No Escape (I) (2015)

Half descent action flick ruined by PC
3 April 2024
The film started well with some good action filmed in mainly closeups which I found a bit distracting but the action was solid on clearly a low budget. The action did get a little repetitive with the family getting repeatedly caught.

The Owen and Piers this is a nice easy action flick for them and they both looked like they took this film seriously but were having fun at the same time.

This was all ruined by the Brosnan diatribe about how it's the West's fault that this country was having a coup because the cooperations were exploiting these countries and the leaders of these countries were to stupid to realise this was happening. The billionaire leaders who take massive kickbacks from the cooperations and the implication that these countries had no corruption until evil white people turned up.

This is pure and simple racism of bigotry of low expectations, that none white people have no agency and are all victims and that the rebels were justified in their murdering and raping spree. A usual leftwing narrative.

A film for lefties to self flagellate. Themselves on.

Birthday treat 1987
25 August 2023
I saw this in 1987 as an 11 year old with a few friends for my birthday. So this film is very vivid for me. Its the only film I remember going to see.

I loved it as a kid and still love it to this day, another Mel Brooks home run with his cheesy, corny and cringe comedy in a film that does not take itself to seriously in any way.

I just love the parody of Star Wars that was a little adult in some places but plenty of slapstick for the kids.

It was this film that awakened me to Mel Brooks and his great list of films but it was a few years before a saw Blazing Saddles for obvious reasons.

Take your kids to watch it. You wont regret it.

It says on IMDB that the film wasn't released until December in the UK but I saw this film in September, bit of an error.

Not Wargames
8 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This film starts off well with some good character building and nice scenes.

But as soon as the film gets into the meat of the plot things start to fall down.

The young man is overly smart and overly confident to the point of arrogance and the female character goes the same way. They get raided by the Police and military but neither of them are phased or frightened and they know their rights LOL.

They knowingly steel dangerous radioactive metals but they are the victims of the state coming to arrest them for their theft and more serious crimes.

This is where the film massively departs from being a Wargames clone and shows the kids to be more like clueless terrorists. The kids are not the good guys and a serious danger to society. More so than a kid with a gun.

The kids in wargames were desperate to preserve life and stop Armageddon. This kids in this film were like sure lets build a world ending devise and why would you have a problem with this.... Crazy.

A rather lackluster film with a poor plot but could have been much better and loved like Wargames. A waste of talent with John Lithgow.

Avatar 2 The Revenge or Something.
3 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What a pile of drivel the plot in this film is.

WTF

From a man that gave us T2, Aliens, Titanic and even True Lies.

He spouted this drivel.

Sometime in the 2000's he had a lobotomy and started to think his own farts smelt great.

Avatar was a visual spectacular with a weak plot but it was just good enough to get the film through to the end. Dances with wolves with space Smurfs.

Now this paint by numbers diatribe is another thing entirely. Yes more amazing CGI but this time the plot is even weaker (if possible) It is so predictable its almost laughable.

Dreadlocks, really!!

Evil white/bluemen come and destroy our perfect way of life.

Indigenous people that are soooo Intune with nature that when they fart nature thanks them....

Did they go to Harry Potter and get the resurrection stone or something to get all the people back from the dead!! Or is it they could not think of a descent bad character so had to go cheap and repeat the same bad guy. LOL

The high marks for this is laughable. Review bombing? Oh wait that onlky happens when the bad guys do it ;)

The Christmas Toy (1986 TV Movie)

Wonderful children's film
9 March 2023
A film I saw when I was a very young child maybe 8 or 9 in the 80's on Christmas day in England.

I was so enamored, I forgot about my presents and watched this alone without a word. (very early in the morning) A truly wonderful creation by the Muppets that clearly went on to inspire Toy Story.

My little girl will definitely watch this and hopefully be moved in the same way I was by this delightful film.

Every part of the film is captivating for a child and allows a child to enter a wonderful mysterious world with true life meanings that will stay with them for life.

I would recommend any parent to show their children this delight.

This is nothing to do with Darling Buds of May
28 July 2022
This is nothing to do with Darling Buds of May. It is some crappy soap set in the 1950's or a sort of an attempt at a comedy but with the funny bits missing.

This no relation to the original series except for the names of some characters.

Its an insult to name it such.

No charm or any likable characters, unfunny and tedious. The script is just boring and contrived.

Where is the charm. It feels like a modern world but with people wearing and driving things from the 50's.

Oh yes tokenism on speed.

