Distortion of History...
After seeing the trailer and the VERY HIGH rate on IMDb, I decided to go to the Cinema and see the movie.
And I must say that I totally regret it!! The movie is nothing but a distortion of History!! They pictured the Persians as if they were ugly monsters and slavery empire while they pictured Spartans as if they were angels or something!! Fighting for Freedom!! All known reliable history books says great things about the Persians civilization and their king while the movie show the king as if he's a homo!!!! While in the history books Spartans are the ones who enjoyed young boys!!!!! The Persians didn't look that ugly of course and the king never appeared in the front line in the real battle and the Spartans only delayed the Persians for a few days, nothing more!! The graphics were awful, specially the wolf in the beginning, also the elephants and rhino as well, also the "AROOOOO" thing, it was unpleasant at all!!!! And the cheesy lines about freedom and so on!! Awful script indeed!! A clear political offending message to Iran and to the world.
Another thing that bothers me is the UNBELIEVABLE high rate on IMDb!! And this makes me wonder how such a poor movie reaches 8.3 with more than 35 thousand votes in the first few days??!! It makes me wonder about the creditability of this site indeed!!!! To sum it up; those were 2 hours I lost from my life for TOTAL CRAP!!!!
Mallaki Iskandariya (2005)
The Best Egyptian Movie I've Ever Seen
This movie is absolutely amazing, one of the best ones ever, in fact it is the best one ever!! Ahmed Ezz made a fantastic role in this movie, he proved that he is really a good actor & not just a pretty face!! And also Khaled Saleh who made the role of his life & also Mohamed Rageb made a very very good role.
Also Nour & Ghada Adel made the role of their lives, Riham Abdel Gafoor didn't have a real impact on this movie but it was nice to see her anyway.
And Sandra the director did a great job in this one & made it one of the best Egyptian movies ever.
All I can say is; This movie is a piece of ART!!
The Island (2005)
Don't believe in what you hear, it's only half of what you see!!
I've just seen "The Island", and I found it a very good movie, the main subject of the movie isn't new as it was discussed before in many other movies but the presentation here was different and much better than all the other movies I've seen before.
And as usual it raises the same question "Are you ready to kill a person to save two?! Are you ready to kill tens to save hundreds?! Are you ready to kill hundreds to save thousand?! And are you ready to kill thousands to save millions?! OF course NOT, we are not the ones who decides who lives and who dies!! It's a very good movie that is worth watching, and like the famous quote that says; "Don't believe in what you hear, it's only half of what you see"!
The Village (2004)
Totally underrated...
I've seen this movie and I was totally surprised not because I found a very good movie but because I found it has nothing to do with what I expected or may be to what all of us expected! I think that we all expected a horror movie or may be a thriller and that's from the trailer and the quote of the movie and everything else but what I really found was a drama! And a very good one too! The story is a very good one discussing a very interesting topic too, the idea that this is the current time and those people chose not to live in that world because of it's cruelty and chose to hide away in a natural preserve and make a myth about unknown creatures so that no one goes into the woods and so that they be kept safe from today's world.
I think that it's a very good movie and it's totally underrated even by me!!!!
Forrest Gump (1994)
Astonishing...
When I first saw that movie I knew that I must see it again and when I saw it again I knew that I must see it again and when I saw it again I knew that I must see it again and since the last time I saw it I'm waiting to the time I see it again! Of course the story is practically impossible! Or may be not!! But the message in the movie is too strong to neglect or to ignore, the amazing actor "Tom Hanks", who proved by this movie that he is not just an actor but he's one of the best actors in the history and that's for sure and he proved that too in "Cast Away", and "Saving Private Ryan", and all his other movies.
A simple message through the movie saying "Whoever you are, whatever you are and wherever you are; you can do anything"!! I'll always remember the words saying "Run Forrest, run..."!!
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
A spectacular movie...
The Shawshank Redemption is not just a movie, it's a phenomena, it's a one of kind and that's for sure.
The man who wrote such a story is a genius, and of course the director who used the story perfectly to make such a movie, and the actors "Tim Robbins" and "Morgan Freeman" made such a perfect role specially "Tim Robbins" because "Morgan Freeman" never made a bad role ever, but "Tim Robbins" didn't make great roles in many movies so his role in this movie is spectacular.
One of the best scenes in the movie is the one when the prison manager took his bible and was about to leave and then remembered and gave him the bible saying "Salvation is within", not knowing that if he opened the bible he will find the tool "Robbins" used to dig!! And in the end "Robbins" leave the bible with a small note saying "You were right, salvation is within"!! Amazing.
Saw (2004)
A good movie in general...
The movie was a very good movie in general and much better than I expected too! The idea was innovative and very smart, so thrilling and breathtaking in some parts too.
But there were two things about this movie that I didn't like 1- There were no reason what so ever for the doctor to cut his leg!! I mean common it's not that hard to get to the cell phone!! He should have used his shirt, like they did in the beginning of the movie! I think that cutting his leg like this wasn't realistic at all and not logical (at least to me).
2- The first seen in the movie when Adam wakes up in the dark and talks to the doctor and tells him to turn on the lights and he answers saying "If I could", and the doctor have been awake before than Adam, so he stayed sometime in the dark and in the middle of the movie they turn off the light to see the X mark!! Don't you think that the doctor would have noticed that from the beginning when he was in the dark!! Anyway, other than that I think it's a very good movie.
Love Story (1970)
The Best Romantic Movie Ever...
I really was astonished when I found that the rating is 6.2!! I mean how did that happen?! Did you really see the movie?! This movie is by far the best romantic movie ever and that's for sure, the story is so simple and so sincere, and the actors did their parts very well, and don't let start talking about the music!! The music is breathtaking, the one who composed it is a genius.
I have seen this movie about four times and I'm willing to see it again and again and again and again and I'll never ever get bored, because it's a one of a kind!
I'll end my comment quoting the last phrase in the movie "Love means never having to say you are sorry"!
I, Robot (2004)
I never thought it will be that good...
I am not really a big fan of this kind of movies (the sci-fi movies), and I rarely watch movies that takes place in the future, may be because I'm realistic and love realistic movies.
Anyway, even though I don't usually like that kind of movies but I totally loved this one!! The story was so good and the acting was great, I like all Will Smith's movies, and the way the subject was presented was somehow innovative and makes the audience feel the story behind the movie, it's not only the action and the sci-fi, there's good drama too.
I never thought it will be that good, but it is! It is very good.
The Butterfly Effect (2004)
A one of a kind movie...
I've seen this movie and I consider it one of the best -if not the best- movie I have ever seen!! I know that many people don't think so and I still don't know why!! I found the story is so amazing and the way it was presented was even better.
After I have seen this movie I couldn't stop thinking about for more than a week and applying it's main idea on my own life.
The idea is simple and the story behind it is amazing, I remember the myth that said "A small butterfly kept on flying in circles till it made a hurricane"!! Of course that's a myth but that's what the movie is all about, each and every single decision we take might change our lives forever!!
