Many things weigh on Aza Holmes, the anxious protagonist of Hannah Marks’ Turtles All the Way Down, but none more than the existence of bacteria. Thoughts of these microorganisms — the ease with which they can infiltrate a body and the chances of infection — plague her. She worries about a wound on her left middle finger, a slit in the skin she can’t let heal. Picking at the sore relieves her obsessive thought spirals, but it also activates a new round of worries about contamination, disease and the impossibility of safety.
Aza, played by Isabela Merced (Madame Web) has anxiety and Ocd, conditions that make the already challenging experience of high school even more difficult. Turtles All the Way Down, which Marks (Don’t Make Me Go) adapted from John Green’s novel of the same name, is a mostly moving portrait of how one teenager navigates her mind’s unruly terrain.

Reminiscing about the glory days of youth? Don’t. Bestselling author John Green — whose work has spawned a legion of big- and small-screen adaptations — certainly doesn’t. In Green’s stories, teenagehood is hard enough (and then some) as his beloved characters go through puberty, prom, and first love in tandem with far bigger worries ranging from cancer to obsessive compulsive disorder. People go missing, people aren’t ever found, people die.
It’s not exactly the stuff of popcorn entertainment, but Green’s stories always place a premium on the viewpoint of the kids who experience them and the youngsters who observe them. Being a teenager? It’s not for the faint of heart. Being a Green teen? Well, at least someone is treating you like an adult.
The latest Green adaptation, “Turtles All the Way Down,” offers yet another sterling example of that mindset and the power of it.

The latest John Green book to get the adaptation treatment is 2017’s “Turtles All the Way Down,” his follow-up to worldwide smash “The Fault in Our Stars.”

My sophomore year of college started with “How I Met Your Mother.”
I had just moved into my first apartment with four roommates, some of whom I’d known for years and others who were effectively strangers. As another University of Michigan Welcome Week unfolded, we started every day on the couch bingeing this show none of us had ever seen before, becoming instant fans. Whoever woke first each morning would start the day’s viewing, the theme song beckoning us to crawl out of our respective bedrooms in a Pavlovian undergraduate hangover ritual.
We never found our way back to the series, then in its sixth season on CBS, but would always remember it as an essential part of becoming roommates. I’ve only revisited “Himym” once since its notorious 2014 series finale — it aged poorly enough for me to make immediate peace with never returning again — and had no...

On the latest season of the How I Met Your Mother spinoff, Duff’s Sophie recalls a moment from her teenage years and a flashback scene from Lizzie McGuire appears. The nod to the kids’ show was to all of the fans disappointed the reboot didn’t happen, something that Duff recently recalled.
“I don’t think it was enough to satisfy the fact that [the Disney+ Lizzie McGuire revival] project is shelved,” she told Shape in a recent interview.
One of the highly-touted projects for the then-nascent Disney+ streamer was a revival of Lizzie McGuire. However, the show did not move forward over creative differences as Duff wanted a show tackling Lizzie’s problems as an adult while Disney reportedly wanted it to keep its family-oriented vibe.

Warning: This story contains spoilers from “A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Valentine’s Day,” the March 7 episode of “How I Met Your Father,” now streaming on Hulu.
Does Lizzie McGuire grow up to be Sophie Tompkins? It sure looks like. During Tuesday’s episode of “How I Met Your Father,” the group reflects on their past Valentine’s Day experiences. When it’s Sophie’s (Hilary Duff) turn, she has a flashback to when she was 13. Then, a clip of the Season 2 premiere of “Lizzie McGuire,” which aired in Feb 2002, is shown, during which she’s talking on the phone to her boyfriend while Miranda (Lalaine) is at her side.
So, does that mean that Sophie and Lizzie are the same person? “I’m not confirming that, but it felt like a really fun thing for us to do,” executive producer Elizabeth Berger tells Variety. “We got a temperature check from Hilary,...

Neil Patrick Harris has reprised his famous How I Met Your Mother role as Barney Stinson.
In the season two premiere of Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, it appears that the 49-year-old actor will play a pivotal role in the spinoff series.
Series creators Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger told TVLine that Harris will return as Barney for more episodes.
“Whenever we talk about bringing back a member of the original crew, you want it to serve two purposes,” Aptaker said. “You want to give some tidbits about what is going on in their lives, where they’ve landed and where they’re at, but it’s also about how they impact the How I Met Your Father story, and how they send one of our characters in a new, unexpected direction.
“Similar to Robin last year, we’ll learn some more about where Barney’s at, but...

How I Met Your Father Season 2 features a handful of guest stars, including Meghan Trainor, Mark Consuelos, and John Corbett. As fans saw in the Hulu show’s season 2 trailer, Hilary Duff’s Sophie will start a May-December romance with Corbett’s character. In a recent interview, Himyf writer and EP Elizabeth Berger revealed how Corbett ended up in the role — and why she was initially worried it would be too “weird” for Duff.
John Corbett | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic ‘How I Met Your Father’ was a reunion for John Corbett, Hilary Duff, and Kim Cattrall
Almost 10 years before Corbett, 61, and Duff, 35, paired up for How I Met Your Father, the two worked together on the teen film Raise Your Voice. Duff played a small-town teen who moved to Los Angeles to spend her summer at a performing arts school, while Corbett played her teacher.

Neil Patrick Harris made a surprise return to his Himym character Barney Stinson in the Season 2 premiere of Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, and it appears he will play a pivotal role in the spinoff series.
In the final beats of the episode titled “Cool and Chill,” the timeline shifts to a year after the events earlier in the episode. Sophie leaves her mom Lori (Paget Brewster) a hysterical voicemail saying she thinks she is dating her father before suddenly crashing into a luxury SUV. When the driver’s side door opens, the victim is revealed to be Barney. He shrugs and tells Sophie, “Dude!” just as the bumper falls off the Audi onto the sidewalk.
When future Sophie (Kim Cattrall) is asked by her son who that guy is she replies, “We’ll get there soon enough.”
Harris played Barney for nine seasons of Himym. After first...

Barney Stinson is back!
How I Met Your Father Season 2 got underway on Hulu on Tuesday morning with quite a surprise for fans of How I Met Your Mother.
During the season premiere, Sophie (Hillary Duff) hit Barney's car while driving.
It was a true shocker because the series managed to keep it under wraps until transmission, which is practically unheard of these days.
Harris previously interviewed Duff for Wondercade and was vocal about not thing Barney's antics would work in a show in 2022.
"Barney's antics, his overt delusions of grandeur, would likely get everyone in trouble," he said.
"So, unless he's changed his ways or joined a nunnery (insert an insert joke here), not sure if it's in anyone's best interest."
"I'm not sure how you feel about this, but I'm pretty sure Barney would … be in jail in 2022," Duff told him.
"Since we're living in the world of females coming into power,...

How I Met Your Father is returning for its second season on Hulu on January 24, and after some of the guest stars named already — including Himym‘s Cobie Smulders — we can’t help but wonder who else could pop up. Like, say, anyone from This Is Us since Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger also executive produced the NBC drama. “Oh my gosh, we would love to [have them on],” Aptaker tells TV Insider. “They’re all doing new shows right now.” Berger agrees, adding, “Yeah, I think down the line, if there was the right role, absolutely. Mandy actually did How I Met Your Mother before, so maybe there’s a way we can bring ...