Some good camera work and the sets were very nice for the 2 star.

Don't bother watching it, watch the original for the charm and a descent story,

Awesome

This film is a blockbuster.

An action packed thrill ride form start to finish.

The start of the film was great. Using the same start sequence as the original film was brilliant.

The acting was very good and there were no slow or unnecessary parts of the film. In fact another 10 mins with the new pilots to flesh out their stories would have added value to the film but that is just an idea.

The action sequences were amazing and Cleary better than the original.

Go and see it and you wont regret it.

Disney Cooperate junk
16 June 2022
Regardless of your thoughts about the actors/actresses this series is just very badly written and directed.

Disney has clearly focused on the "message" and basically employed mediocre people to push the "message" and missed the whole reason why they were there. To write a Sci fi series for people that actually like Starwars.

The message they are pushing really does not resonate with most people and eventually the money will run out.

I for one will cancel my Disney+ account, mainly because their new content is just rubbish and I am not willing to help push the Disney fake message. The message they never push in countries like China....

Good ideas let down by poor implementation.

Warning: Spoilers
I am an X submariner who served on the Vanguard class of subs, which was depicted in this drama.

Many reviewa have stated that this was not a documentary. Agreed but a drama based on reality needs to stick to said reality to be believable.

The writers made up quite a few things to make their plot work.

SSBN's do not submerge in coastal waters and they would definitely know if there is a trawler in their area. This was a forced plot point.

A oil tanker would not be able to sneak up on sub. It would have been detected miles away. This isn't the 1940's.

The BBC did not have to get the layout correct of the sub but it also is not the TARDIS. It's looks to be 25 meters across.

Unforgivable to get the uniforms wrong and how the submariners actually behave. They are professional, not a bunch of kids in uniform.

Watch the channel 5 documentary to see how they really behave.

The missile deck where most of the crew sleep is carpeted to keep the noise down and there are never that many people up and about randomly looking at computer screens. Most people are asleep, unless it's eating time.

Those are some of the worst inaccuracies.

The plot was a bit shaky but I enjoyed some of the twists and turns. But generally the writing was poor.

There was no need for the superfluous love story between the women as there was enough of that from the crew. This came across as box ticking.

The sets weren't the best, they looked to new and clinical and unused. Missing information that the submarines would need to use them.

The CGI was just poor.

They could have kept the story based in reality and still had a similar story and it would have been a better drama.

WTF
7 December 2019
What the hell is this drivel!

A Northern European nation bordering a SE Asian nation, wut. Whats wrong with Turkey or Azerbaijan. Actual countires bordering Asia and Europe. Bigotry of low expectations.

Basically a film to tick every box of diversity but it wanted to do it so hard that they put an SE Asian country in Northern Europe lol. If they wanted to be really diverse they should have actually filmed this in Asia and just done a story about Asian kingdoms. There are many and they are very interesting. In fact the lead roles should have been non-whites as all the boring roles were given to minorities. If this film was going to be really diverse they would not give minorities the crappy roles.

Then let's talk about the script and acting. The script was rather puerile with occasional bits that were funny but not because they were supposed to be. The acting was mundane and a bit forced, if not comical. I am actually suprised of the Xmas themes and some traditional Xmas songs.

Was this film a magical Xmas film. No This film is for teen girls but not even a good one that would like i would venture.

Um, wow poor is not a good enough word but i cannot swear sooo.

This film is utter tripe purely to virtue signal about the current political climate, well most people who view movies want to escape that claptrap.

Oh and the paid for reviews for this film is just sad, pathetic and just reaffirms people's view that Hollywood is a self serving bunch of elitists that cannot take criticism.

10 of out 10 or 9 out 10, or you kidding me. Someone must of been paid to leave that or made the review for ideological reasons. Pathetic.

an attamtpt to undermine capitalism but axtually does the opposite.
17 January 2018
This film seems it was set up to prove that there was government overreach under capitalist democracy. Which could not be further from the truth. The reality is that the west is becoming more like a communist state where everything we do or say is judged and the if it is deemed wrong think, then the appropriate action is taken against the individual. A capitalist democracy does not care what the individual does unless it infringes on another's freedom. Under communism everything can be an infringement against another's personal world but not freedom. There is no freedom under communism. Socialism leads to communism, just ask Marx..... This film attempts to confront a subject but it actually shows the opposite to be true. Typical left wing bullshit from Hollywood. Watch 1984 to determine if you use wrong speak or wrong thought just like Hollywood wants to determine who you are....
