Caroline Leruth doesn't have medical training. But when the pharmaceutical executive from Raleigh, North Carolina, heard bombs exploding at the Brussels Zaventem Airport last Tuesday, she sprung into action, channeling life-saving tactics drawn from watching her favorite television show, NCIS. "In a fraction of a second you turn on 'hyper mode,' " Leruth, 52, tells People. "All your senses are heightened. You see much farther and more than you would under normal circumstances. Your hearing and sense of smell are much more fine-tuned." Leruth, who claims both Belgian and American nationality, was at the airport to fly to Philadelphia when the first explosion occurred.

The tenth annual Frigid Festival continues apace in New York City's East Village, and in our second of two dispatches from it, we discuss comedies by three solo performers, whose exploits take the audience to places including Canada's "best city," a Mormon mission to Argentina, and one of the least relaxing mudbaths ever. We are touching on only a fraction of the 30 shows in this year's festival, but more information can be found on the Frigid New York website, where there is also a deal available that gets you into three shows for just $30. Frigid is proud to be the only NYC festival that gives all proceeds for ticket sales to the actors and creative team behind each show. The show with the highest box office will receive an encore performance at the end of the festival, and audiences are encouraged to vote for their favorite shows.

Congratulations to Wendy Lidell, whom we have known during her outstanding career spanning over 25 years, for being appointed as the Kino Lorber'snew Senior Vice President, Theatrical Distribution and Acquisitions.
As the head of Kino Lorber’s theatrical division, Ms. Lidell will oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s theatrical and non-theatrical slate, over 25 films per year, reporting directly to CEO Richard Lorber. Reporting to her are the company’s current team: Jonathan Hertzberg, Director of Theatrical Sales (who will continue to handle film bookings nationwide), Sylvia Savadjian, Director of Marketing, and Rodrigo Brandão, VP of Marketing and Publicity.
In addition to her new duties, Lidell will work directly with Richard Lorber to drive new business opportunities for the company, including identifying new content acquisitions and strategic growth areas.
She previously worked with Richard Lorber when he acquired International Film Circuit in 1998, to become the theatrical division of his company Fox Lorber. While at Fox Lorber, which later became Wellspring Media, Lidell released six to eight titles per year, including Alexander Sokurov’s "Russian Ark", François Ozon’s "Under the Sand", starring Charlotte Rampling, "Yi Yi“ by Edward Yang (named Best Film of the Year by the National Society of Film Critics), and "On the Ropes" (nominated for a documentary Academy Award).
After returning to International Film Circuit in 2004, Lidell released dozens of films, including "Don't Move," starring Penelope Cruz, "Darwin's Nightmare," which earned her a second documentary Academy Award nomination, and "Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg, "which joined the elite group of documentaries that have grossed over $1 million theatrically. Other notable successes included "My Perestroika," "The Waiting Room," Nancy Spielberg’s "Above and Beyond" and "Sholem Aleichem: Laughing in the Darkness."
“It’s a very happy opportunity for Kino Lorber and me, personally, to work with Wendy again,” said Kino Lorber CEO Richard Lorber. “She has distinguished herself as a brilliant forward thinking film executive and passionate entrepreneur in our challenging environment, regularly acquiring and bringing to screen films of exceptional quality and commercial promise. In all my earlier years working with her, she never disappointed me – while her eye for quality and intelligence of execution never failed her. We couldn’t be more pleased to have her lead our theatrical team into the future. “
“It will be an enormous pleasure to join the Kino Lorber team,” wrote Wendy Lidell. “There are few film companies that combine a passion for great cinema with the business acumen required to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing distribution landscape. Together, I hope we can continue for many years to bring more great films to bigger and more diverse audiences.”
Current and upcoming released from Kino Lorber include Amos Gitai’s "Rabin, the Last Day, Jia Zhangke’s "Mountains May Depart," Jayro Bustamante's "Ixcanul," and "Sons My Brother Taught Me. "...

Super Mario Maker allows fans to their own stages. It highlights both Nintendo's design brilliance and how difficult course-building is...
It was difficult to hold back a minor ripple of cynicism when Super Mario Maker was given 2015 as its release date. In the place of such wonderful games as Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo decided it wanted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its biggest franchise with... a construction kit? Wouldn't that be like celebrating, say, 75 years of The Beatles by releasing an official ringtone? Isn't it a bit like Nintendo throwing a load of components in a box and saying, "Here you go. You want a Super Mario anniversary game? Build one yourself"?
Super Mario Maker is, it turns out, a far more fitting tribute to Nintendo's leaping mascot than we'd initially expected. Not only is it so much more than a mere level editor,...

