Run slow and talk low... or is it run low and talk slow
25 June 2008
This is a short video by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It is an instructional video where Dr. Russel Fell (Pegg) tells Nick Frost how to avoid a zombie attack from where to hide and how to kill a zombie. They also have a few a real zombies released in the wild so they can learn how to kill them

This puts a very comedic spin on the concept of zombies and is very enjoyable for the whole family! It just shows that even though Pegg and Frost were not household names before Shaun of the Dead, they were still very good at making films! This movie is just more proof of why Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are comic geniuses!

The Mist (2007)
5/10
Great Movies With a Horibly Stupid Ending
23 November 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The Mist is yet another movie from Stephen King. In a small town in Maine a strange mist covers the town. The movie follows a group of people who are trapped in a local market. As people try to go into the mist no one returns and there is a mysterious group of tentacles that reach into the store eventually they begin to fight back against the monsters in the mist and also have to deal with an annoying religious fanatic who convinces most of the store that it is judgment day.

I went into The Mist with low expectations (having just seen the horrible Steven King movie 1408, and I was pleasantly surprised... until the end. I was so disappointed with the ending I still can't believe it. I loved the movie until the ending. When the last fifteen- twenty minutes of the movie happen it all goes down hill from there. I can't even explain how disappointed I was with the ending, which was sad and disturbing. I can only hope that the DVD has alternate endings. If it were not for the ending of the movie I would have given the movie an eight. Wait until this movie is on DVD unless you like sad and depressing endings where most of your favorite characters will die.

The Best Movie Ever!
2 November 2007
Wedding Crashers had a great cast including Vince Vaughn (Dodgeball), Owen Wilson (Zoolander), and Will Ferrell (Anchorman). This movie centers around John Beckwith (Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vaughn) who are wedding crashers hence the title. They go from wedding to wedding to meet girls to sleep with. But everything changes when they crash that wedding of the daughter of the US Treasury Secretary William Cleary (Christopher Walken). When they arrive at the wedding John sees one of the secretary's daughter Claire (Rachael McAdams) and falls in love with her. At the same time Jeremy meets the secretary's third daughter Gloria (Isla Fisher). Gloria becomes obsessed with Jeremy and he labels her as "a stage 5 clinger." when they are invited to the secretary's summer home John wants to go so he can try to steal Claire from her boyfriend Sack (Bradley Cooper). After that the movie only gets better from there with other great characters including the secretary's wife, Kathleen (Jane Seymour), his son Todd (Keir O'Donnell), Grandma Cleary (Ellen Albertini Dow), and Father O'Neil (Henry Gibson).

I have always been a huge fan of the frat pack movies but this is by far my favorite. In fact Wedding Crashers is my favorite movies of all time. This is the kind of movie that is so funny that you can't remember all of the funny parts because there are so many. Wedding Crashers is not just a funny movie, it also has a great story to it. It is also a movie that you can watch over and over and never get tired or bored with it. Take my advice and buy this movie today, you won't regret it!

Fan of the show but not the movie
24 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is based on the television series from Comedy Central. In the movie the Reno sheriffs Department is invited to the Miami police convention. When they arrive, they discover that there was no spot made for them in the hotel and end up at a small, rundown hotel. The next morning they go to the convention and find out that all off the other police officers were poisoned and needed to be quarantined. So the Reno sheriffs department is put in charge of the city of Miami. This movie also has cameos from Dwayne Johnson, Paul Rudd, and Danny DeVito.

I was a fan of the TV show so I thought this movie would be funny, but I was wrong. The movie had a bad plot and was not very funny. If you laugh at the show do not expect to laugh at the movie.

This movie's off the chain!
24 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is from the guys who brought you Shaun of the Dead (Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost). In the movie Sgt. Nicholas Angel (Simon Pegg) is relocated to a city in the country named Sandford. There Sgt. angel is paired up with the action junkie Police officer Danny Butterman (Nick frost). In Sandford there has not been a recorded history in years but the accident rate is extremely high. But things start to change when Nick suspects the accidents are not accidents but murder and uncovers the town's very dark secret. There are also two uncredited appearances by a famous actor and director (Cate Blanchett and Peter Jackson).

