nothing like Glitter
21 April 2002
** oops. be careful, this gives away a little bit of the movie** so glitter got all bad reviews... from just about everyone. don't let that effect you choice of watching a walk to remember. This movie is different, and mandy moore is fit for the part. Not only does she play the part really well, she makes you forget that she is also a pop star. You actually believe that she is a sick patient with lukemia and is about to die soon. She doesn't get all cocky just because she finally bridged the gap between the music and movie buisness. She did bridge the gap but the did it humbily and performed magnificently. Shane West also did a great job. He makes you feel what he is suppose to feel in the movie. And he does such a great acting job to make the transition between cocky popular dude to a caring thoughtful boyfriend really smooth. The audience really does believe that he changed from person A to person B, even though they are as different as black and white. West helps the audience believe that this is true. Please watch it, it won't disappoint you.

pointless
21 April 2002
this was not only a pointless movie, it was offending towards women, boring, poorly written, poorly directed, not funny, and basically the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. I strongly recommend you to NOT watch this movie.

It's great, it's great, it's great, it sucks
21 April 2002
Lord of the Rings. What can I say? Pearl Harbor was suppose to take the year 2001 away, like that. with no sweat. The movie that ended up being the Titanic of 2001 was Lord of the Rings. And its really everything that people said it would be. It's funny, intense, breath-taking, a nail biter, heart racing, scary, and sad. The graphics and special effects. Let's just say I'm still in awe. How do you take normal people and shrink them so they appear to be hobbits? but not only that, in the same shot, there is a normal person who appears to be a giant. How do you create a population full of grusemely gross creatures that just can't seem to die out? How are the fire-cracker ideas thought of? It's amazing, and as a member of the audience I guess these questions will never be answered, but that's fine, because I'll just let them amaze me, and i'm ok with that. The story line is great. I haven't read the book, but I heard it differs in many ways, unlike harry potter which follows the book's story line 100%. I have to give the author credit. His ideas are different from Harry Potter, yet similar as well. However he must have the best imagination, because the story line was amazing. It always kept you guessing what was going to happen next. And you were never let down. Everything that happened was always a suprise. Nothing was left given. That's why everyone can enjoy it. However, for the girls, there's also the sappy part. The part that made me cry along with the characters in the movie. But I guess you'll just have to watch the movie yourself to see why I cried. Trust me it's worth it. But now, we've gone through the it's great. it's great, it's great. it doesn't seem like it could suck does it? Anyways, it did. The climax kept on building and building and building, until the 3 hour long movie seemed like nothing. And you want to keep on watching the movie, but it ends, and it just leaves you hanging, when the movie is at the top of its climax!!!! At some points the movie seems long, but at the end you don't want it to end. And you don't believe it has ended until you see the credits. Well at least that's how it was for me. That's why it got a 9. But there are two more sequels coming out, so maybe its good that i was left hanging. Because I am definitely watching the next movie. And if that movie leaves me hanging too, I am definitely watching the third movie.

Gross but still funny
19 April 2002
I thought this movie was great. It tended to get pretty gross in some scenes, but it was funny for the majority of the time. The plot was really meaningful and great, and I really liked the moral of the story. Even though everyone might think oh that's such an obvious moral and it doesn't even apply to me, when in reality it applies to everyone, except it might be to a different extreme. This movie really helped me realize that. I think that's why i liked it so much. The message behind the movie really touches everyone, and there's more than one so if you don't like movies with obvious points just look for the more in depth meanings!

Mandy moore did a great job
19 April 2002
I walked into the theater thinking that this was going to be a horrible movie, another movie where a singer who doesn't belong in the acting business, is trying to walk across the thin bridge. It wasn't like that at all. Mandy Moore did a great job, portraying her character. I forgot that Janie Sullivan was Mandy Moore and I enjoyed the movie a lot more because of that. Shane West also did a fabulous job playing his character. Because of his wonderful acting scene, i cried while watching this movie. I highly recommend all of you to watch this movie.

Sweet
19 April 2002
It was funny, sweet, romantic, and a total chick flick. I personally liked it a lot. I thought the jokes were funny and that the story line was really sweet. Yes, it was a little cheesy but that's ok. and there was one scene that was too amateur material for a box office movie. It looked like it belonged on a daytime kids tv series, like clueless or something. but i won't give anything away. I'd still watch it again even with that scene in it. i luved it!

