The devastation continues. But there are still simple ways to pitch in. Scott Harrison of Charity Water is asking that all current donations be made straight to two affiliated partner charities. Wyclef Jean suggests texting "Yele" to 501501 to automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund. It will be charged to your cell phone bill. If you prefer donating your money to someone who is actually in Haiti, send Ms. Alison Thompson -- filmmaker and relief effort worker who helped rebuild an entire village in Sri Lanka, documented in her award-winning documentary The Third Wave -- a PayPal payment through her new website with Sean Penn entitled J/P Hro. And check out my friends at One.org for practical relief efforts. peace, Dusty

The son of a concert pianist and trumpeter, Bulgarian-born, Austrian-trained composer Mario Grigorov has been creating film music for two decades, having become particularly busy in the last ten years or so. Among his movie credits are Leonardo Ricagni’s 29 Palms (1999) and El chevrolé (2002), Alison Thompson’s documentary The Third Wave: A Volunteer Story (2007), additional music for Alex Gibney’s Oscar-winning Iraq War documentary Taxi to the Dark Side, and a number of short films. Grigorov’s other music credits include the albums "Rhymes with Orange" and "Aria on Café del Mar," musical scores for numerous commercial outlets, and even playing in the Shah’s Symphony Orchestra in Iran, where Grigorov lived for six years. "Both on disc and onstage," [...]...

Actor Bill Pullman will receive the prestigious Cassavetes Award at the Starz Denver Film Festival on the last day of the festival, November 23. In addition to accepting his award, the star will bring his new movie, "Surveillance," directed by Jennifer Chambers Lynch, daughter of David Lynch.
Indie fans have come to love Pullman from his movies "Bottle Shock" and "The End of Violence."
Also at the festival will be Cedar Daniels, son of Denver rocker Chris Daniels, who is bringing his documentary "The Third Wave" to the festival on November 22 and 23. Cedar edited the movie, which details the 2004 tsunami in Sri Lanka.
Word on the street is that when Daniels screened the film at the Cannes Film Fest, jury president Sean Penn went wild for it and said it was the type of movie that inspires the very best in people. "Just when we need that most, and [the film] comes as...

- I had this nagging problem that only got worse twenty minutes before I landed from my plane ride. Left ear popped and I've been walking around for the past three days with what felt like sea water stuck in there. The best time to take care of something like this is earlier than later, and the best time to do so is on a crappy weather day filling the streets with poke your eye out umbrellas. A quick trip to the drugstore and then a quick trip upstairs to the doctor and I have a remedy in hand - it only drives home Michael Moore's Sicko message. The photo above - is the ocean front which now looks like a filled parking space compared to what we had (count them on one hand) a couple of days. I imagine that the private yacht parties have started - and

- Surprise, surprise! Last week’s misleading speculations of titles pulling out and the odd closer for the 61st edition of the Cannes film festival were indeed debunked. Soderbergh's pair of Che films (The Argentine and Guerrilla) come as a possible four-hour epic (hopefully with at least one pee break), Woody Allen takes another out of comp slot with Vicky Cristina Barcelona and so far, there are no opening or closing titles announced. Unlike last year’s edition, this is a loaded with world preems year with the exception being Marina Zenovich's Roman Polanski docu. Films that were to be expected were confirmed, Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s comes with a differently titled film that will take some getting used to from the former "Daydreams" to Three Monkeys, Charlie Kaufman’s Synecdoche, New York was a shoe-in since it was first introduced at last year’s Cannes, native Arnaud Desplechin
