January 2017 marks the 60th anniversary of Humphrey Bogart's death. He was an epitome of coolness - not least for playing two of fiction's most famous private eyes, each in only one movie: Sam Spade in The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Philip Marlowe in The Big Sleep (1946).
