The Pianist (2002)
Nothing short of amazing!
I saw this movie just two nights ago and I still can't get it off my mind. It was definitely a master piece that every one should be forced to watch. I have always been a fan of Holocaust movies and this one tops the list. I was in tears for more then fifty percent of the movie. Roman Polanski is back at what he does best and Adrien Brody was beautiful. His subtle performance brought life to a role that many actors strive to achieve. His academy award was much deserved. The story of a man that started with every thing and lost every thing was very inspiring. Unlike other Holocaust films, the entire process of what the Jews went through was portrayed. You saw a man that had every thing, a good life with his family and soon it was all stripped away. Its inspiring to anyone who thinks they have it bad! I don't think i can ever complain about any thing in my life because this man went through so much more then I ever will and still survived. Please, if you have a chance, see this film. It will change you, hopefully. 10/10
Moonlight Mile (2002)
Breathtaking and Refreshing!
This movie was nothing short of amazing! I don't really have the words to use to describe how i felt after I walked out of the theater last night, but I found it hard to breath All of the performances were brilliant. Hoffman was still amazing in his scatter brained role and Saradon was sleak, sexy and solemn. But most note worthy would have to be Jake Gyllenhaal. I've been following his career for a few years now and I have caught up on all of his movies. He is a very talented person, and a very physical actor. When i saw the pain his character went through, I almost cried and believe me, it takes allot. i would definitely recommend this movie to any one, especially those of you who saw The Good Girl and like it. The story may be sad and it may make your heart ache, but you'll walk out feeling refreshed and full of life. 10/10
Signs (2002)
Spooky and heartfelt
I just recently saw this movie at an early screening. I have previously seen M. Night Shyamalan's other 2 films and expected some thing very much the same. Long, drawn out scenes that are very suspenseful and close ups that are close enough to make you sick half the time. But i was surprised with what i encountered. Indeed, the movie is nothing like what you would expect after seeing the preview. Of course it does have to do with crop circles and aliens, but the core of the story is a man finding himself after being lost. Mel Gibson is an amazing actor and proved once again that he can be a vulnerable father figure. Joaquin Phoenix was also cast perfectly as Gibson's younger brother.
I dont want to give away to much of the story, but Signs is well worth the time it takes to watch the film. Its rare that a film so blatantly tugs on the human heart and metaphorically shows us how the bad things in life all happen for a reason. 10/10. Enjoy!
Highway (2002)
Unappreciated
Wow! this movie was so much better then i expected. i was walking down the aisle of the local video store and was intrigued by the cover. i had heard a little about it before but Highway was definitely worth the rental price.
For one, the acting was superb. Jared Leto is an extraordinary actor and all of them had wonderful timing with every thing they did. The story is what wont leave my mind. A bizarre, maybe metaphoric way of looking at the power of life and the search for love. Some times it takes a violent disturbing movie to make an impact because we live in a world that is so full of distractions.
I would recommend this movie to any one with an open mind that is willing to experience life through some one else's mind. 10/10
Lola rennt (1998)
Breathtaking!
Wow! There arent many words to describe this movie. I was amazed the first time i saw it. I couldn't even close my eyes! I have never seen a movie, let alone an artsy one, that so much passion and energy.Franka Potente is truly amazing. Even though she spends more then half of the movie running, she was still wonderful. Hetr unique beauty and accent make her irresistable and i fall back in love with her every time i see this movie. Tom Tykwer is definitely a genius. iI definitely recommend this movie for any one who believes in hope and the odd- power of the love and the fact that even though we are merely human, we can come over any thing. 10/10
