Independent financier and production company Kerry Kimmel and Pollack has teamed with Eric Thompson's Vigilante Entertainment to acquire feature film and TV rights to Gregg Olsen's young adult series Empty Coffin, reports Variety. Kk&P and Vigilante will co-finance and co-produce the first title in the series, "Envy," "a paranormal thriller that follows twin sisters Hayley and Taylor Ryan as they try to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of their friend. The girls use their talents to solve the crime and in the process, uncover the origin of their own powers." Kk&P's CEO Michael Pollack and prexy Mark Morgan ("The Twilight Saga") will produce with Eric Thompson, Brett Hudson and Kami Garcia. "The material is sharp, funny and eerie," said Thompson, who just produced the indie horror pic Rites of Spring. "It's edgy with protagonists who are modern day teen sleuths with a big family secret." Production...

Bestselling 'young adult' author Gregg Olsen has sold the movie rights to his novel series "Empty Coffin" to Kerry Kimmel & Pollack and Eric Thompson's Vigilante Entertainment.
Kerry Kimmel & Pollack's CEO, Michael Pollak ("Black Forest") and president Mark Morgan ("Twilight") will produce with Eric Thompson ("Rites of Spring"), Brett Hudson and Kami Garcia.
The first book in the series is "Envy" :
"...evil lurks in the Pacific Northwest. Dubbed by locals as 'Empty Coffin', the quaint town of 'Port Gamble' has secrets. Not everything is as great as it looks in the postcards. Historic homes sit side-by-side in a place overshadowed by tragedy where everyone seemingly knows everyone. The graveyard along the waterfront and an ominous bridge connecting Port Gamble to the rest of the world are a constant reminder that death is just a doorstep away.

In a touching post on his Tumblr, "Glee" and "Step Up" star Harry Shum Jr. recounts his personal history with Steve Jobs -- he was one of the silhouettes in the first iPod commercials! -- proving that the genius innovator's legacy still lives on.
Marion Cotillard is practicing to play a whale trainer in her next movie, "Rust and Bone," and she definitely looked the part at Marineland in France. She donned a wetsuit and fed fish to the whale, and you can see the pictures on PopSugar.

Wow, Twilight producers are really obsessed with death right now. After reporting that producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen are working on the teen ghost story In the Flesh for Summit, I now see that Mark Morgan, who is now president of indie production company Kerry Kimmel & Pollack, will work on White Crow. Based on the Edgar Allan Poe Award-winning novel, "White Crow" is about a 16-year old who moves to a "sleepy seaside town with a deadly past and discovers what's the other side of death." Production starts next year in the U.K. "White Crow" was also nominated for the Carnegie Medal and won the Guardian's Children's Book Prize.

Dante Tomaselli's 'Torture Chamber' has finally wrapped and has edged into it's post-production stages. Website Cathode Ray Misson managed to grab a few words with the director about the movie which managed to shoot in just 19 days. '19 days. 19 never-ending days...or nights...or mornings. After a while I had no idea what time it was. Filming was intense, sometimes painful, shooting for hours on end in mines and darkened underground tunnels, constantly fighting against the clock. I loved every minute of it. I am electrified now. As you know, as everyone knows, I've been foaming-at-the-mouth to create another movie. It's never easy to get to the point of actually doing it. I am very pleased with the footage. It's chock full of scare sequences. Torture Chamber has a new horrific energy, more serious and brutal, more shadowy, tactile and frightening.' 'Torture Chamber' is...

The aliens from Sony's "District 9" scored big during The Hollywood Reporter's 39th annual Key Art Awards.
Honoring the best in movie marketing, Friday's event at Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles saw "District 9" take home 11 awards, including the best-in-show prize for its integrating marketing campaigning as well as three other best-in-show laurels for its outdoor advertising (built around its "Bus Stop for Humans Bus Shelter"), TV spots and digital campaign.
The awards ceremony culminated with Sylvester Stallone receiving the Visionary Award, given annually to a filmmaker who inspires movie marketers.
"At the end of the day, there is no question that Sylvester Stallone delivers great product," THR publisher Lori Burgess said before calling Stallone to the candlelit stage at what once was the altar of the former St. Vibiana Roman Catholic cathedral, which has been converted to a party space. "He's put his stamp on film like very few people of his generation.

24-year-old actor Kellan Lutz recently shared his preparation to reprise his role as vampire Emmett Cullen on highly anticipated movie "The Twilight Saga's New Moon". "I find it easy to get in the role; Emmett is the perfect match for me," he said in an interview with Social Life magazine.
"I prepared a lot by delving into the back-story for my character, Emmett, that I created while shooting the first movie so I just picked up that same notebook again for 'New Moon' and added a little more to what I thought embodied this character," Lutz continued. "I do love creating a back-story for characters; it helps you transform into the role and it makes it yours."
In further interview, Lutz also talked about the atmosphere at "New Moon" set when he and his co-stars filmed the movie. "'New Moon' was a very relaxed film to work on and it...