The typical chick flick
19 April 2002
I'm a girl, and i even thought it was a chick flick. i'm a valley girl ditz too. if that will help you at all. but even though it was a chick flick it doesn't mean that its a bad movie. i enjoyed watching it. i thought it was sweet and romantic, even though i was painfully aware that it would never happen in real life.

not as good as some make it sound, not as bad as others make it sound
19 April 2002
This is not a movie that you are going to think about. It's a movie where you're going to relax, laugh, eat, and enjoy... with your friends. So if the special effects are being complained about (which i enjoyed, i thought they were very funny because of the matrix, and i thought it was put in at the right time) then think about it this way, its not a movie that's going to put you at the end of your seat waiting for what's going to happen next. Its a movie that allows you to relax, and get in a few laughs here and there, and the general idea of the movie. I thought it was funny, well written, well acted, and well directed. It wasn't anything amazing, but it definitely deserves some credit. Watch it, expecting it to be nothing, not good or bad, and i assure you that you will enjoy it a fair amount.

The best film of the year!
25 March 2002
Ok, so the year hasn't been that long, but I've seen a lot of movies this year so far, and this has definitely been the best one. The jokes may be stupid, but they are hilarious. I was laughing along w/ everyone else in the theater from the beginning until the end. And Unlike American Pie 2, this story had a plot, while being just as funny and funnier, in some parts, than American Pie 2 and 40 days and 40 days. I strongly recommend you to watch this. And if you look at the total gross and it disapoints you think about it this way, its R, I'm sure many many underage teenagers sneak in to watch it. I know, because when I watched it there were people sitting on the stairs and every seat was taken!

I Am Sam (2001)

A disappointment...
25 March 2002
I walked into the theater thinking this was going to be the best movie of the year. I thought it was going to be so touching and sad. However, that wasn't the case. Maybe the movie seems worse to me than it really was because I walked in with very high expectations. But they could have done better, with or without my expectations. The acting was wonderful. Sam and his daughter did a wonderful job playing the part of their character. That wasn't what made it bad. All of the actors did wonderful jobs, and were really well casted, but they were the only part of the movie that made it good. The script was horrible. There were times when it just got too long, and then there were times when it seems rushed. Especially in the end, it seemed like the producers ran out of time, and that they cut out many important scenes. In the end of the movie you kind of don't know what's going on, because either the scenes were cut out, or the script writers left out a lot of information that they needed to keep in. Other than that, Sean Penn was an incredible actor in this movie.

It deserved the Oscars it won
25 March 2002
I'm going to make this short and sweet. The special effects and sound were spectacular and amazingly realistic. The acting was phenomenal, and the actors that were chosen did an amazing job playing the roles. No better actor could have been asked for.

Josh Hartnett amazes me again!
25 March 2002
You'd think that after watching Pearl Harbor, after Josh Hartnett's fabulous performance there, that all you'd see while watching him in this movie is a soldier from WW2. However, Hartnett does a spectacular job in this movie, again, convincing you every bit that he is this guy who gives up all forms of sex for 40 days. The jokes are funny, the plot makes sense, the ending is shocking. I laughed everytime it was suppose to be funny and many more times than that. It is definitely a movie to enjoy with your friends, guys and girls. Some people say that I only liked it because Josh Hartnett stars in it, however that is not true. True, Hartnett does a very good job playing this role, but the script was really the key to making it such a good movie. Not only that, but all the guy friends I watched it with all agreed that it was better than American Pie and American Pie 2, which were both really funny movies.

There's something in this movie for everyone
25 March 2002
This movie is perfect. There's the action for the guys, the love story for the girls, the accurate historical facts for the teachers, and it educates all. It really opens your mind to what happened on December 7, 1941, and it really shows you new points of view. For example, the director and script writer gave the Japanese general a conscience, so that he doesn't seem like the "evil tyrant" that some text books classify him to be. The special effects and all of the war scenes are amazingly realistic. Some say that the movie is really "sappy" and "predictable" but even if that is true, the acting, directing, and music goes together so well that you can't help but get sucked into the movie and cry when they cry, pray when they pray, and laugh when they laugh. It is a phenomenal movie and I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I did and do.

This movie touches you emotionally incredibly deeply
25 March 2002
WOW. This is the best movie EVER. It was amazing. The directing, the acting, the script, the story line, the scenes, the music, the everything! It touched me so incredibly deeply, that even though this movie took place in a different time period, I felt like I was there, and I could relate even though in any other circumstance I wouldn't be able to. It really opens up your eyes, your heart, and your mind. It makes you look at the world in a new perspective. I cried from the beginning to the end. It touches you throughout the entire movie, and is on a real subject matter that is tangible to all. I strongly recommend you to watch this movie, even if you might not have enjoyed the book.
