Heyman and Joey Styles gave an insightful explanation of Ecw’s history. Several old Ecw shows...

For the last couple of years there’s been one performer in the WWE who has been supremely entertaining and has guaranteed a rousing reception from crowds all over the world. No, I’m not talking about Cm Punk, or John Cena, or even Daniel Bryan. I’m talking about Paul Heyman.
Currently milking his king heel status ever since Brock Lesnar ended the Undertaker’s streak at Wrestlemania XXX, a fact that he has mentioned, oh, only every single time he’s appeared live or on television since, Heyman continues to prove just way so many people consider him not only to be a great manager, but quite possibly the greatest manager that the wrestling industry has ever seen.

Michael Cole. The hatred I possess for this man knows no bounds and continues to grow with every week he is on air. May the powers that be prevent me from taking control of a nuclear arsenal in the near future. Because at that rate, I should be just about ready to nuke the entire planet and commit mass genocide of the human race just to get his nasal, whiny little voice off the airwaves for good.
As a child, teen and a man in his 20s I have grown up with the ever changing face of the WWE broadcast team and enjoyed wonderful, entertaining and riveting banter from the likes of Jesse “the Body” Ventura, Lord Alfred Hayes (a personal favourite), Bobby “the Brain” Heenan, Gorilla Monsoon, the “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “Mean” Gene Okerlund, Jim Ross, Jerry “the King” Lawler, Paul Heyman, Joey Styles and even the man himself,...

Following the success of the first volume of Ecw Unreleased, the WWE delves even deeper into the Ecw archives, delivering even more hardcore action once again hosted by the voice of Ecw, Joey Styles, who returns to call the action on over 7 hours of previously unreleased matches with a little help from Ecw Original Tommy Dreamer.
Featuring Ecw stalwarts to WWE Legends’ stints on the hardcore circuit, this brand-new compilation contains matches such as the first Ecw battle between Extreme Originals Tommy Dreamer and Tazz; WWE Hall of Famers Cactus Jack (Mick Foley) & Terry Funk squaring off; aerial warfare between Chris Jericho and Sabu; matches for the Ecw Championship, Japanese death matches and Mexican lucha libre – all in the Ecw’s inimitable style…

In life, sometimes when you chase a dream you have to take a leap of faith. This jump is not without its consequences, gaining you many bruises and scars along the way. But if you put passion and love in everything you do you could transcend anything you thought possible and make an impact in the world. These words personify one of the most iconic wrestlers in the modern era. A guy that is the best-selling author, philanthropist, comedian, world champion and sock puppet aficionado Mick Foley. In the latest WWE DVD release, entitled “For All Mankind: the Life and Career of Mick Foley” they attempt to get a more in-depth look at the man behind the madness. Personally I think it’s much like the subject it follows it’s pretty good.

Mick Foley broke into sports-entertainment in 1983 shortly after a fateful trip to see his idol Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka inspired him to pursue his dream. Now, 30 years, 3 personas, 3 WWE Championships, multiple New York Times best sellers and countless bumps and cheap pops later, the WWE brings Mick Foley’s story to DVD and Blu-ray with For All Mankind: The Life & Career Of Mick Foley.
Let’s get this out of the way first. I don’t think there’s a single wrestling fan out there who doesn’t love Mick Foley. The man has worked his mind and his body hard to give wrestling fans across the globe what they want – damn good, often one-of-a-kind, matches may with the extra special Wtf factor. Foley’s story has been told many times before, from the promos he cut as Mankind in the WWE to his autobiographies. But now friends, family, peers and...

The great hardcore legend and former WWE Champion, Rob Van Dam, was seen in attendance of WWE’s Hall of Fame last night in Madison Square Garden. WWE has posted a article about his appearance and he told them:
“I’m here to support my boy Booker T. [It's great] seeing a lot of guys I haven’t seen since I left.”
This marks Van Dam’s first WWE appearance since his surprise, one-night only entrance for the 2009 edition of the Royal Rumble. He would later sign with Tna and become X-Division champion, before his contract would expire back in March and depart the company.
The website also questioned him on if he has plans of returning to WWE. He replied:
“There’s always a chance.”
In another interview, the same question was again and Rvd had this to say:
“The reason that I’ve been really quiet as far as my (Tna) contract goes,...

During the Six-Pack Challenge main event on last night’s WWE Raw SuperShow, a spot between R-Truth and The Miz was botched, leaving R-Truth being assisted to the back and forced out of the match early. The moment occurred when R-Truth attempted an over-the-top-rope somersault plancha onto The Miz but he failed to stop his fall being broken. R-Truth landed on his back onto the matted floor, causing his head to whip and it looked like he was seriously injured.
During the commercial break, R-Truth was led backstage and when the show returned the announce team informed that the medical staff said he was unable to continue competing.
Following last night’s Raw, Joey Styles got on Twitter and said R-Truth was fine and thankfully did not suffer any injuries.
He wrote, “Breaking News! Somehow, @RonKillings is Ok and has no injuries after flipping over the top rope, missing @MikeTheMiz and hitting the floor.

WWE have unveiled their new Network logo last night during the latest episode of Nxt online. You can see the logo above.
WWE’s Joey Styles teased on Twitter that the new logo could actually be part of a new logo for the WWE as a whole and not just the forthcoming network. This would back up some rumours in August last year that the company were considering debuting a new overall logo but obviously none of this is confirmed. There has also been talk from fans at the recent WWE European tour that a new logo had been debuted but it’s not something I personally witnessed at the Newcastle event.
WWE have used the scratch logo since the beginning of the attitude era, just changing it from the WWF logo to WWE when they had to change the company name in 2002.
