As a Gen Xer who grew up fascinated by The Six Million Dollar Man and in turn tuned in for Lee Majors’ The Fall Guy, I walked into the Ryan Gosling/Emily Blunt movie this weekend with a certain excitement, but also tempered expectations.
As a rule, I don’t read reviews before seeing a movie. But I’d glimpsed enough headlines and social media chatter to know that The Fall Guy was only (very) “loosely” based on the ABC action series that ran for five seasons. I like Gosling, love Blunt and enjoy stunt work, so I decided to take a flyer on this.

One day after the release of her third studio album, Radical Optimism, Dua Lipa pulled double duty as host and musical guest of Saturday Night Live. Though her overall screen time constituted over 36% of the May 4 episode, her specific sketch time of less than 16 minutes is the lowest for a Season 49 host so far.
Scroll down to see how Lipa stacked up against each of the show’s named performers, including surprise guests Jerry Seinfeld and Troye Sivan. Note that our screen time data is calculated using a method that prioritizes face time, meaning that any contiguous (off-screen but in-scene) moments and practically all partial body appearances do not count. Screen time in the show’s opening credits, bumpers and goodnights are not included, nor do those portions factor into our assessment of the episode’s total running time.

Chance Perdomo’s “Gen V” character Andre Anderson will not be recast for Season 2 of “The Boys” spinoff series.

Sound the alarm — Chicago Fire is hitting 250 episodes. The firefighter drama that kicked off Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise on NBC back in 2012 is still going strong in Season 12. In a Today interview from 2021 — when Chicago Fire was celebrating its 200th episode — star Taylor Kinney attributed the show’s success to the “sense of family” and the “chemistry of the cast” that Wolf, an executive producer, helped cultivate. “People see the way we get along,” he said. “It’s a tight-knit group.” But which episodes are the best of the best? Discounting episodes from the ongoing 12th season, the following installments comprise the top 10, according to average ratings from IMDb voters. Katt Williams, never afraid of being bold, declared maybe his boldest mission yet in Katt Williams: Woke Foke. “I don’t just tell Black secrets,” he warned the crowd at one point during his new Netflix comedy special, which streamed live on May 4 as part of Netflix Is a Joke Fest. “I tell white secrets, too. ‘Cause we’re all family.”
He meant it. The King of Underground Comedy shared his sharp, pointed observations and lessons in his trademark rapid-fire style. Arriving on stage at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, wearing a custom Woke Foke medallion necklace, he went after just about everyone and everything: why being “woke” itself is hardly bad, (toxic) masculinity, the “Illuminati,” Trump, Biden, Ron DeSantis, Nick Cannon, Jamie Foxx, Oprah, Ozempic — naming names and (literally) showing pictures, at least when he didn’t look desperate to catch a breath between all the curveball punchlines.

First off, the bad news — if you’re NCIS‘ Kasie Hines, that is. The “feng shui” makeover that the team’s forensic scientist excitedly gave her lab in the most recent episode of the CBS drama is not a keeper, as you (and a sun-blinded Parker) may have suspected.

There was a mic drop moment at the end of an event in New York City celebrating 30 years of “The X-Files” when series creator Chris Carter reignited the debate around Dana Scully’s pregnancy.
Towards the end of “My Struggle IV,” the series finale episode in Season 11, Scully (Gillian Anderson) informs Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) that William (Miles Robbins) is not their son. He was an “experiment,” an “idea born in a laboratory” that she bore, Scully says. Here’s a little observation, bordering on an axiom, which has slowly developed over the years—as in, approximately half a century:
When Saturday Night Live returns from a hiatus, the first show back struggles to find both its rhythm and sketches that are well conceived and consistently funny.
SNL’s return last night carried with it a special challenge, because the last show before the break, hosted by Ryan Gosling, was arguably the funniest of the season, with one sketch, the Beavis and Butthead unaware look-a-likes, now the most-viewed clip of the current season.
And so, when the cold open tiptoed into risky territory, trying to find a way to get laughs out of the divisive and decidedly unfunny protests against the war in Gaza, a familiar sense of “oh it’s that hiatus issue” set in.
It even seemed as though the writers were sending a signal about...

May 4 marks Star Wars Day — as in the “May the Fourth be with you” — and, as a new trailer reveals, a date one month away from the premiere of the Disney+’s new Star Wars series The Acolyte. In the trailer hyping up The Acolyte’s June 4 premiere, the Jedi are in mortal peril during the High Republic era — they’re being hunted, says Jedi Knight Yord Fandar (Charlie Barnett) — and under criticism. “The Jedi justified a galactic dominance in the name of peace, but that peace is a lie,” trader Qimir (Manny Jacinto) argues. A synopsis for the series, meanwhile, reveals that an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits the respected Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) against Mae, a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). “She was my student. I trained her,” Sol says in the trailer. “Let me be the one to bring her in.” As more clues emerge,...

