Restored 1976 doc of Connolly’s tour of Ireland shows that, despite his bombastic stage presence, he is impeccably polite. But his naughtier material hasn’t aged well
Here is a 70s time capsule as pungent as a brimming pub ashtray. Restored and rereleased, Big Banana Feet is the 1976 documentary about Billy Connolly’s live shows in Dublin and Belfast the year before, just after his appearance on the BBC’s Parkinson show made him a star virtually overnight, and allowed his legions of new fans to hear him live and unexpurgated.
Billy and his hangdog entourage – all looking like a very downbeat version of the Bay City Rollers – travel to Dublin then to Belfast by private plane, but aside from that, everything looks very non-luxury. The backstage areas have the air of a scout hut, and there don’t seem to be any riders with Jack Daniel’s, cocaine, only-green-coloured M&Ms,...

Shaboozey is a newcomer who is acheiving major success on the country music charts with his new song “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”
The 28-year-old singer just hit #1 on the Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart. He and Beyonce made history as the first two black artists to lead the chart with back-to-back #1 songs.
Shaboozey actually joined Beyonce on her Cowboy Carter tracks “Spaghetti” and “Sweet Honey Buckiin.”
In the chorus of his new song, Shaboozey sings, “Someone pour me up a double shot of whiskey (A double shot of whiskey) / They know me and Jack Daniel’s got a history (We go way back) / There’s a party downtown, near 5th Street / Everybody at the bar gettin’ tipsy (Woo).”
If you didn’t know, Shaboozey‘s new single interpolates J-Kwon‘s hit song “Tipsy” and the rapper is sharing his thoughts on the song.

Matthew Lillard knows the power of fandoms.
He’s been surrounded by them for decades, having played iconic characters in everything from Scream to Scooby-Doo to Five Nights at Freddy’s, and now his liquor company Find Familiar Spirits is partying up with Critical Role to launch a limited-edition collectible liquor based on their first campaign, Vox Machina.
The liquor, Sandkheg’s Hide, comes straight from episode 65 of the campaign, where Travis Willingham‘s character Grog buys a couple bottles and promptly gets the gang smashed.
In Critical Role’s Dungeons & Dragons universe, Sandkheg’s Hide is secreted by giant insectoids. But Irl, Find Familiar Spirits’ master blender Ale Ochoa made the drink into a bourbon with notes of baked apple, brown spice, shortbread cookies, oak, herbs, dried red fruit, and “a hint of smoke.”
Each bottle ($99) also comes with a 44-page booklet with an original, canon short story written by Jasmine Bhullar,...

The Shining, directed by the legendary Stanley Kubrick, stands as a pinnacle of cinematic horror. Adapted from Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the chilling film takes audiences deep into the eerie halls of the Overlook Hotel, where isolation and supernatural forces converge to create a chilling ghost story like no other. The film’s unforgettable imagery, from the twins in the corridor to the ominous room 237, has etched itself into the annals of horror history. Kubrick’s meticulous direction, combined with Jack Nicholson’s iconic performance, makes The Shining a must-watch for any film enthusiast, especially those drawn to the suspense and psychological depth of haunted hotel stories.
And while you’re chilling your bones with a visit to one of horror’s most iconic haunted hotels, why not sip on something wicked?

Jack Daniel’s may be what unites a divided nation — at least when it comes to the U.S. Supreme Court. In a unanimous ruling handed down Thursday, the high court sided with the Tennessee whiskey maker in a trademark fight over a “Bad Spaniels” dog toy.
“This case is about dog toys and whiskey, two items seldom appearing in the same sentence,” writes Justice Elena Kagan in the option. “Respondent VIP Products makes a squeaky, chewable dog toy designed to look like a bottle of Jack Daniel’s whiskey. But not entirely. On the toy, for example, the words ‘Jack Daniel’s’ become ‘Bad Spaniels.’ And ‘Old No. 7 Brand Tennessee Sour Mash Whiskey’ turns into ‘The Old No. 2 On Your Tennessee Carpet.'”
Jack Daniel’s wasn’t amused with the poop joke and when VIP Products refused to stop selling the squeakers the fight moved to the courts.

Country artist Travis Tritt has become the latest right-wing musician to denounce Anheuser-Busch products after the world’s largest brewing company partnered with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
On Sunday (2 April), Mulvaney shared a sponsored post on her Instagram account promoting Bud Light’s March Madness contest, prompting anti-trans backlash.
Scores of videos have been shared on social media showing conservative consumers pouring drinks owned by the company, including Budweiser and Michelob, away or smashing them up.
On Wednesday, Tritt shared a string of tweets in support of the Anheuser-Busch boycott.
“I will be deleting all Anheuser-Busch products from my tour hospitality rider. I know many other artists who are doing the same,” the “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” singer wrote.
“Other artists who are deleting Anheuser-Busch products from their hospitality rider might not say so in public for fear of being ridiculed and cancelled. I have no such fear,...

