The Half of It (I) (2020)

Real disappoitment

First half was great: building relationship and I was wondering how will it end. Second... I do not understand how the friendship of two women had to be forcefully turn into lesbian romance? There were no hints that they were attracted to other women.

The ending neither shows nor teaches.

Men are shown as half-heads, and faith? There is no God and priests are literally crazy.

It could have been good movie about friendship and acceptance.

Underestimated thriller

It was the first anime series for a long time, which I gave up in half of the season. Unconvicing, lack of main thread, made of mismatched elements. It wasn't wasted time, but there are much better series.

I Am the Night (2019)

Great portrait of American society of 60s

Racism, fight of Afroamericans for their rights, social inequalities... For me it was the best part of this series. Besides it has "something" which keeps you watching.

I have read Shining and watched Kubrick's adaptation. Which was great IMO. Here we have good movie, but it hasn't even a piece of madness of Kings novels. You can watch it, but you'll easily find better movie for evening.

To be honest. It is not one of ambitious. Here we have juicy violence. And it tastes excellent.

Highly recommend. Cant wait to watch next parts.

However if you are Otaku change the grade to 9/10. Very immersive, very inventive, and very Japanese (requirement for beach outfit? Insane!). Highly recommended!

Better Than Us (2018–2019)

Pretty good series, about humanity, robotics and (apparently) close future. Are robots going to replace people? However, it is philosophical in very limited way.

Plot focuses on Arisa, new generation robot. I liked story, but I think it was too elongated.

Big number of threads - that's advantage.

Annoying, and mostly stupid, characters. Especially main (Kirill Karo). And its another Netflix series with him as protagonist. For me it is discouraging.

No Time to Die (2021)

But you will know after watching. I had a real fun watching this movie, especially at the beginning on chase scenes (riding on the bike on the wall, wow).

I don't know when this 2,5 h passed. I was just like kid, with big smile on my face. However, I think that there were too little time devoted to the main antagonist (another great performance of Rami Malek, btw). And minus for ending, it's obvious.

It's about hard love. I agree with both kind reviews: enthusiast and that's about disfunctional love based on lust. Characters acts with no sense often... But this is love, isn't it?

Love in hard times. That's why they pay disproportionately high price for being together. I have mixed feelings about that film, because of main plot. What I liked about this film was MUSIC. I loved jazz in smoky clubs. And showing history. How the world can affect one's life.

And on the other hand it shows the great strength of friendship and dedication.

Don't waste your time

Only good thing about this serial (S01) is showing what people really are when it comes to surviving.

Infection in few seconds? Unconvincing. Special effects? Poor. Characters? Boring and uninteresting. Plot? Predictable.

Watch only if you REALLY don't have anything else.

Some poor short review

It's a film about loneliness. Every character was craving for filling of unnamed void by being with other person. And fulfilment never happens.

And it disputes with peoples' dream about immortality. Message of the movie is that life has sense and one can find happiness, when life ends in some point.

And I loved costumes!
