Stanley Kubrick?? More like Ed Wood
30 January 2024
This is an absolutely dreadful film. It was only an hour long, but it felt way longer.

To think the very same person who directed this film went on to become a truly iconic director is almost unbelieveable.

It's bad...REALLY BAD. Not "so bad, it's good" bad, it's "so bad, it's probably the worst film you'll ever see" bad. You will literally watch the entire movie saying to yourself, "I can't believe this guy went on to direct 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket, and so many other classics."

I can see why Kubrick hated this piece and did everything he could to distance himself from it.

Not funny...
11 July 2022
I love good old films. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

The cast and premise seemed to have a lot of promise but both are wasted by a terrible plot and a script full of terrible jokes and gags.

With all the choices available to stream these days, don't waste two hours on this very poor piece of celluloid.

Trust me, you've seen this one before....

Formulaic and predictable. Not a great film by any stretch of the imagination, but not terrible either. The playing scenes looked poorly staged. I was left with the impression, "looks like Adam Sandler is friends with a lot of current and ex-NBA players...and the majority of then can't act worth a damn."

A dreadful film...

For the life of me, I can not understand why this movie was made or what message it is trying to send. Quite simply, this film should not be watched by anyone, anywhere, at any time.

A pretty terrible film....
21 January 2022
In its time, I'm sure this was considered a pretty provocative, salacious, cutting edge piece of cinema. However, it has not aged well at all and does not live up to its reputation as a must-see because of its one of the first "main stream" films to frankly display nudity and sexuality. Truth is, I'm surprised it was ever well recieved as it seems completely disjointed and devoid of plot, narrative, and characters.

"Good Sam"? How about "Bad House"....
13 January 2022
This is just a bad "House, M. D." copy cat. I get it, everyone misses Dr. House. He was a great character portrayed by an even greater actor. (I think Hugh Laurie should be in every show...but that's just me.) So while I appreciate that imitation is the greatest form of flattery, this seems more like a parody. A poorly written, poorly acted, and borderline unwatchable parody. Take a pass and pray for a House reboot.

Very creepy, but not very good.

Warning: Spoilers
If you like Kevin Costner as John Dutton in Yellowstone you might be tempted to watch this film.

I would suggest fighting that urge.

In fact, I kept wondering why he didn't call Rip and Kaycee to sort the whole mess out.

With all the entertainment options streaming these days, there are a lot of better choices to make than this.

By far, the worst adaptation ever produced...
9 December 2021
A Christmas Carol is quite possibly the greatest piece of fiction ever written. A story of rehabilitation that shows that even the most isolated and bitter can find redemption and be welcomed back into the arms of family, friends, and society at large.

Unfortunately, this loathsome version seems far too eager to focus (and embellish) on Scrooge's sinister persona and past.

Definitely a hard pass....

Ugh......
3 December 2021
Last year, it was just bad. This year it has become basically unwatchable.

The real sin is that the show has a lot of talented actors who are being tasked with horrible plots and terrible scripts.

I would be shocked if it makes it to season three.

Warning: Spoilers
They reference Europe at war in 1937 (the year the film was supposedly made.)

World War Two began in Europe in 1939.

I'd like to think this isn't a hoax, but more of an homage. Unfortunately, it's not very good in either case.

The only way thuis show could be less realistic is if it was set on the moon....

As an employee of a major healthcare system in New York City, my biggest fear is that people may believe this show even remotely represents how hospitals actually function on every level, from patient care to administration.

Simply put...it is not just unrealistic, it is utterly ridiculous.

Tracy, March, and Kelly at the top of their games working on one of the best scripts ever written. This is one of the films by which all films should be judged.

Not worth the time....

It's a bizarro-world reboot of The Gilmore Girls...only in this version all the teenagers are obnoxious, hypersexualized drunks and the mom is a grifter.

Just not very good, at all....
16 February 2021
The characters are very one-dimensional and not particularly likeable. Everyone has a fairly robust libido coupled with a complete lack of discretion, judgement, or comprehension of potential repercussions. Additionally, the characters are completely bereft of feelings of fidelity, loyalty, and responsibility to friends and family (except, of course, between the lead actresses.)

In a television universe already oversaturated with animation, this show offers nothing original, interesting, or entertaining.

It's a hard pass.

Too dark for Christmas
24 December 2020
I admire FX and BBC for attempting to flesh out Ebenezer Scrooge as a far more nuanced and complex character, but it seemed unnecessarily vulgar, profane, and sordid.

In the end, Dickens' version of Scrooge's background as shown by the Spirit of Christmas Past doesn't need a modern day embellishment.

The added details only serve to make this version of one of the greatest stories ever written into a tale that is far too dark for Christmas.

Painful to watch
27 July 2020
Dreadful...boring...completely unrealistic.

Everyone involved in creating this film should be punished by making them watch it on a continuous loop for the rest of their natural lives.

Great premise....terrible execution.

The dialogue, acting, and directing were horrid. I could barely make it through the first 15 minutes before shutting it off.

Great premise.....HORRIFIC execution. Even the normally wonderful Hugh Laurie can save this disaster.

HBO would have been better served to throw a boatload of money at him to reboot "House M.D."!!
