In this companion piece to An Evening At The Eyegores, we at FM take you on a textual walkthrough of Universal Studios’ terrifying transformation into Halloween Horror Nights.
Every year Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights keep getting bigger and better as more and more bloodthirsty souls flock at Universal’s gates to get the living daylights scared out of them. This year the Terminator and WaterWorld theaters sat dark and empty as we said goodbye to the Rocky Horror tribute and Slaughterworld, but new sections of the park sprang to life as the sun went down with the arrival of six haunting mazes and five terrifying “Scare Zones.”
Be warned, you’ll have to wait in an incredibly long line to get to go through any of the mazes, so try going on a Thursday or Sunday night to avoid the crowds – an idea Universal is trying to promote by...

Last night, Universal Studios celebrated the opening of its Halloween Horror Nights with the Eyegore Awards – the annual ceremony which honors the creme de la creme of the horror genre.
Emceed by Corey Feldman, the evening brought us appearances by Rob Zombie, Thomas Jane, James Gunn, Adam Green, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Calico Cooper, and Brian Gott (the Publisher of Variety) as this year’s batch of Eyegore Awards were presented to the House Of 1000 Corpses star Rainn Wilson, Scream stars David Arquette and Jamie Kennedy, Don’T Be Afraid Of The Dark star Bailee Madison, Frozen star Emma Bell, and the great Alice Cooper.
The Eyegore’s weren’t the only excitement of the evening, though. Chainsaws revved throughout the night as blood-covered clowns roamed Universal, terrorizing guests as they made their way to the park’s six screamtacular mazes (The Thing: Assimilation, Eli Roth’s Hostel: Hunting Season,...

It's that time of year again. No, not back to school time or the start of the NFL season. I can't argue that both of those events do bring a smile to my face, but I'm talking about something rooted much deeper in the darkness. I'm talking about the announcement of the Eyegore Award winners!
The Eyegore Awards are given by Universal Studios Hollywood during the grand opening of their Hollywood Horror Nights to honor winners who have been standouts in the horror field. Let me give you some clues as to a few of this year's winners…We've got a guy named after a witch, a paper salesman and the dude who landed the hottest chick ever while sporting the cheesiest mustache ever. Did you guess Alice Cooper, Rainn Wilson and David Arquette? Give yourself a pat on the back if you did. Huzzah! Joining that threesome are Jamie Kennedy,...

Next to getting loaded at costume parties, the best part of Halloween is the haunted attractions, and Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights has long been king of the mountain. Every year creative director John Murdy and his team have consistently topped themselves, and their 2011 park boasts a record number of mazes: The Thing: Assimilation, Alice Cooper: Welcome to My Nightmare, Hostel: Hunting Season, The Wolfman: The Curse of Talbot Hall, the Mexican folklore themed La Llorona: Villa de Almas Perdidas, and the grand return of Rob Zombie’s House of 1000 Corpses.
A few weeks before the big launch, the press usually come down to Universal Studios Hollywood to get teased with video promos, dances and auditions. This year Universal decided to do things a little differently and invited us in to get a behind-the-scenes look at the park’s elaborate gore and make-up FX. As John Murdy greeted us,...

Step right up, step right up. Come one and all to the most gruesome show on Earth. Often imitated, but never duplicated, the one-of-a-kind Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights tickets are on sale now and a myriad of malevolent mazes await any traveler who dares to enter. Mwah-ha-ha.
Okay, okay, enough of the carnival barker. In all seriousness, this looks to be quite the impressive Halloween creation at Halloween Horror Nights Universal Studios Hollywood. The resume of the maze architects cannot be argued.
The superbeast himself, Rob Zombie and his creation, Rob Zombie's House of 1,000 Corpses in 3D Zombievision is one of the highlights of the event. I have no idea what the hell 3D Zombievision is, but I know I want to see it!

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood has already enlisted the devious minds of Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper and Eli Roth to design horror-themed mazes for this year's festivities. They’ve now dug deep into Mexican folklore for the inspiration for their newest maze, La Llorona: Villa De Almas Perdidas (Village of Lost Souls).
For those of you unfamiliar with the twisted tale of La Llorona, apparently it has to do with a mother who drowns her children trying to win the love of a man. (What the H?!) When said man did not return her romantic overtures (can't imagine why after she drowns her children), she drowns herself; and now her spirit roams the countryside, drenched and screaming for her children. (Wait, what?) Yeah, that's creepy.
And fans of Latino heartthrobs will be happy to hear that Mexican-based film star Diego Luna will be assisting in the constructing of the attraction.