BBC One released the first official photo from the upcoming "Sherlock" Christmas special, which shows stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman looking dapper in Victorian-era clothes.
Rumblings about the time period of the special began when the actors were spotted in these outfits while filming, and co-creator Steven Moffat confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the 90-minute episode would be a one-off set in the late 1800s.
"The special is its own thing," he said. "It's not part of the run of three episodes. So we had this to do it - as we could hardly conceal - it's Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be separate entity on its own. It's kind of in its own little bubble."

The BBC has released a photo of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman in their old school and period appropriate Sherlock Holmes and John Watson costumes for an upcoming standalone Christmas special of "Sherlock".
Unlike the modern day reimagining, which gets a full new season next year, the new special is set to take place in the Victorian era. Further information about the special and the new season are expected later today at the show's Comic-Con panel which executive producers Steven Moffat and Sue Vertue are attending.

Joel Williams received an emotional surprise, as his mother entered the Big Brother house as part of this week's shopping task.
In highlights airing tonight (June 18), the housemates must freeze in place when they hear the 'Time Warp' machine activating.
During one of the activations, Joel's mum Suzanne arrives and goes up to her son.
"Don't move, Joel. Don't react. You're doing a fantastic job, babe. You're absolutely winning it. We're loving you at home," she says, before revealing that there is a pregnancy in the family.
Suzanne continues: "Your slut drop was fantastic! Keep it going. Keep it real. You're being true to yourself and true to the housemates... I love you. I'm proud of you."
Before she leaves, she walks over to Marc O'Neill and kisses his cheek, saying: "Thanks for looking after my boy."
Big Brother continues tonight on Channel 5.

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.
This may be the wrong way to wake up, but in the video below you can watch tarantulas crawl all over Jimmy Fallon.
On Monday night, Jimmy had a visit from Jeff Musial's animal kingdom, including an adorable Siberian lynx, a red kangaroo, and a couple of Mexican white and red-kneed tarantulas. Jimmy looked uncomfortable through the whole thing, even before Jeff randomly put a tarantula on his shoulder. Jimmy kept repeating, "I don't like spiders," but apparently Jeff got the Ok from someone because he kept adding tarantulas onto his head, face and hand. Poor Jimmy looked traumatized. It didn't help that Jeff kept shouting "Don't move!

She’s one of the most gifted actors of her generation, but even Chloe Moretz comes up against insurmountable challenges from time to time.
The “Hugo” actress dropped by “Chelsea Lately” last night (August 19) to talk about her new movie “If I Stay,” including the fact that she actually didn’t play any of the cello parts in the film.
Moretz confessed, "I tried to learn the cello for seven months, but then I realized it's much harder than any other instrument, so I couldn't really learn it.”
“So then they just kind of cut my head off and put it onto another girl's body. So I'd be doing scenes and my hands are by my sides and I'm [trying to] act like I'm playing the cello with my head. And they're like, 'Don't move your body!' It looks so good!"...

Don't move. Do you feel that? There it is again. The (Marvel) universe is expanding. Who needs Earth when we've got an entire galaxy that needs guarding? This weekend Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters, and it's a superhero movie because Marvel says so. To most it will look like a science fiction space opera borrowing from Star Wars, Galaxy Quest and of course the comics it is based on. Here's the thing, if you look closely, you'll notice a similar pattern of a group of individuals disliking each other, but eventually realizing they need each other to accomplish a similar goal. That's right, we've been here before. In 2012 we were treated to Marvel's The Avengers. Can you compare the films? Of course, and that's exactly what we're...

Here's a fantastically made horror short film that you'll want to watch called Don't Move. It was directed by Anthony Melton from a script written by David Scullion. It's another entry in the Bloody Cuts anthology of short horror movies. This is an awesome film, and I liked the concept. Here's a little description...
Set on one fateful night, six friends gather for their monthly ‘games night’… and accidentally unleash a demonic force that might tear them - and their friendships - to pieces.
For those of you like me who enjoy the horror genre, you're going to enjoy this.

We've made no secret of our love for British anthology series Bloody Cuts. The team is assembling 13 short films to put together into one large project. And all the films have been outstanding. However, with Don't Move the Bloody Cuts team has outdone themselves.
Made in association with Millennium F/X, Don't Move is an amazing short film. The guys at Bloody Cuts have proven time and time again that they can build tension, but they do it better than ever in this picture. You will be absolutely blown away by the effects in this film. It contains a monster that is better quality than almost anything you've seen in feature films in years, and the death scenes are top notch. And by the way, the last death is absolutely stunning. Don't Move is a damn near perfect short film. #Awesome!
