Watchmen (2019)
The Pilot was intriguing. The rest is fab. Watch this again & again & again..
The pilot was intriguing and different enough to stir interest. Looking forward to the rest.
Just watched up to episode 5, and it is really good. So pleased that I'm not binge watching because this way, the story unravels, nicely. It is so good. Angela's role works really well and the whole crew are a great team. My fav is looking glass..
This is not suitable for flat dull people.
Watched the next episode and it just gets better.
Now watched the finale and can confirm that this is one of the best TV series, ever. The negative reviews are so obviously biased, and you can see that most of those reviews come from people who could not bring themselves to enjoy this fabulous series for want of 'race' issues. I wonder if those reviews will also cry wolf at the news report today, that a mass burial site may have been discovered in Tulsa. Yes it actually happened, and thanks to Watchmen we all know about it.
Setting that aside, this is such a fabulous show. The detail is a joy, and one that can be repeated each time it is watched. Usully, it is so difficult to rewatch a show, without a long break in between - well as family members joined me, I happily watched the first few episodes, three times. Each time I found something new. Wow! The actors were a fabulous team, and carried the story line superbly. Regina King rocks. Lube man is a global favourite, Blake is a badass cool chief of police, Looking glass man is my favourite. The Easter eggs are a treat to find. My only only only ?? is that Jeremy Irons (is fab) but why the strange accent? Well done and thank you to the team.
Kin (2018)
something quirkily nice about this slow paced sci fi treat
Seems really slow like being in treacle or a slow motion dream..enough slow to turn away for a couple of secs and return and continue... really slow but worth the wait. Yep to the poor scripting or something. But what a treat. A really enjoyable sci fi movie with lots more..perhaps a follow up...
Siempre Bruja (2019)
5 for Carmen ...
Would have been 1, but for Angely Gaviria's prescence.
Which begs the question...was I dreaming or was the main character Carmen... Not according to the IMDB cast which placed Angley (Carmen) in sixth place after Estaben, Alicia, Mayte and Johnny Ki.
What's that all about????
Russian Doll (2019)
Ditto to all the fab reviews
To all those 10/10 ratings add mine...What more can I add to all those glowing reviews but ditto... and ditto and... I too reactivated my IMDB account to comment. Well done to the entire Russian Doll team and thank you Netflix.
Great title which is perfectly suited in so many ways and on so many levels. This series was: Intelligent, funny, thought provoking, poignant, enjoyable, risque and with a great soundtrack.....Nilsson and Love.. Fantastic acting from every single actor but have to metion Natasha, Charlie and Elizabeth and of course Oatmeal. A film that you can watch over and over and again! At the end I felt satisfied and sated and don't need a follow up, but if there is one, I have an inkling it might have something to do with melons perhaps??
Okja (2017)
It doesn't matter if the consumers know, as long as it's cheap they'll buy it
The truth of the matter is the fault lies in the customer, cos It doesn't matter if the consumers know, as long as it's cheap they'll buy it! We all know about the super cows that look like body builders but what the heck, more steak and cheaper too.
I understand the negative comments, because everyone has different opinions. It was a brave movie to make knowing that there would be cynicism particularly in down-rating the artistry and skills simply because there is a real and unsettling message. Well done and thank you.
It is difficult to make a movie that sends out a profound yet urgent message. Okja did this really well. Well done. Drama, humour, young female heroine, world cinema, good directing, thoughtful special effects. Bravo. Right down to the amusing caricatures that are the sign of a memorable story and of course in this case the hopelessness of it all but yet there are those who still keep on trying to change things. I also liked the irony of the juxtaposing of the morality of the ALF's actions.
The Culture High (2014)
An intelligent, thoughtful and insightful look at our brave new world!
Two hours well spent for an insightful yet accessible documentary which, with the addition of similar shared views on oil, could neatly fit into 'A short history of modern everything'.
Carefully researched, well balanced and brave. Indeed a thoroughly nourishing look at our brave new world. Only 8.5! never-mind because in years to come this will prove to be one of those classics that are enjoyable but yet remind us of our infallibility as a society, where policies are harmful but the courage and effort required to change things are squashed by a general consensus of fear and ignorance. I particularly liked the balance of information in this documentary.
My only query is whether there is any legitimate (emphasis on legitimate rather than autocratically driven consensual hearsay) documentation that confirms the presence of detrimental side effects, because of course everything can have side effects - even eating too many carrots can have side effects!
Thank you to all those brave professionals who spoke perhaps knowing that their credibility in their world would probably be tainted, or they might even be sacked, as was Professor David Nutt. A special thank you to Howard Bloom who came over as a true philanthropist. Well done Brett Harvey and team for two hours of thought provoking cinematographic entertainment,
