Shrek (2001)

Nice, happy and innocent...

I loved to watch this movie, it was so soft!!!... You know what I mean? I was use to watch complex movies, showing terrible things about our society! On this movie was different, I came out of the Theater with a happy smile on my face. It was very nice watching this movie! My idea was to watch Eddie Murphy's character, Donkey. It was just like him!!! I love it! Steven S. is doing a fantastic work at his "Dream Works productions"!

Congratulations Mr. Steven!!!!!

April Captains (2000)

Portuguese spirit story!

You know? Our spirit is based on that revolution, it's asleep... I can explain, I think!! Well... Until that happen on 25th April 1974, our freedom was limited, we didn't had liberty of speech, but when we got it at the revolution, it seems that Portuguese People lost his opinion, we don't use our liberty of speech! That's all a consequence of the revolution! I think that's clear!... About the movie... I think that it has a few mistakes on some character's acting, but by the way I use to watch on Portuguese movies it's quite good!! I like it very much!

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)

The explanation...

This movie it's for everyone who like to go to the circus!!! Get it? I think that when the Episode II come out, it will explain a lot the whole fantastic George Lucas's story, because it's the beginning of a complex story. All that confusion with whose father is, who is the father of Luke... all the explanation starts here, in this confused movie. But it has it explication of it confusion: The mysterious looking of the young kid to the princess; the demoniac expression of the kid; the exaggeration centered on the kid(he is so strong, his Force is terrific, he is The Chosen, he is everything...). This is to show us his power that he will use... My final opinion is: we can't watch only this movie unknowing the rest of the story, otherwise we'll think, like I said at first place, that this movie is a silliness! This is an Explanation!!

Pearl Harbor (2001)

ENEMIES AT THE GATES of Pearl Harbor

This movie is a perfect (I think) representation of the famous morning of 7th December 1941 on Pearl Harbor. The 40 minutes of Japanese attack are the greatest minutes of the whole 194 minutes of this movie. The scenery is the best I have seen: a lot of boats, persons and Japanese planes. The story is a mix of Brave Heart, Enemies At The Gates and Titanic. The writer (Randall Wallace) is the same as Brave Heart, great movie. He (Wallace) starts to presents two young friends who dream to became "warriors", as he had presented us on Brave Heart(William Wallace, he didn't dream to be, he was pushed to be by the English), then this little boys became men, and "warriors" as William Wallace. And now we mix this story with Titanic and Enemies At The Gates, and this two men fall in love with the same woman, as on Enemies At The Gates, the romanticism of this movie make us remember the romanticism of Titanic, one very romantic story in a middle of a human disaster. After the "great" Japanese attack, The U. S. government decides to attack Japan. On this American attack we have two heroes, as on Brave Heart (one). The story have it originality, but make us remember a lot other movies.

Finally, I think this movies is a great American movie, but it could be better. Not like Intimacy or Freedom, Pearl Harbor is different, it's easiest to understand the message and it's to entertain us. Intimacy and Freedom are two movies to appreciate like a painting.

Enemy at the Gates (2001)

Almost Perfect

This movie is great!!! A great demonstration of war. I mean, real war, lots of bodies, lots of pain, lots of destruction and a hero, that really had exist... Ho!! Great story. A perfect picture that show us what really was that war. A war very important to our present conscience!!! But... It miss something in this movie, that make it almost perfect. Certainly, the "best" war movie I ever seen!!!