Monday's installment of How I Met Your Mother, "Twin Beds," took its name from the B-story, in which Lily and Marshall opted for separate beds in an effort to get more sleep.
Primarily, though, the episode revolved around Ted, Barney and Don. With Robin getting serious with her new boyfriend, both of her exes got jealous, drunk and desperate.
Watching this play out for half an hour, we had two conflicting, recurring thoughts:
This feels kind of forced Neil Patrick Harris deserves an Emmy anyway
Barney was in such rare form last night, even by his ridiculous standards, that the stretch of a plot was almost lost amid the howling. At this point, Nph has earned a place in that elite group of comedic actors whose mere presence elicits laughs.
Ted and Barney may have lost Robin, but they always have each other.
Amazing as some of their intoxicated ramblings...

It’s nearly that time again and Piers Morgan has been talking about the upcoming series of Britain’s Got Talent which starts next Saturday night.
In an interview with Nutts magazine (available this week) Piers revealed that we can expect some very strange acts and what he would do if he auditioned for the show. Check out an excerpt of the interview below.
Hi Piers! What’s the weirdest act you’ve ever seen on Britain’s Got Talent?
It’s on the new series! I don’t want to give the game away, but we have some very strange acts appearing! They wind Simon up but I love them!
If you were going on Bgt, what would your act be?
Throwing my pen up in the air! It’s a habit of mine. If I’d drunk a lot of Jack Daniel’s, I could also sing a song.

It was great to see "Floyd" back on 30 Rock last night, as Jason Sudeikis' character is definitely worthy of having an episode named after him. What brought Liz's ex to town?
A completely forced Today Show wedding contest, of course.
As absurd as these excuses are to bring people back (i.e. every time Will Arnett's Devon Banks makes an appearance), 30 Rock delivers enough hilarity to make you forget it.
It was cruel and unusual punishment for Liz to see her former flame back in town and soon to be engaged to another woman, so she decided to get revenge ... unwittingly.
Inviting him to the restaurant where she had gotten food poisoning more than once, Liz proceeds to get recovering alcoholic Floyd sloshed off the Jack Daniel's glaze sauce.
Just another day in the 30 Rock writers room.

Second off, we've done that movie to death, haven't we? So ...
Third off, I'll admit right up front that this is a stretch.
Mrs. Tater doesn't cotton to animals in the house. Not the four-legged kind anyway (she makes an obvious exception for yours truly). We tolerate the occasional spider as long as it stays out of sight; we tolerate the apparently hibernating cricket in the laundry room as long as it shuts up.
For awhile she made an exception for a tank of tropical fish, which means, of course, that I was regularly murdering fish by the plastic bagsful. It was a task to get the temperature properly regulated, so from time to time I would boil some and freeze others. Some of them developed...

Pajiban walks into a bar and orders a beer. Under his arm he carries his little yellow pet.
A few minutes later an enormous trucker comes in and orders an entire bottle of Jack Daniel's. Guy's a huge motherfucker, maybe 6-foot-8, 350 pounds. He bites the neck off the bottle and drinks half of it in a swallow, and he starts eyeing the Pajiban. It takes him 5 seconds to home in on the guy's pet, and he starts to laugh.
"Hey, ya pussy!" he yells down the bar. "That's the motherfuckin' ugliest dog I have ever seen in my fuckin' life. What color is that thing? Looks like baby shit to me."
The Pajiban sips his beer.
"I'm talkin' to you," the trucker snarls. "I said you got an ugly motherfuckin' dog. Whattaya think of that?"

If you're in Los Angeles, swing by Nikki Sixx's house to wish him a happy birthday, as the Mötley Crüe bassist turns 51 years old today. Of all the self-destructive rock stars who emerged from the '80s hair metal scene (and there were no shortage of casualties), Sixx's survival is nothing short of miraculous. While most of his bandmates in the Crüe were content to drink too much Jack Daniel's and crash expensive cars, Sixx spent most of his quality time experimenting with heroin. According to his excellent book The Heroin Diaries, Sixx believes he overdosed at least six times in his life, with one of those incidences coming on December 23, 1987, when he was legally dead for two minutes before paramedics revived him with a pair of adrenaline shots directly to his heart (this incident is memorialized in the Crüe hit "Kickstart My Heart").

There are a handful of new albums available today, including the latest psychedelic freakout from the Flaming Lips and Bob Dylan's Christmas album. But the one new release that guarantees a party is the latest from Bowling for Soup. Sorry for Partyin' features 14 tracks worth of good-time riffs, drink-along choruses and cheeky lyrics about beer and girls. And though the title of the album suggests that they've got a bit of regret, they want to reassure fans that they shouldn't take it seriously.