I love this movie! I did not not get a chance to see it in the movie theaters but I liked Shaun of the Dead so much that I bought this movie without ever seeing it. It has a lot of really cool action sequences and some really funny jokes and situations. Buy this movie!

The Departed (2006)
10/10
The Departed is great!!!
18 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The Departed is about the Massachusetts State police trying to take down Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) who is head of the Irish Mafia. In the movie police officer Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) is under cover as a police officer for Costello so that he can tell Costello when the state police are close to finding him. Another state police officer named Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) is under cover as one of Costello's guys. Costigan is so deep undercover that he spends six months in jail and is made to look like he is kicked off then police force and the only people who know that he is still a police officer are Police officers Queenan and Dignam (Martin Sheen and Mark Wahlberg). The movie is about Costello trying to find the rat on his team and the cops trying to catch Costello and find the rat on their team.

I enjoyed The Departed very much. The movie had a very good story to it and a lot of good action. I bought the DVD without ever seeing the movie before and it was money well spent. This was one of the best movies I have ever sen and it deserves every Academy Award* is is nominated for. Though this movie is not for small children by any stretch of the imagination. In The Departed the "F" word is used almost every other sentence along with many other strong cuss words. This movie also has very strong graphic violence. Two more departed movies are in talks including a sequel and a prequel and Mark Wahlberg has already been approached for the sequel. I am very much anticipating the next two movies. in the Departed series.

*The Departed is Nominated for five Academy Awards including: -BestPicture -Best supporting Actor: Mark Wahlberg -Best Director:MartinScorsese -Best Adapted Screenplay (The Departed is a remake of Internal Affairs which is a movie from Hong Kong that was released in 2002 and has two sequels): William Monahan -Best achievement in editing: Thelma Schoonmaker

Ghost Rider (2007)
8/10
Exciting
18 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Ghost Rider is about stunt man Johnny Blaze (Nicholas Cage) who's father is dying of cancer. When Johnny finds this out that his father Barton Blaze is dying the devil or Mephistopheles (Peter Fonda) visits Johnny and offers his his father's heath for his soul. In the deal the Mephistopheles will leave Johnny alone until he needs him to do his bidding. Johnny excepts and the next morning his father is cured. But Mephistopheles tricked Johnny and during a stunt the next day Johnny's father dies. When Barton dies Johnny leaves the town and his girlfriend Roxanne Simpson (Eva Mendes) behind. When Johnny gets older he becomes a professional stunt man who travels the country doing dangerous stunts on his motorcycle without ever getting injured. When Roxanne comes back into Johnny's life everything changes. When Johnny is about to leave to meet Roxanne odd things start happening and Mephistopheles shows up. Mephistopheles' son Blackheart (Wes Bentley) shows up and wants to create hell on earth. Now Johnny is turned into Ghost Rider and must defeat Blackheart with the help of a cemetery caretaker (Sam Elliott) in order to win back his freedom from Mephistopheles.

Ghost Rider started out slow but eventually got very exciting. Although Ghost Rider was not as good as I had expected I still enjoyed it very much. Ghost Rider had a good story, a cool hero, cool bad guys and a lot of good action. Ghost Rider is not for little kids. Although it has very little swearing it still is very creepy for little kids mostly because of the bad guys and how Ghost Rider kills the bad guys (Ghost Rider makes his victims look into his eyes and see all of the evil they have ever done and makes them feel the pain). All in all the movie was very enjoyable.

Casino Royale (2006)
10/10
The Best movie of 2006
11 February 2007
Casino Royale is a prequel to all of the other James Bond movies. It tells how James Bond became 007 and even shows Bond meeting Felix Leiter (Played by Jeffery Wright). Daniel Craig stars as James Bond, Eva Green as Vesper Lynd, and Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre (the bad guy). This is about Bond trying to bring down and capture Le Chiffre who handles the money of terrorists and terrorist organizations by going under cover in a high stakes poker tournament. Casino Royale is filled with really, really exciting action sequences and plenty of double- crossing. Although this movie lacks some of the classic Bong gadgets you won't care when you see the spectacular action scenes.