An earlier trailer released in March (watch below) first introduced us to the characters of Mae, Master Sol and Master Indara — respectively played by Amandla Stenberg (The Eddy), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel’s Jessica Jones) — and offered a peek of the Wookiee Jedi named Kelnacca (Solo: A Star Wars Story...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Star Wars: Tales of The Empire Episodes 4, 5 and 6.] The subject of Barriss Offee’s (voiced by Meredith Salenger) whereabouts after the fall of the Republic has long been a debated subject among Star Wars fans. Some thought she’d managed to escape prison and saved Grogu… which turned out not to be the case. Some thought she’d show up in Ahsoka as an antagonist for her former friend to battle… which turned out not to be the case. Others, still, hypothesized that the disgraced former Jedi might’ve become an Inquisitor… and they were right. But Tales of the Empire proved that turning to the Dark Side was only part of Barriss’ story. As of the end of the final episode, we’re left conflicted about Barriss—and, again, we’re not sure whether she survived. Let’s break it down. Disney+ Did Barriss Offee Die? That’s the...

At the end of the 2001 movie “Monsters, Inc.,” the titular company decides to cut ties with tradition and do away with human children’s screams as a power source in favor of laughter. It was a fun tag that put a nice bow on Sulley’s character growth after meeting the human Boo. What the movie doesn’t show is whether the larger world of Monstropolis will be open to such a drastic change to their traditions and culture. That is at the heart of Disney+’s “Monsters at Work,” which, in its second season, brought workplace existentialism and the environmental revolution to the popular Pixar franchise — along with the surprise return of Steve Buscemi’s Randall Boggs. (More on that later.)
“The end of ‘Monsters, Inc.’ is great for the audience, but that doesn’t necessarily extend to the larger city and the larger world,” “Monsters at Work” showrunner Kevin Deters told IndieWire.

Nicholas Alexander Chavez says there are “no current plans” for him to return from what was once a temporary leave from General Hospital. The actor, who starred as Spencer Cassadine in the long-running ABC soap, confirmed reports of his exit in an X post on Friday — and hinted that he, or his character, at least, might one day make a comeback. “I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that Gh gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors, and fellow actors,” Chavez told fans in the X post. He went on: “[General Hospital executive producer] Frank Valentini is a mentor and a friend, and we’ve had some pretty extensive conversations about my future on the show. While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.

Los Angeles is not the first city fans would associate with comedian John Mulaney. That would be Chicago, his hometown and the backdrop to innumerable childhood anecdotes in his stand-up act, or New York, where he broke out as a writer on “Saturday Night Live” and shot a special at Radio City Music Hall. But L.A. is where Mulaney now lives; it’s also currently home to the second iteration of Netflix Is a Joke, a massive, weeklong comedy festival organized by the streaming service as a show of genre dominance. The Boys fans are getting a closer look at the long-awaited fourth season as Prime Video unveiled the official trailer at the inaugural Ccxp México where some of the stars were in attendance for a convention panel. The explosive trailer for the season arriving Thursday, June 13 on the streamer teases Billy Butcher’s (Karl Urban) last-ditch efforts to take down the Supes he loathes so supremely as his time begins to run out. As viewers will recall, Butcher, the head of the show’s titular vigilante group was only given months to live after his abuse of Temp-v. Prime Video “If I look back at my life, you know what I see are the messes I made, and I ain’t got time to fix it. If I do one thing right with the time I have left, I can’t do it alone. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Fire Country Season 2 Episode 8 “It’s Not Over.”] It’s a mix of good and bad news throughout the latest Fire Country, which does end with Three Rock in a better place but also with us worried about one of the Leones. The gala and attempt to impress the governor (Catherine Lough Haggquist) does end up being a success, thanks to speeches from both Eve (Jules Latimer) and Bode (Max Thieriot) and the latter being among those who leap into action when a fire breaks out. But, as everyone learns, it was actually Luke (Michael Trucco) who recommended the fire camp be shut down (for financial reasons). In other Leone family drama, Vince’s (Billy Burke) hand tremor is a serious (heart-stopping) concern, but one only Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) knows about, and he plans to keep it that way for now as everyone’s rolling out to help with the campaign fire.

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees ended its first week of “general” negotiations on a new contract on Friday, and will resume next week.
The union spent most of the week focused on its benefit plans, which are facing a $670 million shortfall over the next three years.
The Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plans extended health coverage to members who were out of work due to last year’s strikes, leaving an unusually large funding gap.
The union provided a brief update to its membership on Friday evening, but gave no indication of how the talks are progressing.
