We're All Going to the World's Fair (2021)
Unsupervised Internet Access
The film itself is an interesting look into the mindset of a teen having so much access to the internet without being aware of the consequences that can occur having it.
Many people, mainly millenials and gen z, can probably relate to the story and to how Casey explores it, going down this rabbit hole of a horror setting. It represents well how being so immersed into the world wide web and all of that hides in there can really take a toll on anyone's mental state.
Having experienced something similar as a young teen exploring the internet, I felt identified with her, with losing yourself in something that may or may not be real, which is totally up to you.
The way the film is made makes it feel very close to home and real, it's always refreshing to see the integration of all types of cameras to capture differents moments when necessary. It's not a perfect film, but the feeling and intention put into it makes it work so well.
Gon-ji-am (2018)
Terrifying and fun
Recently I got around to watching this movie and I must say, as a fan of found footage films, this one really did spook me.
The scares are made very well and the whole set up is quite convincing. The way that the movie truly immerses you into a complete nightmare is fun and it's nice to see the integration of streaming sites into a genre that would absolutely benefit a lot from using.
It's like a modern day grave encounters, fortunately without much of the dated cgi effects the previous film has. It delivers on moments that are truly chilling and that can keep you up at night if you remember them well.
Very much a movie I would recommend to horror fans that would like to give found footage a chance.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Wow
Truly, this movie is beautiful in every sense that it exists.
From the message of the film to the editing, the comedic timing to the gut punching moments, it's a movie to remember for a lifetime. Already with two watches in, I can say that this movie really has become a new favorite.
An absolute beautiful experience that's worth watching anywhere you possibly can.
It is everything everywhere all at once but never does it feel too much or lost at all, it all makes sense.
Journey to Hell (2022)
Its a movie I guess...
Genuienly, this movie isn't a good movie. Sure it exists and yes, it is about religion, repent and hell, but it isn't well made.
It's sad to see a film like this and it trying to make so much money off of something that doesn't bring anything new to its story, it's plain and quite honestly, boring. If the story resonates with you and your own belief in a hell, good for you, for others, it honestly doesn't say much about what we haven't seen before: man goes to hell, feels bad and doesn't want to be there, magically it's all okay and has a second chance.
And don't get me started with the green screen, now come on, someone had to notice in post-production that it didn't look great.
I know that making films is a hard process but really, this film is repetitive in it's themes, makes unnecessary racist jokes with one of the people in hell, makes no effort into making a compelling story, flat one dimmensional characters and just feels like a complete satire.
Don't waste your time on it.
