Welcome back, Hope Valley

After the last two seasons of confusion, this was a great start. I liked the opening with Elizabeth journaling, we were reminded right away why we like Hope Valley and would like to live there - that community spirit.

Good things: Lee Coulter is back at the saw mill, hallelujah, finally a storyline for him that makes sense - last season his story was muddled and confused, so it's refreshing to have him back to, well, being himself. And I just love he and Rosemary together- they have their groove back! And it's so wonderful to see her pregnant. She's just glowing and I love that sense of parenthood being a "big adventure". Great job with their arc as a couple- we are so onboard!

Quote of the episode: "Oh, Lee! We are on a big adventure." -Rosemary

Another great thing: Love Joseph and Minnie, he's finally got a decent storyline too, between being Lee's right hand man and the Pastor. Yay.

Also love the "gal" trio: Faith, Fiona, and Mei. I think this is pretty great to have the three single ladies living together and supporting each other as friends. Wonderful girl power, which speaks to all the single ladies out there. Great job on creating this "sista-mance" that's just so beautiful onscreen.

And the biggest highlight for me: Nathan and Allie. Wow, so great to see them back together. They just light up the screen. Loved the teasing interaction when Allie tells him to seize the day. Loved the dancing together as father and daughter. And I really really loved the way she leaned back on him, and he supported her, when Elizabeth read her poem to the community. It was lovely to see them together after so many few moments last season. Thank you for taking their arc to the next level! We are so here for it.

Oh, and how could I forget- Scout! Such a great and funny addition. I just love these humorous moments - Kevin McGarry can pull them off so perfectly! The look on his face when he was handed the leash. Classic Hope Valley moment. And I laughed so hard when Allie came in and "adopted" him. No way Nathan is getting rid of him now lol.

The one lowlight for me is still Lucas and Elizabeth, although I have to be honest, he is growing on me. I do like his effort to help the community. He's showing real growth, which is encouraging. Though, I'm a little worried why they aren't agreeing on the wedding plans.

But, overall, I am pleased with the premier. The writers came out swinging, with great new stories (that actually make sense), and they immediately reminded us why we love Hope Valley. Old characters found their way back to "themselves", and new friendships were made. The community has regained it's place at the "center" (thank you so much for this wonderful community dinner!), and "family" was championed. Welcome back, Hope Valley!