I went to this movie thinking that Daniel Craig would not make a very good Bond but I was very wrong. Craig is now tied with Roger Moore as my favorite Bond of all time. I really enjoyed Casino Royale and it has become easily one of my favorite movies of all time.

A good war movie
11 February 2007
Flags of Our Fathers is about three U.S. soldiers (Adam Beach, Ryan Phillippe, and Jesse Bradford) who helped put up a flag at the battle of Iwo Jima during world War II. When they soldiers put the flag up it was the second one to be put up (the first had to be taken down to give to an arm general) but the photographer was only there for the second flag. the picture became famous and the three men were looked at as heroes. Flags of Our Fathers is about the struggle of the 3 soldiers, who traveled around the country selling war bonds, because the fame gets them since the men who put the first flag up were not recognized. They also have to deal with grieving family members want to know if their sons who died at Iwo Jima were in the picture.

I enjoyed the movie fore the most part. It was boring at times but the flash backs to the war were pretty action- packed and exciting. One of the things I did not like about the movie was that it alternated between scenes from after and before the war and it got a little hard to follow. But like I said before I did enjoy the movie for the most part and it was worth renting.

Snakes on a Plane is very exciting!
10 February 2007
Snakes on a Plane stars Samuel L. Jackson. This movies is about an FBI agent (Jackson) who is transporting a witness, who is going to testify against a very dangerous criminal named Eddie Kim, across the ocean on a plane. Eddie Kim wants the witness dead so his fills the plane with hundreds of snakes who have inhaled a pheromone that makes them extra prone to attack (Hence: snakes on a plane) I enjoyed Snakes on Plane.

Snakes on a Plane was very action packed an even contained a few lines of comic relief. But this movie is not for young kids or anyone who gets grossed out easily due to profanity and lots and lots of gore. This movie was well worth renting and If I saw it in the movie theater it would have still been worth the expansive price of the admission ticket.

Hollywoodland (2006)

Hollywoodland: Interesting but hard to follow
10 February 2007
Hollywoodland is the story about the mystery surrounding George Reeves's (played by Ben Affleck) death. George Reeves played Superman on TV in the 1950's. In the movie George Reeves is killed in his home, during a party. Reeves's death is, at first, ruled a suicide and the case is closed. But Louis Simo (played by Adrian Brody) reopens the case because he believes it was a homicide.

Hollywoodland was interesting and the acting was very good but the story was hard to follow and confusing. Throughout the whole movie it went back and forth between scenes from before and after the death of George Reeves All in all I did enjoy the movie and it was worth renting.

Miami Vice (2006)

Miami Vice is a disappointment
10 February 2007
Miami Vice is a remake from the 1980's show "Miami Vice." This movie is about two cops named James Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs (Played by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx) who are undercover to bust a group of drug smuggling murderers.

I expected this movie to be action packed and very exciting but it was not. There were only a few minor action sequences and it was a very hard movie to follow. I did not enjoy this movie very much and would not recommend paying to rent this movie. Try to find it at the library where you can rent it for free. I'm glad I didn't see this movie in the theater. This movie is also not for kids at all! The few action sequences in this movie are very violent and gory.

Night At The Museum is an awesome movie!!
4 January 2007
Night At The Museum is about a divorced father who can't hold a job. After losing job after job he is finally gets a job at The Museum of Natural History in New York City. During his first night on the job he finds out that everything at the museum comes to life at night. Now he hast to learn how to control everything at the museum and just get through the night.

Night At The Museum has something for everyone! It has fun things like dinosaurs and animals for kids and great jokes for adults including some good, old- fashioned slapstick comedy. But this movie is not only hilarious but also contains some fun action. This movie has jokes that adults and kids will like and it's still harmless for kids as young as four or five. If your looking for a fun family movie then Night At The Museum is for you!
