"What are you still doing here? There's nothing left but a pack of wolves." Indican has debuted an official trailer for an indie comedy titled The Fox Hunter, the latest from filmmaker Patrick Shanahan. This has gone under a few other titles including The Hounds of Dixie and Cotton, but will be released with this final title. It's about a Southern family of blue-blood media moguls that falls apart "at the crossroads of past and progress in matters of death, wealth, love and American journalism." The comedy stars Reece Thompson, Madison Iseman, Beth Broderick, Brooke Butler, Olivia Grace Applegate, Benjie Anderson, Frieda Jane, Ira David Wood III, Michael Rupnow, and John Lescault. This looks a lot like Knives Out, but without a murder mystery, instead with way more quirky satire. And a bit of a Wes Anderson vibe. Although it's dark and gruesome, it's hard to not become obsessed with HBO's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's mystery thriller Sharp Objects. It flaunts dreamy visual language, chilling nonlinear storytelling, and, of course, an incredibly talented cast. Besides the obvious headliners like Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson, you'll even recognize the talented forces behind minor characters, like Adora's chatty friend Annie.
In the fourth episode of the HBO series, Camille meets up with her mother's friends, who engage in wine-fueled gossip about Wind Gap's recent deaths. In the circle of women, pearl-donning Annie is especially enthusiastic about making speculations, demanding that Camille spill tea about the case. Veteran creative executives Rick French and Patrick Shanahan are partnering with Buddy Holly’s widow on “Clear Lake,” depicting Holly’s 1958 music tour with Clarence Collins, Variety has learned exclusively.
French is the chairman and CEO of North Carolina-based marketing firm French/West/Vaughan and Shanahan is the founder and president of Denim Buffalo Films. They have teamed to form Prix Productions, with French serving as managing partner focused on IP acquisition, financing, and production, and Shanahan focused on writing and directing.
“Clear Lake” is being produced in association with Holly’s widow, Maria Elena Holly; the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation; and BMG, which manages the Holly Estate intellectual property and U.S. music publishing rights.
