Overlord (2018)

Overlord is the most historically accurate WWII film in the past 2 weeks. So it's not accurate at all. But what it is however, is a gory and bloody action film with over the top set-pieces and all the typical J.J. Abrams tropes such as lens flares in every scene and explosions to rival Michael Bay. But this has decent good characters, charisma, and a sense of fun and adventure. It's not without it flaws, some dialogue just doesn't flow very well, and the cgi at times can be obnoxiously bad. But the practical effects are great. Wouldn't be mad if it got nominated for makeup at the Oscars. Overall, its a fun time.

Hunt Down the Freeman (2018 Video Game)

Hunt Down the Freeman is the best video game, ever. Full stop. No questions asked. Breathtaking cutscenes, amazing gameplay, an in depth story with an INCREDIBLE plot twist that has completely raised the bar for storytelling in video games. The game mechanics are slick, smooth, and violent. Making you really feel like Batman. The voice acting is top notch, even Pixar can't match this. The only negative I can give this game is that there's not a sequel to this, I'd be willing to drop a full 60$ for it. Overall this is the best game of all time. Nothing has come close and I hope a sequel is in the works.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

7/10 Mission: Impossible - Fallout is a damn good action film. Every single action scene in this film is fantastic. Stunning visuals, great camerawork, and smooth transitions, make this a great film for some fun action. It does however feel a bit too long, and that can lead to occasional watch checks. When you go see this, see it on the biggest screen possible! Also major props to Tom Cruise for being one of the best action stars ever!

Incredibles 2 (2018)

5/10 Incredibles 2 is the most corporate and boring film of the year so far. This film commits the worst offender of a sequel possible, not needing to exist. Nothing was gained, nothing important happened. All the characters are in the exact same spot from the beginning of the film to the end. There is no arc for anyone. The villain is one of the worst villains in cinema history. The plot is the most predictable and boring plot of recent years. There are some enjoyable things though. The action is fantastic, the humor mostly works, and some characters like Frozone and Violet are more interesting than others. Overall this is the safest thing Disney could have done with this film and it really shows. It's a shame because this could have been a fantastic film.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

Solo: A Star Wars Story has a rocky first act and a sub par romance plot. But when it's not focused on that, it's a pure thrill ride of great action. Everyone does a fantastic job (Especially Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover). Solo has some gorgeous shots that contain tons of real creatures that truly make this film come to life. A fantastic score by John Powell. When it all comes together, the whole adventure feels like a living and breathing universe. Not to mention this film is absolutely caked with fan service. As well as one very special appearance that'll make everyone want more standalone Star Wars films!

Deadpool 2 (2018)

Deadpool 2 is the sequel to the not very well known indie film Deadpool, and it's pretty much on the same level as the first. For every thing this movie does better, it also does something worse than the original. The action, story, and music are better. But the humor, editing, and overall impact was less. It's just more of the same. So if you like Deadpool, go see it.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Avengers: Infinity War is by far Marvel's most ambitious film ever. And it mostly pays off, after 10 years of buildup. With incredible effects, masterful sound design, great characters complimented by a fantastic cast, and some of the best action in marvel films. However it's uneven tone, some unfocused characters, and probably some of the worst comic relief in a Marvel film hold it back from being a great film. Nonetheless, the end result is a blast from start to finish, that should satisfy fans.

Tomb Raider (2018)

Stays true to the games

Tomb Raider isn't a great film by any stretch. However I was entertained for the run time. Alicia Vikander carries this film that makes it enjoyable. Without her it's below average.

Black Panther (2018)

Over-hyped but entertaining

Black Panther isn't the masterpiece people are saying it is. But it does contain some thrills, and a fantastic cast that suits this film incredibly. Overall it's not a film I'd want to see again but I'm glad I saw it at least once.

Ready Player One (2018)

Fun... but predictable

Ready Player One doesn't do anything new or unexpected, and takes any unique story behind the concept, throws it to the back and replaces it with pop culture references. But it is a fun and campy adventure, that people of all ages and demographics can enjoy.

Paddington 2 (2017)

A bear with a sandwich addiction

Paddington 2 is a lovable, charming, and overall fun sequel, to a film that didn't need one. Yet I'm glad there is. If you said to me last year that one of my favorite films of 2018 (so far) would be about a bear that likes marmalade sandwiches, I wouldn't believe you.

Annihilation (I) (2018)

Mystical and fantastic

Annihilation is everything a sci-fi film should be. Amazing visuals, breathtaking cinematography, and a story that keeps you thinking. Though the first act is quite slow and may bore some people, the end result for me is a modern day masterpiece.

A Quiet Place (2018)

A Quiet Place develops a silent, unique, and above all a terrifying premise that delivers a unique thriller/horror cinema experience that I haven't experienced in a while. While also showing that John Krasinski has a surprising vision for the future of his films. Impressive John, most impressive.
