Poll: IMDb Poll Board Movies That Promote Understanding

From 1945 until 1963 there was a Golden Globe category for 'Best Film Promoting International Understanding'. You can see the winners HERE. In these troubled times it's very important that we show national and international understanding so that we can unite. So maybe we need a come back of this award category.

The IMDb poll board members have chosen important movies that show understanding. Which movie do you think does the best job of promoting understanding?

    Capernaum (2018)

It's a beautiful heartbreaking movie that made me understand the struggles of refugees, the lifestyle of those living in the slums of Lebanon, and how lucky I am to get food on the table and a place to sleep.

    The Florida Project (2017)

This exquisite film promotes understanding of the experience of poverty, subjugation of women, and child abuse and neglect, and how these issues are deeply connected. It does so in such a personal, poignant, and so often enjoyable way, however, that it doesn't ever feel preachy or academic. You'll fall in love with a little girl and be so enchanted by the innocence and humor of childhood that you won't even notice that you're becoming a better person.

    Joker (2019)

All my life I knew that Batman is the superhero and the Joker is the villain, until I saw this movie.... I learned that it's not what it seems and it's not that black/white. There are two sides to the story.

    The Grand Illusion (1937)

Follows the relationship between a group of French war prisoners and their German prison guard, showing that despite their countries differences they could respect and appreciate each other. It is specially important as this was a cry for peace, just as World War Two was about to begin.
